Ryan: The Poison Spyder Extreme Duty Trans-Mount Crossmember in bare steel is for those of you that have a 2012 to 2018 JK or a 2018 and up JL Wrangler that are looking for a crossmember that is going to be much stronger than the factory one. If you wheel your Jeep really hard you'll know that that factory crossmember doesn't take too much to bend and that can cause all sorts of different issues, so upgrading to a stronger one, whether it's preventative or as a replacement to your bent factory one is going to be a very good idea. This is going to be a very simple one out of three wrench installation, this will bolt directly in place of that factory crossmember and we'll talk a little bit more about the installation in just a second. So if you are like us, you have a two door or a four door automatic or manual transmission JK, you go off-roading a lot, you hit yourself high-centered, you can bend that factory trans-mount, that can mess with your exhaust system, we ended up with an exhaust leak, it can mess with your linkage, you can do a lot of different things, throwing a lot of different things out of whack. So if you go shopping for a factory replacement, you look directly for Mopar, it's going to cost actually more than this one does and this is going to be a lot stronger than that factory one, so you can actually same yourself some money and get a much beefier option with this from Poison Spyder. As far as construction goes, it's really all about strength here, this is going to be 3/16 inch steel, everything is fully welded, you have your crush sleeves welded in place, everything is drilled and slotted out so that you can get it mounted up very easily into your Jeep. Again, not a lot to say other than strength, strength, strength. Now this like a lot of other stuff from Poison Spyder is going to come bare steel so you can either powder coat it, you can rattle can it, you can do whatever you want as far as a coating on it, but you are going to want to coat it of course, bare steel is going to get some surface rust on it in a very short period of time. So make sure you get a coating on this. If you aren't somebody who goes off-roading a lot, I would probably just recommend hitting it with a rattle can, that way when you do scratch it up, you can just get underneath of it, hit it with a little additional paint to touch it up. If you have powder coat, a little bit more of a big deal to take it off and have it recoated. This crossmember comes in at $230 and as I mentioned before I think that's a deal, this is going to be less expensive than a factory replacement if you went directly to Mopar to get that factory replacement and this is going to be a ton stronger. This has extreme duty right in the name. When you pick it up, when you feel the weight of it, when you compare it to the factory one as you remove it, you can tell this is going to be a lot stronger, this is going to hold up a lot better and all of that makes it worth the cost in my opinion. Now I'll have somebody from the install team show you how you get this bolted up to your JK.Man: So the first step for this installation, you're going to remove your factory skid plate. Now this Jeep took a little beating on the trail so we kind of lost our skid plate and cut the rest of it off. However that's going to be four 18 millimeter bolts to remove that, so now that we have that off we're going to support our transmission with a pole jack. So now that we have our driveline supported with the pole jack, next we're going to use a 16 millimeter socket to remove the three nuts from the transmission mount. Net step, we're going to use an 18 millimeter socket to remove these two bolts where the gas tank skid plate bolts to the crossmember. So next step, we're going to remove the two bolts on both sides using an 18 millimeter wrench and socket. And we're going to do the same thing for the other side. So now that all four nuts are removed, we're ready to remove our bolts and wiggle this crossmember out. So you're going to pull the driver side down and out. Once you get it off of these studs, then we can wiggle it out from under the gas tank skid plate. So now that we have the old one out, we're ready to install the new one. So we're going to lift this up and we're going to start with the passenger side, slide that into our frame mount. And once you have it in position and you have your holes lined up, you're ready to reinstall your factory hardware. So we're going to slide our bolts through on this side. We're going to get our nuts back on and then we'll get our bolts through the other side, and then we'll get everything tightened up. We're going to do the same thing for the other side, place our factory bolts through and then install our nuts on the back side. So now that we have all four of our bolts in, we're ready to go and tighten those up. Once again we're going to use an 18 millimeter wrench and an 18 millimeter socket. Same thing for the other side. So after you get the crossmember tight, the next step, we're going to reinstall our two bolts for the gas tank skid plate. So now we're ready to lower our driveline down so that the mount touches and then we're going to reinstall the three factory nuts.So now we're ready to remove our pole jack. At this point in time, if you do have a factory skid plate, you're ready to reinstall that. However, that wraps up our review and install. Check out more at extremeterrain.com.

Superior Off-Road Crossmember. Frequent off-road adventures greatly expose your Jeep to damage. That’s why its crucial parts need to be protected with heavy-duty components so you can have more worry-free off-road adventures. That’s what the Poison Spyder Extreme Duty Bare Steel Trans-Mount Crossmember promises to provide. With its solid 3/16" CNC laser cut plate steel construction, it’s designed as a precise fit replacement for your vehicle’s stock crossmember which can better withstand the punishing situations of trail adventures.
Prevents Bending on the Trail. When you’re on the trail, your vehicle could get high-centered on rocks and other large objects. This could cause your stock crossmember to bend upward from the center. Not the Poison Spyder Extreme Duty Tans-Mount Crossmember. With its double walls sides, it’s solid enough to withstand bending from the 5,000 lbs. of weight that bears down on it when high-centered on trail obstacles.
Heavy-Duty Construction. This trans-mount crossmember has a .188-inch thick top plate and bottom plate which make it extremely resistant to bending and dents. It also has a 3/16' steel plate with corners that have been brake-formed to ensure maximum durability. On top of that, it has welded .120 -inch 4 DOM tubing spacers which make it withstand enormous amounts of pressure at the mounting bolt points.
Backed by Warranty. Poison Spyder backs this heavy-duty transmission crossmember with a 1-year warranty as free from any defects in material and against low-quality manufacturing.
