Merideth: If you're planning on that overlanding trip or a family vacation but you're unsure of how you're gonna fit everything in the back of your 2020 or newer JT Gladiator with the factory hard top, this Barricade HDX Hard Top Roof Rack will be a great solution for you. Now, this will be a solid option if you don't want those oversized items, or really anything that you're taking with you, taking up a majority of the room in your bed area for wherever you're going. Now, the rack will also offer more of a subtle appearance if you're looking for a nice middle ground. You don't want something that's going to be more oversized, like a basket, but you're also looking for a bit more function and a bit more room compared to crossbar systems. This rack is gonna feature roughly a 54-by-56-inch platform surface, with four 4-inch wide crossbars, offering ample room to strap down your things. Now, the crossbars are also gonna have a treaded design on top, giving your items a little bit of traction when they're mounted up. Now, what I think I like most about this is that it's going to be simple and straightforward in design to put on, with clamps on either side that are gonna secure into the drip rails. You're also going to have support in the middle, so you don't have to worry about that extra cargo, while also being very easy to install and take off and store if you're not using this all the time. Now, if you do plan on keeping this on all year round, like most of you will, like I mentioned, this is going to be very low-profile, so it's not gonna get in the way, and it's also going to have a very sleek appearance compared to other larger systems. Now, this will be made of a tough aluminum construction, so it's gonna be incredibly lightweight, while also maintaining a strong design. Now, the brackets are all going to be made of a steel construction, so you can really count on those to hold up. And this is also gonna come with seals, to make sure that that steel isn't making any contact with your hardtop. Now, this will all have a nice textured black powder coat finish on top, which is going to resist any surface scratching when you're putting things up on top of the rack. But it's also gonna do a great job of protecting from the elements, for any rust or corrosion that could potentially happen on the materials. Now, it's also just going to match incredibly well with other black accessories or heavy-duty accessories that you have on the JT. This will also be completely bolt-on, so you don't have to worry about modification or drilling when it comes to your brand-new JT, so you can keep some peace of mind that this is going to be an easy solution for that extra cargo. Now, this is gonna come in at roughly $750, which I would say is on the more affordable side when comparing it to other platform racks. Now, when comparing this to other racks, again, this is gonna be a perfect middle ground. This is gonna be very low-profile, while being able to take advantage of the entire hard top. Now, this will offer ample space for your larger and more medium-sized cargo, without being bigger and bulkier, and it's just gonna stay out of the way, but it's also gonna give you more than the standard crossbar rack. Not to mention, other platform racks may require modification or drilling into the hard top, as to where this is going to be completely bolt-on. So, I think if you don't necessarily need every single bell and whistle, you just want a solid, straightforward, and very easy-to-use system, then this is gonna be great for you. Now, install is gonna be a simple 1 out of 3 wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about two hours to get the job done, with some basic hand tools for that initial setup. As you can see, the rack is broken down into two pieces. This is how it will be when it comes out of the box. You will have to, obviously, mount these two pieces together, and then get everything on the brackets and onto the Jeep. But because this is lightweight, it's gonna be very easy to do. However, at this point, we can head over to the shop and check out a detailed breakdown on how to get this onto your Gladiator at home. So, that's gonna wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into the install.Man: The tools you're gonna need for this install include an electric or regular 3/8" ratchet, a 4-millimeter Allen key, a 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench, 13-millimeter socket, and a 10-millimeter wrench. What's up, guys? Today we're gonna be installing a roof rack on our Gladiator, so let's get started. All right, guys. So, our first step is we're gonna have our rack on the table. To combine these, we're gonna be using these slip joints that came in the kit. What this does is this is just gonna slide in between the rails to connect, and then on the outside, we'll grab our eight included bolts, and we're gonna tighten those up. So, now we're just gonna open up the two parts of our rack. Slide this part in till it hits. I'm gonna do that same thing for the other end. Now, once we have this started, we're gonna go over and do it on the other side. Now, once we have both in on each side, I'm just gonna pull them together. Now our holes are lined up, so we can grab our included bolt, lock washer, and washer. We're gonna thread these in. So, now we can grab a 4-millimeter Allen key, and we're gonna tighten these in. Now we're gonna do that same thing for the other side. All right, guys. So, next step, we're gonna be installing our front mounting bracket. The way to tell that this is the front one is these two have ridges in them, and the back ones are more square. So, the first thing we're gonna do... So, now we can put our foam piece on the bottom, so it doesn't scratch. We're gonna have it lined up like this. So, I'm gonna peel that backing off. Gonna press down. So, now what we're gonna do is we're going to install it like so, so the slot on this mount lines up with these two slots. So, then we'll grab our bolt plate. We're gonna slide this under. Gonna put that on top. Then we're gonna grab our included washers. Put those over the studs. Then we'll thread on our nuts that will go over top. Now we're gonna snug these up with a 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench. We don't need to tighten these down all the way. When we install this onto the vehicle, gotta make sure that everything is lined up first. All right. So, now we have a little bit of wiggle room. You repeat that process for the other side. All right, guys. One more thing before we move to the rear. We have this rubber strip here that's gonna sit on top of our mount, so when this sits on the vehicle, it's not going to scratch. Just gonna have that sit on top. Then we can grab our included foam strip. We're gonna peel the backing off, and lay that right here. And now we can move on to the rear. All right. Moving on to the rear, it's pretty much the same thing, but the only thing is, like I mentioned, this is a square and the other is more pointed with ridges. So, now we can peel our backing off of the foam, stick this onto our mount. Now we can get this onto our rack. Grab our bolt plate and do that same thing as we did in the front. Got washers, and our nuts. I'm gonna snug these up with our 10-millimeter ratchet wrench. Last, we'll put on our foam strip. Peel that backing off. Put it right on top. And our rubber strip on top. Now you can repeat this process for the other side. So, now we're gonna be installing the side mounts. So, we're gonna locate this hole here. And you could either pick left or right hole. Either one you do, you're gonna have to compensate for the other side, and make sure that they're even. So, then we're gonna grab our small bolt and our washer. We're gonna put this through the bottom, and our mount on top, following our washer and our nut. Now we can tighten these down with two 10-millimeter wrenches. Leave enough room so we can adjust later. Now you can repeat this for the remaining three mounts. All right, guys. So, next, we're gonna be focusing on this main area. There is cage bolts with washers and nuts on them. That's going to be for these brackets. That could be for your fog lights or any aftermarket lights that you have. So, pretty much what we're gonna do, we're gonna take two, set these down here, for the other end. Just gonna leave these in the middle. Then come over here to this side. We're gonna remove the nut and washer from both of them. Set them down. I'm gonna take our bracket, just gonna slide them into these studs. And we're gonna reinstall those washers and nut. Now we'll tighten these up with our 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench. And we're gonna do that same thing on the other side. Come over to the other side, we're gonna do that same exact thing. Put our washers in there first, then our nuts. Again, we'll tighten these up with our 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench. Now, for the middle, it'll be this style bracket. So, we're gonna do the same steps. We're gonna have this hook facing on the outside of the cage. So, then we can throw those washers back over, following with our nuts. We'll tighten them down with our 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench. All right. And now you can repeat these processes for the backside of our rack. All right, guys. So, at this point, we're ready to get our roof rack onto the vehicle. We're gonna grab an extra set of hands to help you lift this onto the vehicle. So, now that we have our roof rack on the vehicle, we need to tighten it down. So, we're gonna use this style clamp. You're gonna go through the slot on the top of our roof rack. And up here, it's gonna be a washer and nut. Just have that on there. And then we're gonna grab our smaller bolt, lock washer, and washer. We're gonna thread those in. Just gonna get these two started. Now we can grab a 13-millimeter socket. We're gonna tighten up this one first. Once we have those tightened, we can tighten down these two. Now you can repeat that process for the other front mount. All right, guys. So, for these middle brackets, that'll be the thinner ones, we're gonna slide that through the top first, where we can thread on our washer and our nut. Then we can thread our smaller bolt, lock washer, and washer into our mount of the roof rack. Now we can tighten our nut down with our 13-millimeter socket. And we can come over and tighten up our bolt. Now you can repeat this process for the remaining three middle mounts. All right, guys. So, for the rear, it's gonna be that same clamp. The only thing different is we're adding a spacer to this. So, we're gonna put that behind the clamp. We're gonna grab the long bolts, lock washer, and washer. Gonna put these through. We're gonna thread these into these two holes. And for our top, we have the same washer and our nut. I'm gonna tighten these two up with a 13-millimeter socket. We'll come up to the top, and tighten it down. All right. And now your roof rack is installed. So, that's gonna wrap up the review and install on our Barricade HDX Hard Top Roof Rack for your '20 to '23 Jeep Gladiator JT.
