Hey guys, it's Sara with extremeterrain.com. And today, we have a review and install of the Raxiom 9-Inch LED Headlights with Daytime Running Lights and Halos with Black Housings and Clear Lenses fitting your 2020 and newer Jeep Gladiator models. These are perfect for the Gladiator owner who wants to upgrade their headlights and is looking for a projector option that features LED halos and black styling. These round 9-inch LED headlights feature LED daytime running light halos, as well as additional LEDs. They are DOT and SAE compliant, meaning they're legal for on-road use and have a waterproof rating of IP67, which is one of the highest waterproof rating for electronics. They're also weather-sealed to keep dust and moisture out of your lens. And they're constructed from clear polycarbonate lenses with black housings and feature those white LED daytime running light halos, as well as additional accent LEDs.So, far as price goes, these headlights come in at approximately $600, which is middle of the road price-wise when compared to other options. And for your money, you are getting the function of a projector-style headlight with the additional styling of the black housings and LED halos. And as far as the install goes, I'm giving this one a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. The headlight themselves do feature direct bolt-up installation. However, some minor wiring is required to power those halos. All in all, it can be done within one hour, so with that said, let's check out that install. For this install, we used an impact gun, but a regular hand ratchet will work just fine. You'll also need a 10-millimeter socket. You may want a small extension, as well as a 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench. And we also used a wire stripping, crimping, and cutting tool. All right. So the first step in our uninstall with the hood popped, we're gonna grab a pop clip removal tool and remove all of these pop clips holding on the top of your grille. Now, if you don't have access to a pop clip tool, you can use a flat-head as well. Just be careful that you don't damage these because we will be reusing them. Repeat that process to remove the rest of your pop clips. Then with all of the pop clips removed, you can now remove your grille. To release all of the clips, go ahead and pull on the top as well as the bottom corner to release them. Repeat that on the other side and remove your grille. Now we can remove the headlight itself. We have a 10-millimeter socket. We're gonna remove these three bolts around the outside. Now for this one, you may want a small extension as well as that 10-millimeter socket. Go ahead and get these removed. Then with all of the bolts removed, you can pull your headlight forward. You'll notice the main connector here, go ahead and press down on it and pull to remove it. Then you can remove your headlight. All right. So we have our new headlight here. Before we can get this bolted up, we do need to hook up a few things on the backside. Now there is a wiring harness, as well as a CAN bus, so we have to clip in line. So the first thing we're gonna do is grab this wiring harness. We're gonna start to route it where it would go. We'll definitely clean this up later on. We want the longer side towards the driver side where we're working. We're just gonna go down and into the opening where the headlight would be. Now the other end of the CAN bus, go ahead and line up and connect to your factory wiring harness. Make sure you hear that click so you know it's in place. I recommend throwing a few zip ties on here just to hold that in place. Now, again, I do recommend cleaning up the wiring and securing it with a zip tie, but you're definitely gonna wanna mount this CAN bus unit. You can go wherever you like. They have an opening for you right there. You can use an existing bolt, a self-tapper, or you can simply zip-tie it in place. I'm going for this bracket that holds your ECU. And just one of the zip ties that I had on hand here through one of the existing holes and zip-tying it in place. Again, this is up to you as long as it reaches and it sits out of the way of anything that is moving, sharp, or hot, you are good to go. And I'm also gonna trim off that tail as well. Make sure you trim any zip ties that you install. Now, go ahead and line up your headlight. There should be two openings here for two plastic tabs on the inside. And then go ahead and line up all of your factory hardware and get it threaded in. Once all the bolts are in place, grab that 10-millimeter socket and tighten them down. Keep in mind we are going through the plastic housing. So just if you're using a power tool, be careful not to overtighten. All right. Now that we have our factory headlight uninstalled from our Gladiator, we can check it out side-by-side with our new headlight here. Now, the biggest difference between these two is the design. This one features black styling with LED halos and additional LED accents to give you a more aftermarket look. In addition, it also features a projector-style lens, which gives you a brighter and more focused beam of light when compared to the reflector of your factory. So with that said, go ahead and repeat all of those steps to install your passenger side headlight. Now that you have your passenger side headlight installed, route your wiring harness. I recommend going underneath the rad support cover on the front, past the intake, all the way to the fuse box area here. Now you'll notice on the wiring harness there's two ends here. There's an eyelet on the negative side that will go to the chassis as your ground, and then the positive wire just has an open end here. What we're gonna do is we're gonna join that to the fuse tap section of wiring. You'll notice a butt connector that's open on one side. What we're gonna do is twist the open end of the wire nice and tight, and then slide that into the open end on the butt connector. Now one side is already crimped. So what we're gonna do is grab a wire crimping tool and we're gonna crimp down the other side. Make sure the wire is fully seated in the butt connector, and then squeeze it to crimp it down. Double-check that you have a nice, tight connection, and then we can get this part installed. Now we can go into the fuse box itself. To open this up, grab on each side, pull these tabs in, and lift up the cover. We're looking for the spot F52, which is right here. It is a yellow 20 amp fuse. We're gonna grab that fuse and pull it out. Install it into this inline fuse. Make sure to push it all the way in right next to the 5 amp that it comes with. And then install it in the same position that you pulled that 20 amp fuse out of.And now that you have that fully attached, we can attach the ground wire. So you wanna route this power wire just down and out of that box. Again, if you wanna throw a few zip ties on there to secure it, that's not a bad idea. Now what we're gonna do down here is remove this 10-millimeter nut that already has a few ground wires on it. I'm using a 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench to remove this. Once you have that nut off, you can grab this eyelet and slide it over top. Then go ahead and reinstall the nut. Now tighten it back up with that 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench, or you can use a socket and a ratchet here as well. Now you can reinstall the cover for your fuse box. Keep in mind this wire will be sticking out, so it might not sit exactly how it does from the factory.Go ahead and reinstall that and make sure your wiring is fully secure all the way back to your headlights. And now that we have both headlights installed and we have it all wired up, we can reinstall the grille. Start by lining up all of the metal tabs along the bottom, press them into place. And now we can reinstall the pop clips in the top of your grille. All right. So that is gonna do it for the review and install of these headlights. And remember for all things Gladiator, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
