Hey guys, I'm Eric with ExtremeTerrain. In this video, I'm gonna give you my review and install of this Barricade Trail Force HD Front Bumper for all 2020 and later Jeep Gladiators. You should really be checking this bumper out if you're looking for a more affordable way to get everything you need to start off-roading right now. Now, the Trail Force HD line from Barricade is one of the most popular bumpers that we sell here at ExtremeTerrain, whether you're talking about TJ, JK, JL, or the JT like I have right here next to me, they're very popular and there's a good reason for that. This bumper incorporates really, I think the best mix of price, functionality, and style that you're gonna find on our website. Especially if you're new to off-roading and you want to get out there on the trails right away without breaking your bank, this bumper provides all the basic necessities you need to get off-roading right away. Now, what are some of those basics that you need when you're going off-roading? You need the ability to protect the front end of your Jeep. Now obviously, this is a huge upgrade in protection for your Jeep compared to your factory bumper, let's face that the factory bumpers are really basic minimalist bumpers. It's a thin metal frame covered by plastic, and it basically does the job.But this bumper here from Barricade is thick 5/32-inch thick steel covered in a two-stage powder coat, that's very durable, it's gonna offer a lot of front-end protection for your Jeep against impacts whether you're in rush hour traffic or whether you're out there on the trails. Now, what also we're looking for when we go off-roading? Well, we're looking for the ability to get unstuck when we find ourselves in a jam. Now, one of the best ways to do that is unmount the winch on your Jeep, and this bumper is capable of accepting a winch up to a 12,000-pound pull rating. You also have these heavy-duty welded-on D-Ring mounts that basically attached right where your bumper attaches to the frame rails of your Jeep, they're welded in a direct line with your frame rails of your Jeep. That's gonna give you a more solid pull if someone else is pulling you out, or if you're running your winch out to a pulley and back to your own Jeep. Either way, this bumper is going to help you get out of a jam when you need it.Now, the couple last things I wanna mention about styling and functionality that you get with this bumper is that this bumper is a few inches shorter end to end, and it's tapered up. That's going to allow better terrain and obstacle clearance out on the trails. A lot easier to put a tire up over a rock or a log, this bumper is not going to get in your way.The other thing about the styling here is you have this tube mount right here, and two brackets welded to that tube that allow you to add additional off-road lighting if that's what you want to do. Plus, it's gonna protect your grille and radiator from any branches or other sticks obstacles you might come across when you're out there on the trails.Considering all that functionality styling and durable construction, plus the fact that the kit includes these two 9500-pound rated D-Rings, the price coming in on this unit is right around $350, that is really an excellent value and I challenge you to find a better value on our website. This is a very popular line and that's the reason why.As far as the installation goes, I'm giving it a very basic one wrench out of three on our difficulty meter. Nothing real challenging here, once you get your factory bumper off, you're looking at four mounting points on each frame rail, three sets of nuts, and one bolt per side. Pretty simple bolt-up installation, it really doesn't get a whole lot easier than that. Now, I would budget probably about two hours of your time altogether including removing your factory bumper, which has a lot more to it. You've got trim pieces, pop clips, that kind of thing. And we'll show you the tools you're gonna need in just a second. So let's go ahead and go ahead with our installation. All right guys, tools we're gonna use for this install include an electric impact wrench, a swivel socket, an extension, 8, 10, and 18-millimeter sockets, a hand socket wrench, and a trim removal tool. All right guys, to begin our uninstall of our stock bumper to get ready for our new product, we're gonna remove a couple of pop clips up top here for this splash card that kinda tucks in behind the bumper and in front of the radiator grille. So in order to do that, we're going to leave it on the ground. And then we're gonna put our truck up on a lift just to give you a better camera shot to show you the rest of the stock removal of this bumper. Okay, go ahead and grab yourself a trim removal tool, if you don't have one of these, a wide blade, flat-head screwdriver will probably work just as well. Just pull up on these pop clips, that's just to allow this piece to separate from the piece that's attached to the Jeep. All right guys, now we have a series of these lock pins or lock clips on the underside as well, we're gonna remove these. Now, you're gonna have two bolts under here, they're gonna need an 8-millimeter socket to get these out. And make sure you're supporting it with the offhand, once you get this last one out it's going to want to come off.All right guys, now we're gonna take our skid plate off here, you're gonna have a 16-millimeter bolt on one on each side. All right guys, then you're going to want to locate this connector right here, this connects the wiring from the Jeep to the wiring harness that runs the full length of your bumper to both fog lights, if you have fog lights on your front bumper, which we do. And disconnect that one, that's good for both fog lights. All right guys, next we're going to be going after these bolts here, you've got four on each side or on each frame rail mount. We're going to take these out. I'm using an 18-millimeter socket. I'm going to leave that one on a couple of threads just to help secure the bumper and keep it on there while we have our Jeep up in the air.All right guys, now we're doing the two on the inside of the frame rail on the passenger side of the Jeep here, this bottom one might be a little bit difficult for you to see with the camera angle, but we're gonna start in the top one here. Again, this is an 18-mil socket we're using.Once you get all four of these started, do that on the driver's side of your Jeep. All right guys, once you have all eight nuts removed including the one we left on there just a couple of threads just to keep it from falling off on us, go ahead and remove your bumper. All right guys, now we have our factory bumper off of our Jeep, I'm gonna pull up here on the stand, we'll do a quick side-by-side comparison. Now obviously the differences are pretty stark, I mean, you're going from this off-road style bumper with high clearance angles on the ends, and a little bit shorter overall width compared to our factory bumper which is basically just a metal frame covered in plastic with a couple of fog lights on there. Now, really you're getting a lot more off-road capability with this bumper with the winch mount and the additional off-road lighting mounts up top here, as well as these heavy-duty D-Ring mounts right here for getting yourself out of stuck situations or other recovery situations or maybe you're getting a buddy out from a rut or mud or snow or whatever it is they might get stuck in.The other thing you might notice is that this Barricade Trail Force HD Bumper has cutouts for fog lights, if you have the factory LEDs on your Jeep you can transfer those over to your new Barricade Bumper without any additional modifications. If your Jeep is like our Gladiator right here, and it's the sport model with the halogens, you will need to buy an additional set of brackets in order to transfer those over but we don't have those on hand today so we're not going to demonstrate that. So let's just go ahead and get this bumper-mounted up on our truck. All right now, I have a bumper laid out on the ground in front of the Jeep, I'm going to grab a friend here who's going to help me lift it up into place. It's not that it's all that heavy and you need that kind of help, but getting it lined up with the three studs on each frame rail is a little bit tricky if you're trying to hold the bumper from the front side. And you can't see that, it's beneficial to be able to hold it up from the side so you can kinda eyeball where those studs need to go on a frame. All right now, that we have them started on there we're going to go ahead and just grab a nut per side and get them started on there, just to kind of hold it in place until we can get the rest of our hardware installed. All right guys, so this is the nut we already started earlier just to keep our bumper from falling off, and we're gonna set another bolt-on here to get started. And then go ahead and take an 18-millimeter socket and tighten them down. And then we move to the inside of the frame rail. All right guys, so on the inside of the frame rails, we're actually gonna have a bolt that goes into the top here. So go ahead and grab a flat washer and lock washer to go with it, and then another flat washer and lock washer and nut for the bottom here. And again, with your 18-mil socket, go ahead and tighten them down. You can repeat these same steps on the driver's side as the hardware's pretty much the same. All right guys, the last finishing touches, just go ahead and put your D-Rings on.All right guys, that wraps up this review and install of the Barricade Trail Force HD Front Bumper for all 2020 and later Jeep Gladiators. And of course, for all things Gladiator, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
