Merideth: If you're concerned about kickup or rock chips getting to the hood and want some stylish protection, this Aeroskin II Hood Protector in Textured Black will be a great solution for your 2020 or newer Gladiator JT. Now, this will be perfect if you notice that the front of the hood is starting to get beat up with kickup on the street or the trail and want to protect your paint or even cover up any existing imperfections. Now, in addition to protection, this will also be a great pick if you want to add some small black accents to the Jeep for some contrast, especially with the textured black appearance. Now, this will feature a full coverage design that spans across the hood with cutouts on either side for the hood latches for a custom fit. It's also gonna have a contoured design with this ray center here, and that's going to help deflect any pebbles or bugs from getting to the back portion of the hood and even the windshield. Now, this will be made of a specialized TPO plastic material, which will remain lightweight while offering the strength needed to take those smaller hits. I also like the fact that this is gonna have a nice, textured black finish on top, which kind of fits very well with the OE textured black, so it's gonna match any other OE accessories that you already have on your JT. Now, as you can see, this is also just going to have an overall very good fit and is made to the exact hood specs for a custom appearance. Now, on the back, this will also feature a heavy-duty auto-grade tape that will keep this in place for years to come, and it's not gonna require any modification for a straightforward install. Now, this will come in at roughly $200, which will put this at more of a premium price point compared to others on the page. Now, what I do really like about this is the small details in the design, like the cutouts on the side and the raised center here, which really give it a premium appearance. Now, others on the page that may be a little less expensive compared to this option will usually include a more simplistic design or an overall completely different design, like a bolt-on appearance or even an acrylic build. Now, I think if you want more of a premium choice for a hood protection and a seamless appearance, then this is gonna be right up your alley. Now, install will be very straightforward, one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about 15 minutes to get the job done. Now, speaking of the install, one of our customers here has installed this on their JT and they're gonna break down the install for you step by step. So, that's gonna wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Brian: All right, guys. Here's the parts we're gonna need for this installation. As you can see, the AVS gives you a scan, like a QR code, I think they're called. You just use your phone and it gives you the step-by-step instructions like you can see here on my phone. Comes with a couple of alcohol prep pads. I would recommend getting some blue painter's tape for this installation and maybe a little extra alcohol and a rag.Hey, guys. Brian here. I just recently purchased this AVS Aeroskin II hood protector. Basically, what this thing does, as you can see, I'll just dry fit it on the Jeep. It kind of protects your hood from rocks hit, from coming-up, bugs, any kind of other debris, and protects the front lip of your hood here from getting scratched up and that kind of thing. I think it also gives the vehicle more of like a tactical look. Kind of cool and it offsets the colors. So, let's go ahead and get this thing installed.Okay. First step in the installation is make sure that this area right here all along the hood here is clean, very, very clean. So, you can either use like a car wash or maybe like a quick detailer, but just make sure this area gets really good and clean. Okay, guys. Step two, what we want to do is just open up the alcohol pad. We're gonna clean this area with these alcohol pads really good. It just removes any kind of grease and residual oils, and it gets the surface ready and prepped for the 3M tape. Make sure you clean the areas, you're gonna dry fit that piece on here and you'll see where the red tape goes. Just make sure you hit all those areas really well. All right, guys. Step three, we gotta prep the hood deflector, okay? We gotta prep this tape and make sure we're ready to install it. Now, one little like tip I like to give is that if you just ripped all this red off and just had tape exposed and then you stuck it up on the hood, if you don't get it just situated just right, that thing's gonna stick and then you're never gonna be able to get it back off. So, there's a couple of things I like to do, right? I like to get some tweezers, it kind of helps get this little red part off. And I just want you to start the tape. Just start it just a little bit, just enough to where you can kind of get it around to the front side of the deflector.Okay. So, we're gonna take the little piece of red tape that we started. We're gonna flip it around to the backside, but also get a piece of blue painter's tape to kind of stick to it and flip it around to the other side. That way, it holds that red tape there so you can grab it later on in the process, okay? We're also gonna grab...now, we're gonna take from the inside, the inside of the visor to the outside, okay? Take another little piece of blue tape, attach it, and flip it over to the other side. Now, see what that does is it only exposes a little bit of the tape. That way, when we go to place this on the vehicle, you're not getting stuck with a bunch of the whole strip of tape, just a little bit. That way, if you make a mistake, you can always...it's still a little bit of a process to get it off, but you can get it off without, you know, taking the whole strip of tape off. Nearly impossible once you get it on there with the whole strip. So, same thing with this long piece here. You're just gonna flip it over. So, you're gonna flip it over to the other side with the blue tape and stick it to the back, okay? Now, on the end of this strip, I like to grab this...even though we started it down here, okay, I like to do it down here as well because you never know, you might pull on it and the thing breaks and then it's stuck behind the bug deflector and it's gonna be very difficult to get off. See, some of this red tape is really hard to get off. If you don't have nails like me, the tweezers really seem to help get it started. Almost kind of hard, but see, we got it. All right. I'm gonna grab some tape, flip it to the other side. All right. We're just gonna keep going down the line. Here we see how it's almost like bent at a 45-degree angle and now your tape's stuck to the other side of it so we can grab it later down the road once we do a good placement on it...placement fitting. You want to keep going around each little piece of tape, just keep flipping 'em over. Make sure you don't expose too much of that actual 3M tape. That stuff is sticky. And like I said, at the end of each tape, even though you started it like I started it down here, right, this one single piece of tape ends here, but I'm still gonna go ahead and grab this piece and flip it around to the other side. It's just a little safety precaution. All right, guys. Now, check it out. This is how we're gonna...this is what it ends up looking like prepped, right, so when we only have these little pieces of tape shown. Like I said, that's why when you get the fitting, you put it up on there. It's not gonna be like permanently stuck with this whole piece of tape. And if you aren't happy with the way it's lined up, just pulling it off with this little bit of tape should be pretty easy so you can readjust it. All right. Here we go.All right, guys. Step four is just putting this hood protector on. We're gonna make sure...you know, put it on nice and slow, make sure you kind of before those little pieces of tape stick, you can kind of feel when it's kind of on there centered with your fingers. And you wanna make sure you leave a 16th of an inch around all these side parts here. And once you feel like it's centered, you can give it a little bit of a press on the ends, okay? With those little pieces that we left, you'll know where they're at. So, you can kind of give it a little press. Then you can kind of step back, check the sides, make sure they feel the same on each side right here under these corners. And once you're happy with the placement and the fitting, this is when we're gonna move on to step five, which is gonna be removing the red tape. Now, you can see this is where these blue pieces of tape come in handy. You kind of can lift them up, and you're gonna see the red pieces of tape underneath. Okay? So, now what we're gonna do is just peel this tape off and we're gonna push down on those sections as we pull the tape up. All right. There's one. Keep pushing down as you go. Number two. We're gonna push down. They say for 3M tape, the best time to hold down is about 30 seconds. I don't really feel like you need to do that if the area's really, really clean. We're gonna go back and push down some more at the end. I like to do little sections at a time and just kinda push down and hold it. Make sure that 3M tape's really getting some time to stick, maybe a foot at a time, but you can get it off. That's why that little safety piece of tape, you know, we did both ends. That would've come in handy to have that extra blue piece of tape there.Okay. Start this one. This corner, hold this corner down for a couple of seconds. We're almost done. Very, very simple installation. Very easy. Give it a one out of a five. And that's it. I think it looks really cool. Makes the Jeep definitely look more tactical. Little more aggressive.Merideth: So that's gonna wrap it up for my reviewing and the install the Aeroskin II Hood Protector in Textured Black fitting all 2020 and newer JT Gladiators.
