Camouflaged Sahara - Denny’s 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara JK

ExtremeTerrain customer Denny Dobson’s 2011 Sahara JK blends in beautifully with nature and certainly adds to its off-road characteristics. The black forest green pearl exterior paint color is just dark enough to appear stealthy in the night, while remaining pearlescent throughout the day. To add to its natural appeal, Denny added some new wheels and tires, along with a lift kit and upgraded exhaust system. He also changed up the front and rear end and dressed it up with new LED lights.

Reaching New Heights

To enhance off-road performance, Denny chose to have a Rough Country 3.25-inch Lift Kit installed. It comes complete with replacement coil springs, spacers, brake line brackets, sway bar links, rear track bar brackets, and 2.2 shocks. This is an inexpensive way for him to achieve greater ground clearance, while also leveling out the front and rear of his Jeep for better balance all around. This bolt-on kit also accommodates up to 35-inch tires, which Denny tested by mounting a set of Mickey Thompson MTZ tires on his Sahara.

Rear Accessories

For some added styling and protection, Denny installed a Smittybilt SRC Rear Bumper on his 2011 Sahara JK. This rear bumper includes a tire carrier that can support up to a 35-inch spare, which is exactly what he needs. This tire carrier bumper combo features a three-point mounting system and 1/4-inch plate steel allowing it to hold the weight of aftermarket tires. The rear bumper features a dual-textured finish with the use of a dense zinc-treated undercoating, guaranteed to remain rust-free for years. Aside from looking the part, this bumper also houses a 9,000-pound 2-inch receiver hitch, so Denny can haul all the equipment he needs for any adventure or getaway.

Bulking Up

Denny chose to go with a set of Rugged Ridge Hurricane Flat Fender Flares for several reasons. Not only do these flares provide that unmistakable rugged and off-road look, but they offer quality protection to his Jeep’s body. They are inspired by the tough military styling of the 1941 Willys MA models, featuring a double bolt pocket design. The benefits of flat flares include increased wheel clearance and a unique style, perfect for both on and off-road adventures. Rugged Ridge’s flat flares are carefully crafted from tough thermoplastic, using an injection molding process that ensures consistency and durability. Each flare kit includes corrosion resistant hardware to prevent unwanted damage and deterioration.

Light Spread

It’s crucial you have the proper lighting to suit your off-road needs and ensure safety. For this reason, Denny decided to install a pair of KC HiLiTES 6-inch lights on his Jeep’s front end. These SlimLite halogens deliver up to 2,796 lx@10m of light output with a spread beam distance of 1,058 meters. Tempered glass lenses combined with precision optical reflectors and bright 100-watt H3 bulbs provide improved range and clarity for off-roading. Denny opted for the spread beam, which gives off a wider and more balanced beam of light for increased peripheral visibility and improved forward-facing light. The black powder coated steel housings are adjustable in both a vertical and horizontal way to better suit and tailor his off-road needs.
