Merideth: If you need a step but you also wanna keep clearance and maneuverability in mind for your 2021 or newer four-door Bronco, these RB20 Slim Running Boards in textured black will be a step that you'll wanna check out. Now, getting in and out of your Bronco can be difficult, especially for your passengers and if you have kids and, on top of that, if you have a lift or a leveling kit installed. Now, these running boards will offer just the right amount of room to plant your foot and help you up into your Bronco when it comes to your day-to-day life, but these will also be great for the Bronco owner who likes to take their truck off-road and is very conscious about clearance and protection for their rocker panel. Now, not only will this set carry a lot of function, but it's going to have that slim profile and sleek look that's going to add that premium feel to the side of your Bronco if you're in search of a subtle yet sturdy appearance to fill up that wheel-to-wheel space. Now, these will, as it says in the name, feature a very super slim design that acts very closely to that rocker, which will offer a well-fitted appearance, but it's also gonna provide some really good coverage and protection, especially with this added lip in the back here. Now, these will also offer 5 and 1/2 inches of width at the widest point of the step and taper down to 4 and 1/2 inches of width. So, on all points, you're getting a good amount of space underneath your foot while maintaining a more narrow build compared to some wider steps. Now, that slim design also will offer an advantage when it comes to ground clearance, but you won't have to worry even when you do come down on an obstacle because not only are these going to provide the accessibility and clearance, but protection with that heavy-duty build as well. Now, getting into that build, these will be made of a 16-gauge zinc-coated steel for optimal durability compared to other lighter-duty options, making this a great way to keep your rocker panel protected from any kick-up or moderate trail obstacles. This will also have a black powder coat finish on top, again, as it says in the name, and that's gonna do a great job at resisting any rust over years, keeping these looking brand new for those years to come. These will also have a direct bolt-on install and come with absolutely everything that you need in order to get these installed on your Bronco. This set will come in at about $525, which I think is right on par for what you're getting out of these steps. Now, this set will balance a lot of key elements that you would want out of a side step, again, that protective aspect, the additional clearance, the accessibility, and the added bonus of that very sleek appearance. Now, compared to other choices that may highlight one or two of those aspects as far as focusing on accessibility or mainly just protection, this, again, is going to allow a full range of options and functions when it comes to a side step, making this a great choice if you're looking for all of those benefits for your Bronco. Installing these will be a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about an hour to get the job done. Now, at this point, we can head over to our shop and check out a detailed breakdown on how to get these onto your Bronco at home. So that is going to wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into the install.Man: The tools you'll need for this project are a 3/8 drive ratchet, an 11, a 13, and a 17-millimeter socket, and an 11-millimeter wrench. Hi, everyone, today we're installing a set of running boards on our Bronco, so let's get started. All right, one thing we want to get clear before we actually start the install is the placement of the brackets themselves. There are slight differences, even though they look the same, there are some slight differences between them, and you need to put the right one in the right position. So the first one for your front bracket mount, you'll notice that this hole on the mounting bracket itself is centered side to side but is at the bottom end of the bracket piece right here. The center bracket, as you can see, is more towards the top and towards the corner. And the rear bracket is centered side to side, but it's also more towards the top, and it has a slight divot in the top of the bracket. So you want to make sure that, when you put those on the vehicle, you put them in the correct position. Now, let's get our running boards ready to go. Now, our running boards themselves are not side-specific, so whichever one you grab out of the box can go on either side of the vehicle, as well as the brackets that will go to the bottom of the running board and to the mounting brackets that we put on the vehicle. So you're going to need three of these for each side. They are a double-bolt bracket. And all you have to do really is just slide them into the bottom of the running board and turn them sideways. That will temporarily lock them in place so they won't fall out, and then we'll adjust those when we get it on the actual mounting brackets themselves and tighten everything down. Now, to install our brackets, we're going to be using the supplied M10 bolts with a lock washer and a flat washer to go on the backside of the bracket here that's going to go up here behind the pinch weld at the bottom of the vehicle into the inner rocker panel on the backside. And once we've got that loosely in place holding the bracket onto the vehicle, then we're going to use two of the supplied 1/4-inch bolts with a lock washer and a flat washer on the front side, and they're going to go through the pinch weld in these pre-drilled holes from the factory, and then we'll use a flat washer and a nut on the backside to secure it to the vehicle. So let's go ahead and get them installed. All right, so we're going to start with our front bracket here. And you'll notice that there is a slight gap between the main bracket and the front bracket. That's going to go over the pinch weld like so. Then we'll use our M10 bolt to secure it to the inner rocker panel. Then we'll use our two 1/4-inch bolts with our flat washer and our nut on the front side. Then we'll do the same thing with the other bolt for the front side of the bracket, put our flat washer on the back side, and attach it with the nut. Now, you can repeat that process for the other two brackets along the side, keeping in mind, of course, the correct bracket in the correct position. Now, with our mounting brackets attached to the vehicle, we can go ahead and lift our running boards up now and set them in place to allow for adjustment later on. But we will attach these two bolts per bracket to the bottom of the steps and secure that, and then we can go ahead and start tightening things up. All right, now, we can install the bolts and the washers that came with the running boards, insert those into the brackets here, again, keeping them loose so that we can do our final adjustments later. All right, once you've got them in, now you can do the same thing for the other two brackets. All right, now that we've got our brackets all attached, go ahead and tighten them all down. Make sure that your alignment is correct, you've got your spacing away from the body like you want it, you've got it shifted front to back to where you want it. And, now, we can go ahead and tighten these up using our 13-millimeter socket. All right, now, with our side steps attached to our mounting brackets, we'll go ahead and tighten up the bolts for the mounting brackets to the vehicle itself. We'll get all those done, and then we'll make a final adjustment on where we want our side steps to sit, and then we'll tighten those bolts down. So we'll use our 17-millimeter socket to tighten up the large bolt at the top. And that will use an 11-millimeter socket and 11-millimeter wrench to tighten up the 2 smaller bolts on that bracket as well. All right, now, you can repeat that process for the other two brackets. And that wraps up our review and install of the RB20 Slim Running Boards with the textured black finish for your '21 to current Bronco four-door. Thanks for watching, and, remember, for all things Bronco, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
