Review shared from Airaid MXP Series Cold Air Intake w/ SynthaFlow Oiled Filter (12-18 3.6L Jeep Wrangler JK)

3 2018 Wrangler - Stampederfan Installation Time: Afternoon

Nice product but needs some design work

If you have the slightest mechanical ability and a few tools you can install this kit. That being said this one could use a little redesign. The cutting of the factory snorkel is not a huge deal but Airaid could easily just include a bolt on snorkel or redesign the air box so it accepts the stock as a bolt on without cutting it up. I would pay extra not to have to irreversibly modify my stock box. This would also save on the half tube of silicone you will use trying to seal the joint where the air box meets the stock snorkel - the gaps are large. Looks good and functions well after its on but takes a fair bit of time to waterproof (cure and dry) that could be avoided with an additional part or box redesign. More work than necessary from the installation end.

Review shared from Airaid MXP Series Cold Air Intake w/ SynthaFlow Oiled Filter (12-18 3.6L Jeep Wrangler JK)

5 2018 Wrangler - offroadjk Installation Time: Afternoon

        Great Enclosed Intake

Much better intake than all of the open air “cold” air intakes available for the JK. Re-using the factory intake snorkel is a nice touch as well. Install is straight forward other than cutting the snorkel. Please take your time and make a straight cut as I did not, but I still had enough material that it fit in the air box adapter. Sound is noticeable to an extent. Not as loud as open air intakes. #1 complaint and foreseeable problem is that this intake requires you to flip around the factory air box breather line. Once you flip it the hardline is much smaller than the breather tube and is only held on by a QuickClip (as per the instructions).

5 2014 Wrangler - Jmaraccini Installation Time: Afternoon

        Very Nice

This air intake is great, looks good, sounds good and the Instructions where easy to read. Does take a little bit of patience but not much. The only issue I had was one of the nuts didn’t fit the screw intended for it. But overall very satisfied. Haven’t really notice a increase in MPG but have noticed a increase in power, especially on the highway and there is a noticeable growl from the intake when you get into the 2-3k rpms.

5 2017 Wrangler - ElliotD Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

I just received this cold air intake. It took me about an hour to put in, it was very easy. I noticed an immediate gain of Power and around 3.5 to 4 miles gained per gallon. All you got to do is make one small cut in your factory intake tube with a hacksaw. Instructions were pretty easy to follow. Awesome intake!

5 2017 Wrangler - PerryM Installation Time: Afternoon

Sounds great and felt better throttle response immediately Really took my time with the install so was over 2hours but fits great. The product has a lot of good features and thought like upgraded grommets and brackets for the radiator hose. Liked how the stock air intake was repurposed and used an oscillating saw to make a clean cut. Also if I remember right this has fifty state emissions.

4 2017 Rubicon - Cole Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Great deal

For the price you get a decent cold air system. Only complaint is the limited chi he in filter colors which I understand blue and red are the only real choices from quality companies but a wider variety would be nice if you are trying to stick to a color scheme like I am

        Great investment for performance

Was pretty easy to install and now my JK has a nice little growl to it and a couple more miles to the gallon. Definitely looks nice as well when you open the hood.

I am eventually looking to add a snorkel to my jeep, will this cold air intake allow for a snorkel kit? if yes is there anything in particular i should look for when choosing the right kit?

      • The Airaid MXP Series Cold Air Intake SynthaMax Dry Filter (12-14 Wrangler JK w/ 3.6L) should accept a snorkel, however, may require modification to do so. As well, the box may not be watertight.
