Merideth: If you want a touch of the Baja look to the front end of your 2021 or newer Ford Bronco, this Aeroskin LightShield Hood Protector in Black will be a great way to do it. Now, this will add that touch of amber LED styling, which will be great if you're looking for some more off-road appeal when it comes to your truck. And this is gonna make you more noticeable on the street, especially in inclement weather if you think that that's something that your truck is missing. Now, without fail, this will also be functional without the lighting on. This is going to protect the paint on your hood from any rock chips and kick up wherever you're driving your Bronco. Now, without fail, this will also be very functional even without the lighting, protecting the paint on your hood from any rock chips and kick up wherever you're driving your Bronco. Now, as you can see here, the strip of lights is going to come separate from the hood protector itself, but this light strip is going to be incredibly functional with five clusters of amber LED lights that are going to integrate into this hood protector or this top lip here. Now, those will produce about 250 lumens, which is pretty bright for some small accent lighting. Now, with being LEDs that shine incredibly bright, these are also gonna last for years to come with a very efficient design. And the entire design itself is going to be pretty subtle if you're not looking for anything too flashy while still making a big difference on the front end. I do also like that the center of the protector here will have a raised design, which will offer a barrier or a wall from that kick up that your Bronco may encounter. Now, this will be made of a specialized TPO plastic material, which will remain lightweight while still offering that strength that you need to take those smaller hits. It's also gonna have a nice textured surface to it, which is gonna match with any other OE accessories because of that little wrinkle finish on top. And as you can also see on our Bronco, this is gonna fit very well, and made to the exact specs for a tight fit. Now, on the back, this is also going to feature a heavy-duty 3M tape that's going to stay in place for years to come, while not requiring any modification like other options will. Now, you will have to do a little bit of modification and wiring to the hood protector itself when it comes to the lighting here. As you can see, you're gonna have a very long lead of wire. So, there is a little bit of extra wiring involved but it's nothing too intimidating. And we're gonna show you that in just a second. Now, the deflector will come in at roughly $250, which will put this at more of a premium price point compared to others on the page, but for good reason. Now, this will feature that amber LED lighting in addition to the protective aspect, which is a lot more than other choices bring to the table when talking about functionality as a whole. Now, others on the page may be a little bit less expensive but will include more of a simplistic design with a standard acrylic build or even a similar build, just lacking the extra lighting here. Now, I think if you're looking for a premium choice for a hood protection and a subtle but stylish appearance for the front end of your Bronco, then this is a great way to do it.Now install will be straightforward, but again will require some wiring. But nonetheless, I'm gonna give it a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about an hour to get the job done. At this point, we can head over to the shop and check out a detailed breakdown of the install and what it looks like step by step. So, that's gonna wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Man: Tools required for this install include a drill, a 3/16 drill bit, scissors or diagonal cutters, wire strippers and crimpers, a ratchet, an 8-millimeter socket, a fork connector, a Posi connector, and a couple of zip toes. What's up, guys? Today, we're installing a hood protector on our Bronco. So, let's get started. So, our first step is to mount our LED strip into this channel in our hood protector. Now, to do that, we're gonna have to drill a hole to run our wires through just to make it look clean. So, the way we're gonna be wiring this is into our auxiliary switches, which the wiring for that is found on the driver's side. So, we're gonna be drilling our hole in the driver's side. So, I've got a 3/16-inch drill bit that we're gonna drill our hole and then we can run our wire through and double-side tape our LED strip. So, now we're gonna be drilling our hole from the underside because we have a little bit more access to it.On our LED strip, the wires come out right in the middle, so we're gonna center up our hole and drill it. So, once again, you're gonna be using a drill with a 3/16-inch drill bit and center up our drill bit and drill our hole. So, next, we can grab our wires and we're gonna feed them through the hole that we just drilled, and then we can peel back on our double-sided tape and mount that. So, now before we install this onto the Bronco, we're gonna dog-ear all of our edges of the double-sided tape just so that we can get it on there and be able to move it around a little bit if we need to. So, we'll just peel back on our backing and fold that over the edge just like that. Now we're gonna dog-ear everything except for these two little pieces in the corner because we don't really have enough material to do so. So, we're just gonna peel those two off.Now I'm dog-earing both sides of our strip just in case we rip our backing in the middle, we still have another side to be able to get it off. So, as mentioned before, the way we're gonna wire this is our positive is gonna go into the wires for our auxiliary switches, and our ground, we're gonna ground to a bolt on the chassis. So, we're gonna use a connector for that and a Posi connector for our positive. So, we can take a wire stripper and strip back some lead on our wires. And then we're gonna unscrew the cap on our Posi connector. We'll slide our power wire through and then we'll screw that back together. And then we'll do that same thing on the other side on auxiliary switch wires. And now for our ground, we're just gonna slide our connector on, and then we'll crimp that down. So, now before we mount this to our hood, we're gonna raise it up and just kind of mock-fit it. We have a little tab here that's gonna go over our hood where our wire comes down to go to our auxiliary switch wires. So, we're just gonna kind of raise this up, get it roughly in place. Our wires are coming down right here. And then we can just wrap this piece over our hood where our wire's gonna come down. So, now we can line up our hood protector. And then once we have that even on both sides, we can start to pull out our double-sided tape. So, now to run our wires back towards the wires for our auxiliary switches, we have these wire clips, we've got a double-sided tape that we can stick to the hood and then it'll clip down to hold our wire in place. So, we'll peel back the double-sided tape backing, stick it down, run our wire through it, and then just clip it shut. So, now we can make our two connections for our power and our ground. Now, all of these wires are labeled in the owner's manual under the Auxiliary Switches page. We have a 30 amp fuse, a 15 amp fuse, and four 10 amps. For this application, we'll just need a 10 amp. So, this solid brown wire is one of our 10 amp wires. So, we're gonna cut this cap off, strip back some lead, and then insert it into our Posi connector. And then we can take an 8-millimeter socket to loosen up this bolt so that we can slide our negative connector in, and then we'll tighten it back down. So, you can grab a pair of scissors or diagonal cutters to cut off the cap. And then we'll grab a wire stripper to cut back some lead, and then we'll twist up our lead. And then we can remove the cap from the other side of our Posi connector. We'll slide that onto our wire and then screw this back on. Next, we can grab our 8-millimeter socket to loosen up this bolt on our ground. And then we'll get our negative, slide that under our bolt, and tighten it back down. Now, last thing we need to do is bunch up our excess wire and zip-tie it. Now you want to leave a little bit of slack just so you have some wiggle room for opening your hood. And then we can take a pair of scissors or diagonal cutters to chop off the excess of our zip tie. So, now with our excess all cleaned up, I'm just gonna zip-tie this to this harness right down here, and that way we can just keep it out of the way of everything else. And then one more time with the scissors or diagonal cutters and chop off the excess. So, that'll wrap up this review and install of the Aeroskin LightShield Hood Protector in Black for your 2021 and newer Bronco. Thank you for watching, and for all things Bronco, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
