Merideth: If you're looking to maximize your storage space for your overland adventure, or even just everyday life for your 2021 or newer Ford Bronco, this Barricade HD Adventure Roof Rack will be a great addition to your build. Now, this will be a great pick if you need a ton of storage space for large cargo, kayaks, rooftop tent, or really whatever else you need to take with you. Now, the rack will also assist in just more of an off-road look with the exoskeleton styling, and the ability to customize it to your own personal preference. When it comes to the design, this is going to attach to the strongest points of the Bronco and be able to handle up to 350 pounds, making this perfect for that larger cargo that you don't want to or you can't fit inside the back of the Bronco. Now, these sidebars here, you're also gonna have multiple mounting points. This is just one of them here on the table, but this is going to be for additional cargo, like jack's or recovery gear. And this is also going to come with a small side ladder to help you access the top portion of the rack, which is going to be very user friendly. And that's something that you see with every single roof rack. And not to mention, on the front there will be some added support to the windshield, and it's also going to act as a wind deflector as well. So, this is gonna cut down on any annoyance while also allowing you multiple accessory mounting locations for any additional lighting that you'd like to mount up.When it comes to the construction, this will be made of a 2-inch diameter durable steel tubing, and it's also gonna come with a nice heavy duty two-stage texture black powder coat finish on top to protect these steel tubing and obviously steel plating here from any rust underneath. And it's going to just assist in more of an off-road look. This will also be completely bolt-on so you don't have to worry about modifying your Bronco. You can keep some peace of mind that this is going to be more of a non-permanent solution while still giving you all of that strength that you need. When it comes to price, this will land at roughly $1,200. Now, comparing this to other options, this will have a pretty high weight capacity at 350 pounds. Will work with both a hard top and a soft top, and will have the front and rear light mounting options available on this rack. Now, other choices will usually mount only in hard top applications. They may require modification in order to install them, and may not have as high of a load capacity as this one. Now, overall, I think if you like that exoskeleton style, and you're looking for one that you can count on for your overlanding adventures, then this is going to be it.Now, when it comes to install, this will be a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about an hour to get the job done. Now, at this point, we can head over to the shop and check out a detailed breakdown of the install process, and what that looks like step by step. So, that's gonna wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Man: Tools required for this install include an impact gun, a ratchet, a 13-millimeter wrench, a 5-millimeter Allen bit, a T-40 Torx bit, a 10, 13 and 16-millimeter sockets, and a swivel adapter. What's up, guys? Today, we're installing a roof rack on our Bronco, so let's get started. So, our first step is to pop off these two covers above our windshield. We have a little tab in the back here that we can press and pop it off. And then we'll do that same thing on the other side. Next, we can take a 10-millimeter socket to remove our 2 nuts so that we can remove our plastic bracket. And then we'll do that same thing on the other side.Next, we can install our spacer with the two holes, and then we can install our front mounting bracket on top of that. And then we'll take 2 of our 10-millimeter nuts that are included in our kit, we'll thread those onto our studs. Now, we can take our 10-millimeter socket to tighten these nuts down. And then we'll do that same thing on the other side. So, next we can raise our front bar up into position on our brackets, and then we're gonna be installing a M8 by 30-mill bolt with 2 M8 washers and a nut.So, now we can get our bolt with our flat washer, and feed this through the back inside hole. Then on the other side, we'll put another flat washer and our nut. And then we can tighten that down with a 5-millimeter Allen bit and a 13-millimeter wrench. And then we'll do that same thing on the other side. Next, we can install our front cover. So, these two mounting holes are gonna go on the outside of our brackets, and then we're gonna be putting in the same hardware as we did to secure down our front bar. So, now we can install our hardware. This is gonna be the same as the last set.So, I'm gonna put the nut into a 13-millimeter wrench and line up our hole. And then we'll tighten that down with a 5-millimeter Allen bit and our 13-millimeter wrench. And we can do that same thing on the other side. So, next, we can come back to the rear and lift up on the back of our soft top, and then install our mounting bracket. Just gonna slide in and then we're gonna use our Torx bolts with a lock washer and flat washer, and thread those into our holes. And then we can take a T-40 Torx bit to tighten down our bolts. And then we'll do that same thing on the other side. Next, we can install our rear seals. These are gonna sit right here. We have an adhesive back. So, we'll pull that backing off, then we can line it up and stick it down. And we'll do that same thing on the other side. Now, we can begin to assemble our frame. So we have our rear hoop and our leg that's gonna go on it. Now, we have two different legs. It's gonna be the one that matches the bend of the hoop. So, we'll put that down. We have our long Allen head bolt with a flat washer that's gonna go through the front, and then another flat washer and our lock nut that's gonna go on the other side. So, now we can slide our bolt through our front hole into our back. And on the backside, we'll get another flat washer and our locking nut. And then we can get a 13-millimeter wrench on our nut side, and a 5-millimeter Allen bit on our bolt side to tighten that down. And then we'll do that same thing for the other side.Next, we can mount our crossbar. Now, we have two sets of holes here. You can use whichever you'd prefer. And then for the other set of holes, we have these plugs that will slide in. So, I'm just gonna put this on the top set of holes here. So, we'll get it all lined up, and then we're gonna use the same exact hardware that we just did to mount our support bar. And then we can tighten those down with that same 5-millimeter Allen bit and 13-millimeter wrench. And then for our plugs, we can just pop these in. We'll get one on each side. And then we can do that same thing for our other side.Next, we can attach our rear crossbar to our two hoops. So, slide this up. This will slide right in. And then we're gonna be using same hardware we've been using to build this. We'll throw our bolt through the hole. So, on the other side of our bolt, we can put another flat washer and our nut, and then we can tighten down our bolt with a 5-millimeter Allen bit at a 13-millimeter wrench. We're gonna do that same thing for our other side. So, now we can lift our rear hoop onto our mounting brackets that we installed. We're gonna be using a 10-mill by 30-mill bolt with a lock washer and flat washer. We're gonna be threading that up through these outer holes in our bracket and into the feet on our bar. Now, we're just gonna leave these hand tight for now until we get the rest of our frame built. And then we can come back and tighten these down. Now, we can install our sidebar. So, we're gonna slide this end into our frontbar. And then on the backside, we have these two nubs that are gonna line up to holes here so that'll hold it in place. And then once again, we're gonna be using that same hardware setup for our front connection. So, now we can install our bolt. It's gonna be coming from the inside out. And then on the other side, a flat washer and our lock nut. And then we'll grab our 5-millimeter Allen bit and a 13-millimeter wrench to tighten this down. And then we have a cap for our nut that we can slide over. And then we'll do that same thing on the other side. So, now we can take the smaller of our two Allen bolts, and put them through the two holes in the backside of our sidebar. And then we'll get a flat washer on the backside and a locking nut. And then we're still using our 5-millimeter Allen bit and 13-millimeter wrench. And then we'll do that same thing on the other side. Now, we're ready to install our top bars so we can run it across to the other side. So, now we can slide our 50-millimeter Allen bolt with a flat washer through the top side. And then on the backside, we can get another flat washer and another one of our locking nuts. And then we'll take a 5-millimeter Allen bit and a 13-millimeter wrench to tighten that down. And then we can go do that same thing on the other side. And now we can repeat that same process for our remaining three top bars. So, now we can come back to our back section and tighten down our two bolts. So, we'll grab a 16-millimeter socket, I've got a swivel adapter, just to make it a little bit easier to get in there, and we can tighten these down. And then we'll do that same thing on the other side. Now lastly, we have these optional accessory brackets. You can mount these pretty much anywhere on the sidebar that you want. We've got three mounting studs. We're gonna secure it down using our flange nuts. So we can slide it in, get our nuts on the backside. And then we can use a 13-millimeter socket to tighten down our nuts. So, that'll wrap up this review and install of the Barricade HD Adventure Roof Rack for your 2021 and newer 4-door Bronco. Thank you for watching, and for all things Bronco, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
