Construction. The Smittybilt security stereo floor console is made from 16 gauge heavy duty steel and features a locking security compartment, which is enough to thwart most casual thieves. Powder coated finish is used for toughness and scratch resistance and comes in several colors. A thick armrest pad covered in rugged denim tops the console's lid.

Specs. This hefty console measures 15 inches tall by 9 inches wide by 27 inches long. It is meant to be used with 1976-1995 Jeep CJ5, CJ7 and Wrangler YJ Models. The console is built around a lockable security compartment, protected by hard 16 gauge steel walls and accessed with included keys. A second lockable compartment is located just forward of the main security compartment and fits stereos, CD players, or citizen band (CB) radios. 2 front cup holders keep drinks handy and are full adjustable to accommodate small to large beverage containers. 3 colors are available, including Black Denim, Gray Denim, and Spice Denim.

Application. Installation involves drilling three holes through the Jeep's floorboards to accept three 5/16 inch mounting bolts. After the holes have been marked and drilled, but prior to final attachment, a stereo (if used) should be placed in the stereo compartment. All necessary wires are connected, and a separate antenna extension wire from a third party manufacturer must be attached. The stereo is held in place by a support strap fastened by a lock nut threaded onto a built-in stud.
