Merideth: Hey guys, so today we're checking out the Weathertech stone and bug deflector in dark smoke fitting all 2020 and newer Gladiator JTs. Now, this will be great for the Gladiator owners in search of a styling change and a bit of protection for the front of their truck. Now, the front of the hood is incredibly prone to rock chips, especially on the trail and on the highway, and this will do a good job at protecting the paint, keeping the hood in mint condition. This will also just be a good option for you if you are a fan of that, deflector look and wanna add some small black accents around your truck while also getting some of that protection in the meantime. When it comes to the construction of this, this will be made of an arrow-grade acrylic material that will be scratch resistant as well as durable enough to take the hit of any kickup while you're driving. Now, we'll also have that dark smoke look, as it says in the name, which will match with any other smoked window reflectors or accessories that you already have on your JT.Now, when it comes to price, this will be pretty affordable for a hood deflector at roughly $100. Now in comparing this to some others in the category, this will have a smoke book and a simple acrylic build. Now, some other options will have different finishes, like a map block or a texture block, and some may include riveting or different styling for the deflector for a more aggressive look. Now, I personally think if you're just looking for some hood protection and you're looking to keep it on the simplistic side, but also get something that looks sleek at a very affordable price, then this is the hood deflector to choose. Now, this will also have an incredibly easy install and a one out of three wrenchers on the difficulty meter taking you about 30 minutes to get the job done with some basic hand tools. The tools that you'll need will include the alcohol prep pads that are included in the kit, as well as a Phillips head bit in a drill or an impact wrench for the self-tapping screws. Now, one of our customers here at ExtremeTerrain has installed this on his gladiator and is going to walk you through that process step by step. So that wraps it up for my review. Let's go ahead and get into the install.Man: Okay. What I've done here is basically open the bag of hardware that comes with the deflector. I have four self-tapping screws with nylon washers and some little plastic bumper pads and two alcohol prep pads. I'm gonna take a look at this. If you look at this right here, you'll see there's a notch in the deflector. Let me get this out so you can see it. Can you see that notch right there?Merideth: Yes.Man: All right. So that notch, after you get it put back over needs to be centered on the screw with the latch right here there. Can you see that?Merideth: Yeah.Man: How that lines up there, that little notch with the screw in your latch. Okay. And if you look, go across the distance from here and the distance over here are exactly the same. So again, align the notch up with the screw in the latch on your hood. So what we wanna do now is find out where the tape is gonna be, which is gonna be through here and through here.Okay. I'm gonna take the alcohol pads. And I make sure all the grime and stuff is wiped off of this stuff right here in this area so that my tape will stick without coming loose. I think I have enough on this one pad, clean both sides here. Okay. I think of got that pretty clean. You wanna make sure that and let that dry before you go sticking anything on it.So now I'm gonna take red tape off. Make sure you just get the red protective layer off and that take the sticky part. All right, so we got that off of there. All right. Now, let's try to line up that match in the middle. Okay. We wanna make sure it's tight here and tight here. I'm gonna watch this middle knot, so I don't...I'm gonna pull that up like that. And I'm gonna push this up like that on make sure I stick it best I can so that it hold it in place. Make sure I got that. And this number half-inch right here, right here. I got my half inch here.I think we're good to go. We're centered in the notch with the screw and the latch. [inaudible 00:06:16:600] I look at our alignment, that bench, half bench. Make sure you latch this side. Make sure you latch this side. The job is complete.Merideth: So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and the install of the Weathertech stone and bug deflector in dark smoke fitting all 2020, and newer gladiator JTs.
