Merideth: If you want a super simple and stealthy tail light for your 2020 or newer Gladiator, these Axial LED Tail Lights with the black housing and very smoked lenses will be a great pick. Now, I would like to mention that right up front that these will only be compatible with Gladiators that have factory halogen tail lights. Nonetheless, these will offer a substantial upgrade in lighting with the bright LEDs and will be great for any JT owner who is looking for more of a stealthy look when it comes to their lighting. Now this will also have a pretty similar build to the factory LEDs, offering a more modernized look but, of course, taking it up a couple notches. These will also have durable ABS black plastic housings and an industrial grade smoked polycarbonate lens on the front that won't only help the style of the back end but they're also going to be durable as well, able to take any kick up or branches that they may come in contact with. These also will integrate a red LED light bar that borders the tail light as your running light, making sure that you're a lot more noticeable when you're driving around at night. Now speaking of the lighting, these will be fully LED with a cluster of individual red LEDs at the top as well as at the bottom, really making your presence known and a bright white LED in the center to increase your visibility over the factory incandescent bulb when backing up at night. Not to mention, these will be DOT and SAE approved and completely plug-and-play so you can have some confidence when adding these to your build. Now when it comes to price, these will be generally affordable at roughly $250. Now choosing lighting a lot of the time does come down to your style preference so when comparing these to other choices, if you're a fan of a smoked appearance, these will be one of the darkest or most blacked out options in the category. This will also keep it pretty simple in the design, which I think really shines through considering that these will have more of a traditional tail light setup as where some other choices may have different designs to the lights and even to the housings themselves. Now I think if you're looking to keep it simple and very sleek when upgrading the lighting performance for your JT, then these will be the set to check out. Now talking about install, it's gonna be super simple at a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you no longer than an hour to get the job done with some basic hand tools but I wouldn't be surprised if you got it done a little bit sooner. At this point though, that wraps it up for me. One of our guys in the shop is gonna show you a detailed breakdown of the install so let's get into it right now.Male: The tools you're gonna need for this installation include a ratchet, 5.5-millimeter socket and a Phillips head screwdriver. Optionally, you can grab a flathead screwdriver. How's it going everybody? Today we have a set of LED tail lights we're gonna install in our Gladiator and we're gonna start with the uninstall process by opening the tailgate and I'll show you how to do everything step by step. So let's go.All right. So we're gonna start by removing these two screws right here and to get these out, we're gonna use our eight-millimeter socket. With those two screws out, you can simply pull the tail light out and then locate the connector which is up here. There's a safety tab, should be able to get it by hand but if not, you can use a flathead screwdriver. Once that's out of the way, push on the tab here. Simple push and tap and pull and your tail light is removed. For the other side, we're just gonna repeat the same steps. Before we install the tail light into the Gladiator, we're gonna need to do a little bit of prep work. So we have this resistor that's connected to our tail light and the kit comes with a bracket for it. So what we have to do is we have to mount the resistor onto the bracket so that we can secure it in place behind the tail light. In order to mount this up, we're gonna need a 5.5-millimeter socket and a Phillips head screwdriver.Once you have the screws in and the locking nuts tightened down, the next thing we have to do is just put these clips over top and then these are gonna slide onto the frame behind the tail light. All right. So once you got one clip on the bracket, just locate the edge and line the edge of the bracket up with the frame and slide it into place and grab the other clip. Slide that over as well.Once they're both on, plug the connector in. Should hear a little click when it's secure and then just line up the studs on the tail light with the holes in the frame. Now grab the factory hardware that we removed earlier. Thread those screws in by hand just a few threads, then take your eight-millimeter socket and tighten those all the way down. So that's the install process for this side. For the other side, just do the same exact steps. That's gonna wrap up this review and install of the Axial LED Tail Lights with the black housing and smoked lenses for the '20 and newer Gladiator JT with factory halogen tail lights. Thank you for watching. And for all things Gladiator, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
