By installing the camshaft, your 1984–1986 2.8 L Jeep Cherokee XJ gains improved throttle response and stronger top‑end performance while maintaining a lopey idle that still suits daily driving.

      Construction and Appearance. Manufactured from robust cast‑iron blanks, the camshaft features Comp’s High Energy grind profile with precise 212° duration @ .050-Inch lift for both intake and exhaust lobes, complemented by a sporty 110° lobe separation angle. The assembly includes matching hydraulic lifters, timing chain and gears, and comes finished with pre‑installation lubricant and decals, giving it a ready‑to‑install, professional appearance.

      Installation. Installation is moderately challenging and requires removal of the intake manifold, valve covers, timing components, and camshaft. Drilling is not required; however, the cam replacement follows standard procedures outlined in Comp Cams’ installation instructions and a vehicle‑specific service manual.
