Hey, guys. So today we're checking out the RedRock 4x4 21-inch Trail Antenna, fitting all 2020 and newer Gladiator JTs. So, if you are looking for an incredibly easy and affordable mod to do to your JT for a little bit of extra functionality and some extra off-road styling, then this is gonna be a great choice to take a look into. Now, a trail antenna is good for a number of different reasons. A lot of the time, especially with this one, this is going to be a lot more low-profile than the factory antenna. Now, this is going to be one of the longer choices between the other options available on the page for a trail antenna, but this is going to be significantly shorter than the factory one. Now, what's good with that is the fact that this is going to stay out of the way, especially while you're out on the trail from any brush or branches and even if you're just on your daily adventures going through the car wash. This is not going to be as much of an annoyance as the factory metal one is.Now, speaking of the construction, this is gonna be made of a rubber material or have a rubber coating on it. So, if it does lash back and hit the paint or hit the windshield, it's not going to do any damage at all. It's not going to make that very annoying noise that we know of very well with the factory one. And not to mention, this is going to be pretty durable so if you do take it out on the trail, it is going to be very flexible and move around and it's also going to be very durable as far as the rubber is concerned and stand up to the elements. Now, with all that being said, this is also going to just give it a very sporty look in comparison to the factory antenna. As we know, the factory antenna doesn't really look that great, especially coming right out of the factory and moving over to something like this is just going to give a subtle hint of an off-road vibe or an off-road feel to the side of your Gladiator for a very affordable price at that coming in at roughly $30. Now, in comparison to some other choices, like I said, a lot of other options are usually just going to differ by length. So, this is one of your longest choices being at 21 inches in comparison to some other options that are 15, 13, even go down to the very stubby options. So, this will be more for somebody who is looking for a sporty look but wants to keep excellent satellite reception in comparison to the other ones that are very stubby, are mainly for looks. They still will give you some good satellite reception. However, if you live in a more rural area, something a little bit longer like this one may be more up your alley in comparison to something that's a lot shorter. Then you have a lot of other choices that are those stubby options that are like the 50 Cal bullet antennas that are these solid antennas. This one is going to be, again, very flexible in comparison to those and, of course, is going to be a little bit longer for that reception. So overall, I think if you're looking for something that's going to be easy, affordable, sporty and give you some functionality in the meantime, then this is gonna be a great choice. Now, when it comes to install, I'm gonna give this an incredibly easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter taking you about five minutes to get the job done and you're only gonna need one tool to do it. So, speaking of the install, let's jump into that now.The tool that I used for my install was a 10-millimeter wrench. So, this install is going to be incredibly easy. All you really need is a 10-millimeter wrench. We're gonna go ahead and use this just to break the antenna free and then once you're able to twist it by hand, we can just twist this. Might be helpful to turn it a couple more time if it does get a little bit difficult to thread off with your fingers. Then we can just pop this out of the place. So, before we go ahead and install our new antenna, I did want to stop down and show you guys the new antenna next to our factory one and some of the similarities and the differences. Now, obviously, you can tell that these are going to be very different and they are going to function a little bit differently as well. Now, the factory one is about 35 inches long depending on where you measure it as to where our new one is going to be significantly shorter at about 21 inches. Now, this is going to be one of the longer options for the trail antennas, but this still is going to be a lot shorter and stay out of the way while you're out on the trail or even while you're just going through the car wash or doing your daily things. This is going to be a lot more low-profile than the factory one here. Not to mention, the factory one is going to just not really look the best coming out of the factory. It's going to have that silver look to it and again, it is going to be very long and in the way as to where this new choice here is going to have a nice rubber coating to it. Not only is that going to protect the internal of the antenna, make sure that it holds up to any weathering, but it's also going to be very flexible and look a lot better and give a more sporty look to the antenna itself. So, speaking of being flexible, when you're out on the trail, if this does get in the way, this is going to bend and it is going to bounce right back as to where this is metal. If it does bounce back, it is going to start to ding your paint. This one, again, fully plastic or rubber, should I say. So, this is not going to do any damage. It is going to be a lot more durable than the factory one and it's still going to give you very good reception when it comes to your radio. This is, being the longer one of the trail antennas, going to most likely give you the best reception considering it is the longest out of them. So, if you're living in a more rural area, you're still going to get some pretty good reception with this option. So overall, big difference in functionality, big difference in looks. This is going to be a big upgrade for your Gladiator even though it is such a small mod and they're super easy to install. All you have to do is thread them on by hand. So, what do you say we go ahead and do that? So again, this just threads on by hand. We don't have any cutout for a wrench here which is fine. These only really need to be hand-tight anyway. So, what we're gonna do is just make sure that that is good and tight as far as being hand-tight is concerned and then you're all set to go.So, that is going to be wrap it up for my review and install.
