Hey guys, I'm Eric with ExtremeTerrain. In this video, I'm going to give you my review and install of these 5-inch iStep Running Boards in Black, for all 2020 and later Jeep Gladiators. Now, these iStep running boards are really ideal for the Gladiator owner out there who is looking for easier access to and exit from the cab of their trucks. Now, stepping into your Jeep Gladiator in its stock form is a tall enough task as it is, but if you're going to add larger tires or a lift to your truck, you're definitely going to want a side step or running board type of solution. Now, these running boards from iStep are designed with a ribbed pattern on the step pad that has squared edges and a slightly textured surface. It's going to make it safer stepping on these and getting in or out of your truck, regardless of the conditions you're in. Now, these running boards from iStep are made from high-grade aircraft aluminum alloy, and they are finished in a durable black powder coat. That's going to give them a lot of life and durability over the course of many miles to come. Now, I think most Jeeps, especially in the sport trim levels, whether you're talking Gladiator or Wrangler, look a little naked when they come from the factory, not having anything down here. Now, while these running boards from iStep are not overly stylized, they do have a rugged utilitarian look that I kind of like, and it's definitely going to finish out the appearance of your truck, give it a more completed look, and as well as the function that you're going to get with these running boards. Now, being full-length running boards, running from wheel well to wheel well, they will provide a certain level of protection to your rocker panels, and that's an area of your Jeep that is especially vulnerable to flying rocks and other debris, whether you're traveling down dirt roads or down the interstate. And as we know, when you get rock chips down there, that also makes your rocker panels very vulnerable to corrosion and rust in the long term. So these running boards from iStep will offer a certain level of protection against that. Now, as far as price goes, guys, these are very competitively priced right now. You should be able to get them for right around $300, makes them very competitive against a lot of other running boards and side steps that you're going to see out there. And as far as the installation goes, it really is quite simple, as you'll see here in just a minute. Some basic tools are all you're going to need. I'm giving it a very basic one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, and you should be able to get this job done in two hours or less. So with that said, let's take a look at the tools we're going to use and get to the installation. All right, guys, tools to use for this installation are an electric impact wrench, but you could also very easily use a hand socket wrench, 13 and 10-millimeter sockets, and a 10-millimeter crescent. All right, before. We get to our installation, guys, I just wanted to show you some of the hardware and brackets we're going to be using for this. It's a pretty straightforward installation, but I just wanted to call out the labeling on here makes it nice and easy to show you where you're going to place the brackets. Now, they're not side-specific versus driver or passenger, they're interchangeable that way, but they're noted on here DFM, DCM, and DRM for driver front, driver center, and driver rear. Now, that's going to tell you where to place these. Now, as far as the hardware goes, there are two different types of hex bolts in the kit. You've got these larger-diameter, thicker ones. These are going to be the bolts that go up and bolt directly into a threaded hole that's already on your Jeep. And then you're going to have these smaller hex head bolts that are going to be two each on each bracket, and you're going to be using a nylon lock nut on these as well.So the biggest challenge for getting these larger bolts installed is if you've already been putting miles on your Jeep, you might have some dirt and debris up in that threaded hole. I would definitely recommend getting a pipe cleaner or something like that, shooting some lubricant up in there, and cleaning it out, and checking that first because if you try to put a bolt into a dirty hole like that, it's going to cause problems, maybe cross-threading. So you want to avoid that if at all possible. So let's go ahead and get to the install. All right, guys. Now, I'm here at the driver-side front position. I have the appropriate bracket and one of the fatter hex head bolts. I'm just going to line up our bracket like that. Like I said, it goes into the threaded holes on the underside of your Jeep. And to tighten it up, I'm going to use a 13-mil socket. Then we'll go ahead and get the other bolts for the front side. All right. Now using some of these smaller bolts, go ahead and slide one in. You got two washers, one for front and back. And we're just going to repeat this on down the line. All right, guys, now I have our side step up here on the table, and I wanted to show you the underside. It has these tracks in here. You have six per side of these square-headed bolts, and they drop right into the ends of the tracks here, and we'll slide them in. And we'll just adjust those when we mate the running board up to the side of the truck. So just go ahead and get three in each track started. Each bracket will have two. And then for each one of these bolts, you'll have a flat washer and another nylon locking nut. So I'm just going to position these approximately where they go, and then when we mate it up to the truck, we'll get it a little bit more precise. All right. So let's get it on the truck. All right, guys, now I have this held up here. Thanks to the design and the construction using high-grade aircraft aluminum, this is pretty light and pretty easy to maneuver around all by yourself. So I'm just going to rest it up on here, and from the underside, I'll be able to slide the bolts where I need them to be to line up with these holes. And we're not going to tighten anything up. As you can see, this is also adjustable in and out, as well as front to back. So once we get all the bolts lined up in the holes, we can align the running board exactly where we want it to be.All right, guys, once you have the alignment of the running board where you want it, go ahead and grab a nut and washer for each one of these bolts. These are the same 10-millimeter sized nuts we were using earlier. And go ahead and repeat that on down the line. Then go ahead and repeat all these other steps on the other side of the Jeep. All right, guys. That about does it for this review and install of these 5-inch iStep Running Boards in Black, for all 2020 and later Jeep Gladiators. And of course, for all things Gladiator, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
