How to Install a Barricade Front Tubular Bumper on your 2007-2017 Jeep Wrangler JK

Installation Time

1.5 hours

Tools Required
  • 19 mm socket, socket wrench with a 6” extension
  • 18 mm wrench
  • Mallet
  • Phillips head screwdriver

Installation Instructions:

1. Remove the splash shield from the vehicle using a phillips head screwdriver. There are 4 retainers that are mounted to the underside of the bumper and 2 more that are about halfway back.

2. Remove 8 nuts from the backside of the bumper using an 18 mm socket. The outer 2 are much easier to reach than the 2 on the inside. You will need a 6” extension for the inner most bolts. (Arrows below). Be careful, an extra set of hands will come in handy! As you remove the bolts there is nothing to hold the bumper on at that point and it will drop. Suggest having another person to help hold the bumper up while you remove the last bolt. Pull the bumper straight off the frame using the tow hooks.

3. Install the bracket to the frame. Mount with the horizontal holes against the front of the vehicle. Use a bolt, flat washer and then a flat washer and lock nut on the back side. Tighten both bolts down using the 18 mm socket on the head side and the 19 mm wrench on the nut. Use the mallet to slightly angle the top of the bracket in towards the frame.

4. Place the bumper onto the brackets by sliding the bottom of the bumper mount onto the top corner of the frame mount. It will be tight but continue to apply pressure downward and slide it into place.

5. Once you have the bumper level, go ahead and tighten the bolts using the 18 mm socket on the head side and the 19 mm wrench on the nut side. Make sure that you use a flat washer on both the head side and the nut side
