Does what it is supposed to.
You have to have this top warm (direct sunlight or an 80 degree garage) to get it flexible enough to install. The fabric is decent heavy quality and the fitment is good. Works best as a sun blocker, cuz everyone knows that when it rains hard, you ARE gonna get a lapful of water at every stop and every turn.Helpful (1)

Pain to get on.
This was a huge wrestling match and ended in sore fingers to try and get the corners of this top to bend into the header. I’m not exactly thrilled with how the corners and front sides look. We did manage to get it one after days of it sitting in the sun to mold into the right shape. It is pretty tight and not too noisy. Good quality material. I question how long the straps will hold up.Helpful (1)

Very nice top for the price
Do not try to put this on right out of the box. Make sure you let it sit in the sun for about 30-45 minutes to soften up the plastic strip that slides into the windshield channel. Otherwise, this top installs in less than 10 minutes. The instructions are about useless, so just watch the install instructions on YouTube. I find watching the videos a little easier to follow anyways. The quality seems pretty decent, but time will tell as it sees more time in the sun and such.Helpful (1)

Best Bikini Top for Coverage
Very happy with the coverage of this top compared to my small one. Wish I would have bought this one first. It keeps the direct sun off of the kids in the back seat, but still let’s the breeze in. It’s a pain to install just like any bikini top, would recommend 2 people.Helpful (0)

Very easy to install. We mostly cruise around with the top down so this is great to keep in back in case of rain. Doesn't replace a full soft or hard top but definitely worth the $60.Helpful (0)

Could Be Better!
Top looks great but as most customers have mentioned the corners are not easy to keep from popping up. I don’t understand why the Velcro straps are so short. It seems that it would help if they were just an inch longer. Still hoping it will work itself out. The bikini top fit perfectly after about a month and of course with warmer weather.Helpful (0)

More difficult to install than you might think
I like it now. But installing this thing was hugely frustrating. It is very difficult to get the plastic thing into the windshield channel, especially on the ends where the channel curves downward. Ended up heating the plastic with wife's blow dryer which made it flexible enough to jam in there. Some of the stitching looks as if it might pull out someday.Helpful (8)

I had my first bestop for almost 18 years! So when I went to replace it finally I had to have the same one. I changed the color from spice to black diamond but otherwise everything is the same. Great customer service on the phone! Installed the top just as it should be. Looks amazing. However when driving down the road above 40 mph it wants to release the sides and flap loudly and excessively. I contacted bestop and they said it needed heat. Not sure what they mean by that. This was not an issue with my previous top. It snapped in and life was great. So we shall see. I am concerned with the “flapping” tearing the fabric. Otherwise I am 100 satisfied and it looks amazing.Helpful (7)

Get something different
I had to secure it down with paracord and zipties. Passenger side kept flying up, even with additional securing. Get something different.Helpful (6)
I have the stock OEM soft top. Will this top fit my existing windshield channel? Thanks
No, you need to get this one: https://www.extremeterrain.com/bestop-windshield-channel-tj-5121001.html
I have a 98 TJ with a Bestop Trektop NX Soft Top installed. Will the Bestop Windshield Channel Drill in Style for Bikini Top interfere with the operation of the NX soft top or can I leave the channel installed and put my Soft top on?
I have a Smittybuilt header bar (Item J16173) will this Bestop Safari work with that header bar?
No, this top is only designed to be used with the Bestop windshield channel. You can find that item here: https://www.extremeterrain.com/bestop-windshield-channel-tj-5121001.html
I have a 99 TJ hard top. Do I have to drill a windshield bracket on to fasten this to? If I do, do I have to remove it at end of the season to be able to put hard top back on? The no drill one. How does it fasten? Is there flapping noise?
You do not have to drill a windshield bracket for the bikini top if you use the Bestop No-Drill Windshield Channel (J16163). It will fasten with J-Hook brackets mounted to the windshield retainer. The Windshield Channel will have to be removed to reinstall the hard top. Here is the link to the Windshield Channel: https://www.extremeterrain.com/bestop-windshield-channel-tj-5123801.html.
Does this Bestop Safari-style strapless bikini top tuck into the door surround channel with plastic tabs like the OEM top?
This top is able to be tucked into the door channels if you have them, or hug tight to the roll bars.
The Bestop Safari Bikini Top will allow OEM full doors to be installed and closed/latched.
The Bestop Safari Bikini Top only comes in a Black Denim for the 97-02 year TJs.
Hello, for the Bestop Safari Bikini Top, Black Denim (97-02 Wrangler TJ) you are correct, the only difference between the other one is only the style of Windshield Channel they will accept. Both Windshield Channels will secure the top the same way, the NO Drill one is just a bit more convenient when you have to add or remove it.
Unfortunately the Bestop Safari Bikini Top, Black Diamond (03-06 Wrangler TJ) does not fit a 2004 wrangler unlimited. The only bikini style top we currently carry for the TJ unlimited or LJs is the Smittybilt Extended Top, Black Diamond (04-06 Wrangler TJ Unlimited) item number J20645 which requires a windshield channel as well item J16173.
