      Description

Adaptable Light Truck Tires. Serving faithfully as your 1987-2024 Wrangler's daily workhorse on the streets and highways near your home, the Nitto Terra Grappler LT285/65R18 G2 Tire also stands ready to start a thrilling off-road adventure at a moments notice. This is a light truck variant of the Terra Grappler G2, with a 50,000 mile limited treadwear warranty and 3,640 lbs maximum load at 80 PSI. The tire can be used for towing and hauling or simply as a tough all-terrain and daily driver tire. It handles slippery roads with its full depth sipes and treacherous spots on the trail with serrated shoulder lugs that can roll forward reliably through sand, silt and loose, soft dirt. G2s can cope with some rocks and short stretches of mud, but are not dedicated rock crawlers or mudding tires.

Durability and Features. The Nitto Terra Grappler features dual sidewall designs, letting you select either thunderbolts or blade lugs facing outward. The G2's feature a Grade B UTQG Temperature rating, enabling speeds of up to 100-115 mph without damaging the tire, while its 600 Treadwear rating means it resists wear 6 times more than the standard tire used in testing.

Application. This Nitto Terra Grappler G2 LT285/65-18 Tire is designed to fit all 1987-2024 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ and JK models equipped with 18 inch wheels.

What is the best gear ratio to run for larger tires? When you increase the diameter of your tires, your vehicle's engine has to work harder to turn them. Naturally, this will lead to increased fuel consumption and reduced performance. So, when upgrading to a set of larger tires you should re-gear your rig to regain this lost acceleration, performance and fuel economy.

Find your original tire size and gear ratio using the chart listed below, the intersection should be your approximate RPMs at 65 MPH. Then find your new tire size and follow it across to the closest RPM to your original tires, this will be your gear ratio choice.

This chart is based on driving at 65 MPH with a 1:1 gear ratio and a manual transmission in 4th gear. Please note if your vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission your RPMs will be higher due to normal transmission and the torque converter slippage. In overdrive your RPMs will be approximately 15% to 30% less than indicated.
