    Review & Installation Video

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com and this is my review and installation of the Barricade adventure doors fitting all 2007 and up JKs. There is a kit of doors available for just the front of your JK. So whether you have a two-door or you have a four-door and you're only interested in front doors, you can get just the two front doors. Or if you have an Unlimited and you're looking for all four doors, there's a kit available with all four as well. Today we're gonna talk through the installation of these doors but also about the construction and some of the features. One of the big benefits to having a Wrangler of any kind is the ability to take off the doors and have that open air driving experience that not many vehicles give you. But some of you still want a little bit more of a secure feeling without having the restrictiveness of the full doors and also want something to brace against if you're an off-road, off-camera [SP] situation. So having a set of doors like this will give you a little bit more of a secure feeling, something to brace against and a lot of you guys like the safari style look that some two doors will give to your JK. So regardless of what the reasoning is, these two doors will give you those features. Now, these doors don't have quite as many bells and whistles as some of the other ones on the market as far as mirror mounts or locking latches. However, they are well built and they fit well and they're gonna be a little bit less expensive than some of those other doors on the market. As far as construction goes, these doors are made of tubular steel that's covered in a textured black powder coat finish. Now these are designed to drop right in place of your factory doors and they do come with latches in the box that you just simply bolt on to the door that will work with your factory strikers. Now as I mentioned before, these latches are not locking. A lot of you might be saying, "Why do I need a locking latch? Anybody can easily reach into the Jeep or even climb right over this door if they want to get inside my Jeep while I have two doors installed." Well, the locking latch is actually there to keep your two doors from walking away. If you install a set of two doors and you have a locking latch, it's impossible for somebody to just open the door, lift off the hinges and walk away with it. Without the locking latches, that is a possibility. So depending on how you use your Jeep, where you park it, where you live, that may be a concern and it may not, but it is something that differentiates these from some of the other more expensive doors on the market. Another one of those differentiating factors is the fact that this does not allow you to mount a mirror on this door. If you have a mirror mover, that takes your factory mirror from your factory door and puts it on A-pillar. Of course, you'll be able to use these doors and have a mirror. However, there isn't a mounting spot on this mirror to move your factory mirror onto the door. And if you have a set of mirrors that go in your factory door hinges when you have your doors completely removed, of course, you won't be able to use those either because these doors will be taking up that space in the factory hinge. All in all, these are a really well-built door, they have a really nice finish on them, and they fit really well. So if that's what you're looking for, you can save a couple of dollars with these doors. However, if you do want some of those additional features of some of the other doors on the market, then you are gonna have to spend a little bit more.As I mentioned, these doors are designed to just drop right in the place of your factory doors. So I give them a very easy one out of three wrenches. The first time you install these, you will be installing the doors limiting straps which will keep the two doors from swinging all the way open and banging into your front fender flare. And of course, you will have to bolt up those latches the first time you install the doors as well. So you have a couple of more minutes the first installation. But after that, it's simply a matter of removing your factory doors. Of course, first, you'll have to remove the retention nut on the hinges and unhook any wiring that you might have onto your back of the door. But once that door is lifted off the hinges and put in a safe place, it's just a matter of dropping your new door into those door hinges and closing it. Now, this does come with retention nuts of its own which you can of course use, but they're not necessary if you decide to forgo using them. I would always recommend putting a little bit of grease on these hinges and on your factory door hinges as well. It just makes opening and closing the door easier as well as lifting the door on and reinstalling it. So after that initial setup of installing the latches and installing the limiting strap, these doors won't take you more than 10 minutes to put on and off of your Jeep. And as long as you're not installing your retention nuts, you won't need any tools and as long as long as you're not installing your retention nuts, you won't need any tools at all. But if you decide to reinstall the nuts, you will need a wrench to do that. So as far as the price of these doors versus some of the other ones on the market, these are going to be a little bit less. You can get a pair of doors for around $300. Some of the ones that are more expensive on the market as far as the Rugged Ridge or Aries, those are gonna be doors that have locking latches that have either mirror attachment points or even come with mirrors that have some additional vinyl door skins that you can put on the doors. So those are gonna be doors that have some additional features, and of course you're gonna pay a little bit more for those features. But if that's not important to you, if you already have an A-pillar mount for your mirrors, if you're not worried about having locking latches, you can save some money and still get a very high-quality door that fits really well. So if you like the idea of taking off your doors and having that open air driving experience but you want a little bit more of a secure feeling and something to brace yourself against when you're in those off-camera situations off-road, a two-door is a great option. And if you're not interested in some of the additional features that some of the more pricey doors have, this is a great way to save some money and get all the benefits of a two-door. So that's my review of the Barricade adventure doors fitting all 2007 and up JKs that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

      1 2012 Wrangler - Dave F

      Very dissatisfied no replacement parts

Doors are nice. But, if you have issues where your latches get damaged there is no way to replace them. Barricade was no help and Extreme Terrain was not either.

2 2017 Wrangler - Brian Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

Great look, probably not worth the money

I really love having the doors off my jeep when the weather is nice, but my family does not share that opinion, ha. I got these doors because I really like that safari look, and when paired with the mesh covers, it allows me to have that open-air feel without my family being scared of having the doors off. When I got the doors, they came well packaged, and included all the necessary parts for installation. The installation was very simple and the only slightly complex part was aligning the door clasp with the door-frame catch. One of the doors did have a bent pin where the door seats with the jeep door-frame hinge. A couple of the doors did not smoothly glide into the door-hinges and required so back-and-forth with downward pressure to get fully seated on the door-hinge. Further, the two front doors both had an issue where the door clasp component was not able to line up correctly with the door-frame latch. This made the doors extremely difficult to open and close because you had to really wedge the door closed tightly to get it to clasp the latch. After talking about the issue with Customer Support they sent me a replacement set for the front doors. The replacement set did resolve the bent pin issue, and they both did have a better fit, where the latch could be set to visually line up with the clasp, however it was still difficult to open and close both of the doors properly. None of the doors (front or rear) fit like a glove within the door-frame and I already have paint streaks along the inside of the door tubing where the miss-alignment causes excessive rubbing to occur. Long story short, even with the poor fit, I still think that the doors look great with that open-air safari look, and my family likes them on the jeep versus having no doors at all, so all-in-all they met my initial need. I do feel, however, that after spending over $500 on the doors and over $300 on the door skins, I do have some buyers remorse because given the cost, I expected the look/feel of the doors to be great but I also expected to have a perfect fit with little to no adjustment necessary and little to no miss-alignment present, meaning that opening and closing the doors would have little to no resistance, such that it would be simple enough for my wife and kids to open/close on their own. But that is not the case. The doors are large and shipping back and forth is a pain for defective products, so I've chosen to accept the quality of my existing set, because in the end, I do really want the doors, but I was fearful that the replacement set would be a worse fit and I would be stuck in a loop of shipping doors back and forth until I found an adequate set. And at least with the ones I have now I can open and close them albeit with some effort. That's probably not a good place to land when spending that kind of money, but at least they look nice!!

      Defective

Hinges welded in wrong place. Poor quality control. Looks good, but, if they don't close then what's the point.

      Doors simply do not fit.

These doors look amazing but it’s almost like the brackets were welding on incorrectly. Even with the opportunity to adjust the catch up and down a bit they were still way off. Returned.

      Tough look

They look great on my Jeep. One door arrived with scratches but it's a Jeep. I had to bend (straighten) one latch and shim both doors for correct fit.

      Good for the price.

Had to get some plastic washers/spacers for the latch to work properly. Other than that, I'm satisfied.

I recently installed these doors on my Jeep. Love them, however; the latch system does not align to well – the latch is too low. In other words, I have to lift the door a bit to get them to connect and lock properly. I have the latch set as far as I can in the upward position. Did I do something wrong? Or, is it normal or OK to use spacers to lift the door? Thx M.
