Description
High-Performance Suspension Lift. The BDS 8.5-Inch Long Arm Suspension Lift Kit significantly enhances the off-road capability and stance of 1984 to 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4WD models. This lift raises the vehicle to improve ground clearance, providing room for larger tires up to 35 inches (with trimming potentially required) and greater articulation, critical for navigating tough terrain and challenging conditions.
Construction and Appearance. Built from heavy-duty steel, the kit features formed long arms with oversized greaseable polyurethane bushings to enhance durability and vibration isolation. It includes a robust belly pan designed to resist rock damage, and Jeep-specific Pro-Ride coil springs made from high tensile steel with a powder coat finish for corrosion resistance and long-lasting performance.
Installation. Installation is challenging and requires welding, drilling, and specialized tools such as a cut-off wheel and pitman arm puller. While the system is primarily bolt-on, some welding to the unibody is necessary. The estimated installation time is approximately 10 hours.
Application. Designed for 1984 to 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4WD models equipped with either the 8.25-inch Chrysler or Dana 35 rear axle, this kit requires measuring rear u-bolts to ensure proper fitment. It is compatible only with vehicles powered by the 4.0L engine paired with an automatic transmission. Some configurations may require longer emergency brake cables and a CV-style rear driveshaft with a slip yoke eliminator kit (not included).
