      Merideth: Hey guys, so today we're checking out the ZAutomotive Tazer JL Lite Programmer, fitting all 2020 and newer Gladiator JTs. So if getting a little bit more out of your truck when it comes to performance is high up on your priority list, then this is going to be a great programmer to take a look into. Now this is gonna offer a number of different features to unlock a lot of capabilities that your truck has to offer. This programmer will allow you to change parameters including tire size, gear ratio and even your transfer case low ratio which is important if you've already modified your JT to larger wheels and tires or you've changed your gears and you're looking to adjust them or you're looking to do so in the future. Now this will also be able to clear check engine lights, enable and disable your TPMS sensors and even set a notification for the tire pressure as a limit between 25 and 85 psi. So if it notices that your tire pressure is getting a little bit low, it will give you a notification for that, which I think is pretty cool.Now this will also be able to disconnect your sway bars while you're driving up to a certain mile per hour if you have the electronic sway bar and this also will have a cool down mode which will turn your fans on on-demand when the ignition is on, which is great if you've been doing a lot of off-roading and you've noticed that your temps are getting a little hot. This will be able to accommodate for that and even prevent any overheating with your JT. This will also have a rock crawl mode to lock all four brakes with the steering wheel button to hold the truck steel which, again, is an important function while you're going off-road. It's not necessarily necessary but it's a good feature to have if you're doing a lot of rock crawling. Now another feature that will help while you're off-roading or really whenever you need it is the winch mode. Now this is going to raise the idle to 2000 RPMs by simply just pressing a button which is very convenient especially while you're winching so you don't have to sit in the cab area or have someone sit there. This will just automatically do it which is great.Now this will also have a line lock if you wanna do a quick burnout and will have preset as well as custom light show options. So if you go to a lot of car shows and you really wanna bring that wow effect, this is going to have a feature that will allow you to do so. Now this will all be controlled by this little device here sitting on the table and this will connect to your SGW module that sits right behind your OBD2 plug making sure that that's free for any other accessories that you may have on your OBD2. Now this will be able to be accessed with a key fob or in the dash display making it incredibly easy to use, incredibly easy to go through all those settings and change them on the fly. Now this also will be able to be unplugged while keeping all of the settings and the button functions the same. So if you have to update the firmware or disconnect it for any reason, I do like that it keeps everything exactly how you left it on your JT.Now this will also come with a micro USB to make sure that your firmware is up to date and I do recommend checking that when you do get this in if you do order this and just making sure it's the most recent version of the firmware before you install it on your JT. Now when it comes to price, this will be pretty reasonable for all the features that it has, coming in at right around the $250 mark. Now when comparing this to other choices on the page, this is going to be incredibly compact. It's very little and it's also going to only be accessed through your Gladiator's computer settings or on the steering wheel. Now what I like about that is that it's very straightforward, very user-friendly and you can use all of the features that your truck already has to offer when accessing all of the features. Now other options may include a handheld device or they may have a complete computer swap with pre-programmed settings so you may not be able to modify in the future.So if you have sent out that computer or the ECU to be programmed, when it comes back, those are going to be basically the settings that I wouldn't say you're stuck with but you have for the time being. So you'd have to send it out again if you upgraded to larger wheels and tires or you want to modify something in the future, as to where this is very easy and you can modify it on the fly. Now when comparing this to other options by ZAutomotive, this is going to be the lite programmer and there's also the tazer mini. Now this will be the smaller version and by that I mean it's not gonna have as many features that the mini is going to have to offer. Now some of the features that won't be included on this lite programmer that will be included on the mini are going to be disabling/enabling some factory functions, being able to access your backup camera at any time, dark mode and a couple others. So, in my opinion, I think if you don't need all the bells and whistles, if you're looking for something that's going to be pretty straightforward, give you all the necessities out of a programmer while also giving you some extra features that you can utilize while you're off-road, then the lite programmer is gonna be right up your alley.Now if you are interested in a full breakdown list of the features of the JL mini and the lite programmer that I have here, we do have that available on this site to kinda give you a visual of what features this won't have in comparison to the mini. Now what I will say about this programmer is that this is going to have a lot of those standard features and added features that you want out of a programmer. So if you don't necessarily wanna go over the top when it comes to a device, you're looking for something that's gonna save you a couple of bucks in comparison to some other options in the category, this is going to be a great choice to look into. Now when it comes to install, this is going to be very easy. Most of the install is just going to be getting very familiar with the device in all of its settings. So I'm gonna give this a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you no time to get this installed with no hand tools.Now, you may have a little bit of trouble disconnecting that SGW module so you may wanna have something on hand that's gonna help you disconnect it like a flathead or a very small pry tool but otherwise, it does come apart pretty easily so it is going to be very easy to put this onto your truck, and like I stated before, just make sure you have the most up-to-date version of the firmware to make sure you're getting all of the benefits that you want out of this programmer. So that is going to wrap it up for my review. We actually have one of our installers here that's going to walk you through the install process step by step. So, let's go ahead and jump into the install.Male: Tools needed for today's install is a simple flashlight. It does not have to be what we have. What's up guys? I'm going to be showing you how to install your Tazer JL Lite in your Gladiator. Let's get started. Okay. So for the first step of this install we're gonna have to unplug our secure gateway module which is gonna be located right above your OBD2 connector. You're gonna look straight up and you're gonna see two wiring harnesses coming out of that. We're gonna just go ahead and unplug those. Get your flashlight handy, we're gonna get started now. All right. Now that we have our wires unplugged, I am going to bring them down for us so we can get those visible for you. There's one, and you're just gonna reach up, like I said, above the OBD2 plug and there's gonna be two and you're gonna depress the side on the engine. I got one and two and we're gonna bring those down. They should both have white ends like that.So once you have your wires unplugged, the wiring harness ends, they're gonna look just like this, the two wide ends. One should be larger and one should be smaller. All right. Now that we have our JL Lite handy, we're gonna, like I said again, the small and the larger section, just gonna grab it. Plug it in and once it starts blinking, you know that you've connected it correctly. All right. Once you have your JL Lite plugged in and secured, now would be a good time to maybe add some double-sided tape or to zip tie it and secure it. That way, you know, it doesn't interfere with while you're driving, like, fall down and hit you in the leg or something. We're gonna just stick ours up and secure it for video demonstration purposes. Now we're gonna go ahead and jump in. All right. So now that we have our Tazer installed, the first step, the first thing we're gonna wanna do is to come over and turn on the accessory then run. So key on engine off. Let it go through with all of its prompts. So we got our service tire pressure system. It's because we have aftermarket wheels which is expected. So we're gonna scroll down until we see audio.Now this is the screen that's gonna allow us to communicate with the Tazer. So what you're gonna do is you're gonna hold left on the steering wheel controls and hit cancel. Left. Cancel. Let go. First thing to show up is light show. We're gonna continue, same thing. Cancel. DTC's zero. Clear check engine lights and then marry. For this step, we're gonna do, instead of hitting cancel, we're gonna hit left on the steering wheel and then we're gonna hit the cruise control button. This should allow the device to marry with the vehicle itself. We're gonna go ahead and do that and then we got our marrying and our countdown. So if you have your countdown that means you've done it correctly. So now this is just pairing with the computer itself. Then you get the prompt married and that means you can keep this installed now. You are good to go. We can go through some more prompts with you guys. Perf. TPMS, that's where you can turn on and off your TPMS system entirely.That is your firmware. Serial number and then a full reboot. Back to light show. This is a good feature if you're going to like a car show or something. You could pre-program it so it'll kinda flicker or flash all the lights around the car. Take you through some more DTC's. You could actually read if you needed to. Again, the enter button would be the cruise control on and off which would be right there. We don't have any so we're gonna keep going through. Clear check engine light. So we could do that. I could show you how you would, left, and then check engine lights cleared. Obviously, you're gonna get a couple other systems that are flashing because we just flashed the computer and then obviously, if you were to have to unplug this for any reason at all, you would go to unmarry, unplug that and you do have to plug that into what we unplugged it from, which was the SGW module, standing for the secure gateway module. Then we got Perf, TPMS and updating, and I did wanna mention to you guys that if you leave this Tazer plugged in, you will get live features.I'm gonna go ahead and start the vehicle now to show you some of those features that you can access. All right, and we are gonna go back down to audio. Same thing to go through the prompts. Okay. So now you're gonna have winch, tire fill, dark mode, video. It looks like it's measuring something in mercury. I guess it's vacuum. Try it again. Updating. Zero to 60 and back to normal, but yeah just some of the features that you can access while leaving that plugged in with the vehicle running.
