Merideth: Hey, guys. So today, we're checking out the WeatherTech TechLiner Tailgate Liner in Black, fitting all 2020 and newer Gladiator JTs. Now, this will be a great option for the Gladiator owner who is looking to protect their tailgate from any damage when sliding cargo in and out of their bed area, or to cover up any existing imperfections. Now, this will also be great if you're looking to pair this with a bed liner, giving you full bed protection. Not to mention, this is going to be incredibly durable, made of a custom-blend TPE material, making sure that this will take the hit instead of your tailgate. This will also have good wear resistance and good UV resistance, keeping the liner looking good over a long period of time and keeping that black look. Not to mention, it will have the WeatherTech soft-touch material that will keep your cargo from shifting around, which will be good if you have to keep your bed open for any longer cargo, or if you simply just don't want your stuff sliding around while you're resting it on the tailgate area. Now, speaking of that, it will come with the cutouts on either side or keep the cutouts on either side, specifically to put a drink down, which is nice if you're doing any tailgating. Now, this is also going to be very flexible, which I like. It makes it very easy to unbolt, take this down, hose it down, scrub it down, really whatever you have to do to get it clean, and pop it right back into place, making it very easy to clean and scrub down. Now, with that being said, this is going to come in at roughly $95. Now, when comparing this to some other choices that are very similar to it on the page, a lot of other options will usually have the bed liner included in the kit with the tailgate liner. Now, this choice by WeatherTech gives you the option to just install the tailgate liner if you're mainly concerned about your tailgate and not necessarily your bed at that time. Not to mention, some other choices may not be made of the same plastic TPE material that you see here. They may be more of an impact material or even carpet material specifically for covered beds. Now, I personally think if you're looking for the ultimate protection for your tailgate and you're also looking for a good look in the meantime, then this is gonna be a great choice. Now, install will be incredibly easy at a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you no longer than 15 minutes to get this installed. Now, the tools that you'll need for this install will include a T-30 Torx, which is supplied in the Gladiator toolkit, you'll also need an impact wrench or a driver for that. You will also need a trim removal tool, some scissors, and a razor blade, and you're also gonna need a microfiber cloth and some cleaning solutions just to make sure that your tailgate is clean before installing this. Now, speaking of the install, one of our customers here has installed this on his JT, and he's going to walk through you that process step by step. So that wraps it up for my review, let's go ahead and get into the install.Man: A few items you'll need for the installation today, alcohol pads, which are provided in the kit, Primer 94, a drill or a ratchet with a 7-millimeter bit on it so you can use the provided T-30 bit, which is a Torx bit, a pair of scissors, an optional trim tool, which I'll show you what I use it for later, a utility knife, I've bottled alcohol here to use as a wipe off, and a lint-free towel. You'll also want to get something to measure, like this rule here for cut-off purposes. The first thing you wanna do is completely spray down and wipe down your tailgate to remove any contaminants or debris. When you unbox the unit, it's gonna be folded. So the best practice is to put this out into the sun or somewhere warm and weigh the corners down with weights. Mine is already laid down because I live in Florida and it's really hot and it just laid right out for me.The next step is to remove the six T-30 bolts that are on the tailgate that correspond with the open holes on the bed liner, which are here, here, here, here, here, and here. These two, you will not remove.Next, take an alcohol prep pad. On the plastic area, above where the panel goes, wipe it thoroughly with the alcohol pad. Next, take your tube of Primer 94. Crack the center till you hear that, give it a shake, and let it soak into the tip a little bit, and then you're gonna apply this to the same spot that you just prepped. You wanna allow at least five minutes for the Primer 94 to dry. While that's drying, you can take the extrusion that's provided, and you're gonna cut off 3 inches from the extrusion. After cutting, you can discard the small portion because we're only gonna use the larger portion across here. You wanna center the extrusion on the bed, and begin to peel the sticky back off and stick it to the Primer 94 area. Slowly remove the tape and work your way across the top of the tailgate. Give it a final firm press in place, make sure it's tucked down properly. We're in the home stretch now.Take and hand-tighten all the six bolts that you previously removed. Next, we need to tuck the top lip into the previous piece that we glued down onto the top of the tail piece. I find that using the trim tool for this aids in installation. Next, just tighten down all the bolts. And that is it if you have a painted tailgate. If you have a liner, a spray-in liner, in the back of the piece, there are three hook-and-loop pieces. You will have to peel those off and stick those down if you do have a spray-in bed liner. But if you have a painted one, like I have, that's it. The process is complete. And this is what your tailgate bed will look like. Thanks for watching.Merideth: That's gonna wrap it up for my review and the install of the Weathertech TechLiner Tailgate Liner in Black, fitting all 2020 and newer Gladiator JTs.
