Would the Morryde frame side mount work with XRC Smittybilt rocksilders installed on a TJ?

      • The MORryde Frame Side Mount Jerry Can Holder will fit with door length running boards, but will not clear most full length running boards or step bars. If you have the Smittybilt XRC Rock Sliders Item J16299 found here: https://www.extremeterrain.com/smittybilt-xrc-rock-sliders-w-tj-76870.html without steps, they should be compatible together. If you have the option with tube steps, the jerry can holder will not fit properly.

Is there anything I may obtain in order to better secure the Jerry can? There are places I go that my can comes up missing rather regularly. So I'm asking if there's like a chain lock or something along those lines to better secure our Jerry cans.

Will this fit a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon? My concern is the clearance with the lower portion of the front fender flares. Rubicon flares are larger/wider than non-Rubicon Jeeps. Thanks.

Review from MORryde Frame Side Mount Jerry Can Holder w/ Tall Tray (87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ & TJ)

Good product very poor fit on YJ jeep

As stated in a previous review this product material wise is very well constructed and sturdy. The problem is it clearly was not designed for the YJ. The YJ frame has a slight curve at the mounting location that causes the tray to be angled with the body instead of parallel. The space between the frame and body is very narrow and the holes in the bracket do not probably correspond. I was only able to get 4 out of the 6 bolts in with alot of work. Also previously stated I will be replace those four with longer bolts as you can only get a few threads started. Very disappointed in the fit and diffently not a 15 minute job on a YJ.

          Just as expected.

Easy 15 minute install. Very solid and vibration free. Nice product. I have never felt safe with mounting fuel cans on the rear so these are a great alternative.

Fits the Jeep well and was very easy to install. What I like it is designed like a receiver hitch so holder can be removed if needed.

Review from MORryde Frame Side Mount Jerry Can Holder w/ Tall Tray (87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ & TJ)

          Extra Fuel for the TJ

The MORryde Frame Side Mount Jerry Can Holders worked out great and expanded my fuel carrying capacity by 10 gallons (5 gallons on each side). And when that much fuel is not required, the Jerry Can Holders can be easily removed. Installation was pretty easy, though I do wish the instructions had torque specifications. I was concerned that the gas cans would wobble around while off road. That did not turn out to be a problem while covering over 400 miles on trails and dirt roads.

          One fine Jerry Can Holder

I combined the MORryde platform with a Smittybilt Jerry Gas Can Holder which is a cage that can have a padlock on it. Don't get me wrong, the MORryde Frame Side Mount is excellent all by itself. It fit great and looks really cool. I just needed a way to lock up the Jerry can that you may not have. The MORryde frame is solid and easy to remove when you need it gone. This is a perfect solution if you don't want the gas can on your spare tire holder.

Review from MORryde Frame Side Mount Jerry Can Holder w/ Tall Tray (87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ & TJ)

Very sturdy, but very poor fit

The product itself seems very well built, made of pretty heavy gauge, black powder coated steel with good welds, and all of the parts came neatly organized and well packed. The fit, however, is terrible: 1.) the carriage bolts included are too short, so only one set (out of the three pairs) will *just barely* fit, and 2.) the plate itself on the frame-side of the receiver isn't the right size (at least for the YJ passenger-side frame rail), as when it's in place, the rear edge of the plate is prevented from lining up properly by the sloping floor of the Jeep body tub, leaving the plate at an angle (so that when installed, the tray leans rear-ward, resting on the fender flare). Will have to uninstall and try to get longer bolts.

          Solid Build

The Jerry Can holder assembly is well built. It was very easy to install. I "modified" mine to hold a can cage that I had bought previously (drilled new holes in the tray plate--took some time as the steel is strong and thicker than I had anticipated). My only concern is how well the welds with withstand use...I haven't had my Jeep off-road since installation. However, I plan to buy a second assembly once they are back in stock to attach to the drivers side. Given the built in angle for the piece that fits perpendicular to the frame, I am hoping that it will fit as well as on the passenger side.

          Looks awesome

Always getting compliments on the look of the cans on my jeep. Those mounts are solid and easy to remove. Only complaint is they cause extra drag while driving effecting gas mileage. Other than that they are great!

          Cool look! Very sturdy....so far...

So far so good. Not all the hardware came with it. Had all the washers and screws but no nuts. A quick trip to auto store fixed the problem. Maybe it was just my package but beware. For my personal comfort I reinforced everything with Loctite but that's just me. It's very sturdy so far and I heard no rattling after 4 hrs of highway driving. Love the look! The fifth star will be for longevity. Thumbs up from me though!

          Great product

I wanted to give my jeep a "Willis" look but couldn't find a way to attach the jerry can. The frame mount is easy to instal although there were no instructions included and it doesn't take in consideration the heat plate that runs along by the righ side of the frame. Overall I like it and I am happy with my purchase.

Review from MORryde Frame Side Mount Jerry Can Holder w/ Tall Tray (87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ & TJ)

          Nice product-poor fit.

I attempted to install these today (purchased one for both sides). They do not fit as described. 1.) Bolts provided for the bracket mount are too short by 1/2" so I have to go to the hardware store for longer ones. 2) There is insufficient room between the top of the mounting bracket and the floor of the Jeep by about 1/4 inch so will have to grind off the top of the mounting bracket to get the new bolts across the top of the frame.

          great idea

very secure, Easy install, I like the idea it can be taken off when not needed simply by the pull of a pin. the only change i would like to see is it be more universal with smitty built gas tank holder. I had to drill holes to adapt the lockable holder . it looks great instead of the flat deck an also lock-able.

          Excellent choice

If you have a lift plan on drilling new holes or making new mounting staps.also I have a set of rock sliders.it has two holes for different in out options and it clears the sliders just fine.I was only able to use two of the three mounting straps on the frame due to my lift brackets.but it seems to work fine so far.cool design and very easy to remove when not in use.this is a very handy option when you need extra gas or just for the cool look factor.would definitely recommend this product.

Review from MORryde Frame Side Mount Jerry Can Holder w/ Tall Tray (87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ & TJ)

An option for mounting a Jerry Can

Installation is a breeze - took about 10 minutes with an open end wrench and a socket wrench. The foam insert that cushions the can on the tray was a bit short - and one end actually appeared to be torn instead of cut from the roll. I cut it cleanly with scissors and applied it - and it is adequate. Sufficiently cushions the can keeping it from rattling or rubbing on the steel tray. The anchor strap holds it securely, but a locking steel strap option would have been a more elegant retention solution. I have carried a full 5 gallon NATO fuel can on this down some very gnarlly off-roat tracks and it holds the can securely. I am always mindful that there is a gas can mounted on the drivers' side and make certain to avoid scraping that side against rocks.
