Hey, guys. It's Sara with extremeterrain.com, and today we have a review and install of the Barricade Adventure HD Front Bumper, fitting your 2020 and newer Jeep Gladiators. This is perfect for the Gladiator owners who want to upgrade their front bumper and want a budget-friendly option that sets them up for a winch and lighting down the road. This bumper features plate steel construction with a nice textured black powder coat finish and also features this hoop and supports. This bumper also features a built-in winch plate that's rated for winches up to 12,000 pounds. It also has high-strength D-ring mounts and includes D-rings that are rated up to 9,500 pounds. This bumper also includes fog light housings, as well as brackets, so you can use your factory fog lights, they'll bolt right up to this bumper. It also features some mounting points on the hoop for the addition of some aftermarket lighting. So, as far as price goes, this one comes in at around $450 which is on the lower end price-wise when compared to other options. And for your money, you are getting a full-width steel front bumper that has nice features like the winch plate, mounts for additional lighting, and includes D-rings. And as far as the install goes I'm giving this one a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature a direct bolt-up installation that can be done within two hours. So, with that said, let's check out the install. For this install. We used an electric ratchet but a regular hand ratchet will work just fine. You will also need 18-millimeter, 16-millimeter, 13-millimeter, 10-millimeter, and 8-millimeter sockets, a T20 Torx socket. You may want an extension or a swivel extension, you'll need a 7-millimeter wrench, and a pop clip removal tool. All right, so the first step in our uninstall is to grab a pop clip removal tool and remove two pop clips right on the top of the plastic piece behind your bumper. Moving on to the underside of our bumper, we're gonna remove all of the pop clips that hold on our splash guard. With your pop clip removal tool, get these out.Next up, remove two bolts, one on either side of the splash guard, with an 8-millimeter socket. Be careful because the splash guard will start to come down once the bolts are removed. Next up, we're gonna take off this plate underneath that splash guard. You're gonna need a 16-millimeter socket, go ahead and get these bolts removed. It should stay in place because it's hooked in up top. Once you have all of your bolts removed, unhook it and remove it. At this point, we're gonna disconnect the fog light harness connector. It's a large gray connector and what we're gonna do is press down on the tab and pull back to remove it. Now you have to remove eight 18-millimeter nuts, 2 on each side of the frame. Grab an 18-millimeter socket and you may want an extension, get these removed. Repeat that process on the other side of the frame. For this top one, you may need a swivel. Repeat that on the other side of the bumper. Again, two nuts on each side of the frame. With all of your nuts removed off of the bumper, you can now remove it.All right, now that we have our factory bumper uninstalled, we can check it out side by side with our new bumper here. Now, our new bumper does look a bit smaller but it's just as strong if not stronger than the plastic of your factory bumper. It features a steel construction and has a nice textured black powder coat finish for that aftermarket look. It allows you to keep all of the features of your factory bumper like your fog lights and tow hooks. It replaces the hooks with D-rings which are actually a lot stronger and better for use in recovery situations. In addition, it also features brackets for lighting and the overrider hoop there as well as a winch plate for the addition of a winch down the line. So, with that said, let's finish up the install. Now, before we can install our bumper, we do need to remove these support brackets. There's one on each side of the frame. Grab a 16-millimeter socket, we're gonna get these removed. Now we're gonna transfer over our fog lights and the harness to our new bumper. In order to access the harness itself, we do need to remove four 13-millimeter bolts. So, grab a 13-millimeter socket and you may want an extension, go ahead and get these removed. Now you can lift the metal piece out of the bumper. All right at this point, we can unplug our fog light connector for our harness and repeat that on the other side. And now we can begin to disconnect all the pop clips that hold the harness to the bumper itself. With a pop clip removal tool, go ahead and remove them. Next up we're gonna remove the fog light itself and to do that there are three T20 Torx bolts on the outside. Grab a T20 Torx socket and get these removed. Line up your factory fog lights with the brackets on the bumper. And with the included hardware, an Allen head bolt, a lock washer, and a washer, you're gonna thread them into the three openings on the inside, there should be threaded holes. Now using the same hardware combination, thread it through the open hole on the other side. Then we'll be adding another washer with a nut on the backside. Now with a 7-millimeter wrench to hold the nut on the backside and your included Allen key, tighten it down. Repeat that on the other side. Next up we're gonna install the bolt plates through the bracket on your bumper. Line it up to the top hole and then we're gonna put on these plastic retainers to hold them in place so we can get the bumper installed. Repeat that on the other side.At this point, we can get the bumper lined up on our Jeep. We're lining up those bolt plates with the top openings on the frame and sliding it in place. Now we're gonna install the other hardware. We have a bolt with a washer and lock washer and this goes right into the bottom section here. May take a bit to get it lined up and get the threads started. Now we can get our hardware installed, we're gonna start with a bolt, lock washer, and washer and this goes into the bottom opening and threads into the nut part of this bolt and nut plate. You may have to lift a little bit or try to line up the plate with the opening to get the threads in. And on top, we're gonna slide a washer, lock washer, and nut over the stud that is sticking out and get that threaded on as well. Moving on to the other side of the frame, you're gonna repeat that process with a washer, lock washer, and nut overtop of the stud sticking out. And then a bolt with a lock washer and washer into the lower opening. Repeat that on the other mounting point. Again repeat that on the other side of your frame. Now with a ratchet and 18-millimeter socket, go ahead and tighten these bolts down. Repeat that with the rest of your bolts and nuts. Now, at this point, we're gonna plug in our harness for our fog lights. And then we're gonna route the harness through the bumper. Make sure you're tucking it away and securing it where you can. Once your harness is routed, plug in the fog light on the other side. And then plug in the main connector if this is gray and finish tucking up your wiring. Finally, we can install the D-rings. With the bolt out, line it up with a hole in your bumper and reinstall the bolt. Repeat that on the other side. All right, so that is gonna do it for the review and install of this bumper. And remember for all things Gladiator, keep it at extremeterrain.com.
