  • Yes, this is true. You will need to purchase a SV200 Sirus adapter to gain function of satellite radio with this system.

    Exellent Product

Purchased this as a replacement for a Pioneer 950BH unit that was stolen from my 2013 Jeep. Installation: Was a breeze. No thanks to the instructions that come with the unit. The instructions are pretty bad and it would be impossible to follow them and have a successful, easy install. There are a few videos on YouTube that show prepping the unit's wiring and one that shows the install into a Jeep. I watched each one 4-5 times and had no issues at all during the installation afterwards. Note that I an a total novice when it comes to installing these sorts of things. Phone: It connected effortlessly to my Samsung Note 3 and my wife's IPhone 5. The unit comes with an external mic, but also has a mic that is built into the unit. I did not install the external as the built in mic seems to work fine. Sound quality on the built in mic was clear, but sounded slightly distant. Still good enough to try for a while before installing the external. GPS: Gained satellite signal immediately and after driving around all day, going to a couple parking garages, I didn't lose signal once. I did notice the maps seems outdated or incomplete as far as finding businesses by search. Radio: Sound quality is much better than the factory unit and seems cleaner than the pioneer unit I had. Very easy interface to use and customize. Backup Camera: Does exactly what a backup camera should. Clean picture, and the unit triggers on reverse instantly. DVD Playback: Nice picture and sound. Parking brake must be applied. Cant just have an automatic vehicle in park. Fitment: Wonderful. This unit looks like it came off the lot factory installed. It looks great and fits perfectly in the dash. I am not a fan of the motorized screen. It tilts down and out of the way of the SD card slot and the CD/DVD player. I am always worried that the mechanism will stop functioning and then I am unable to access those functions physically, or it gets stuck in the down position. The positive with this is that it allows for a larger screen as the DVD player and SD card slot is hidden behind it. Overall I think this is a pretty solid unit and am happy with my purchase!

A great replacement for your stock radio.

Hello, I bought this unit and had it installed in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited today. It's a great unit and it does allow you to use your steering wheel controls with just the plug and play of the radio. It looks great in the dash and I find the sound output to be so much better than the stock radio. However, there are some issues which is why I gave it 4/5 stars. First, the unit doesn't plug and play your Sirius XM from the previous radio. I still have my free complimentary year of free subscription active, but I have to wait for a module to become available which will allow me to use the satellite feature. Secondly, I have a second usb port in my front armrest/console which no longer connects to the radio. I would plug my ipod to this port and throw it in the armrest out of sight, but now I have to use the usb on the front face of the unit. Not the worst thing because now I can plug my android phone in the armrest usb and charge it without the radio attempting to connect to it. Third, you lose the function of the uconnect buttons on the steering wheel which is to be expected, but the buttons still somehow control the radio, but I've yet to figure exactly what they control, but they do still have a function. Other than these issues, the unit is really great and the camera is a real benefit. The camera even uses distance lines which is better than just the image of what's behind you. The only true negative for me was the Sirius XM issue. Thanks

    For "standard sound systems"

I am glad that the information has changed to show that this radio is for the standard sound systems and not the Alpine system. We bought this and found out after several tries to get the sound to work that it wouldn't work on our Alpine system. Had to return it. We loved the product easy to install (if you get more information than what comes with the system). Great factory look. Just hope Raxiom puts together one that can work with Alpine system.

Looks like it belongs, better than original and simple to install

I was a bit nervous at first ordering this at it was a larger DIY project than I normally take on and it was on my brand new (still under warranty) Jeep Wrangler. However, after watching a few online videos I felt I was up to the challenge. It was literally PLUG-N-PLAY simple. The only more "advanced" wiring work is connecting the camera to the lighter for power; I bought a simple $10 wireless soldering tool and it was actually quite simple for my novice skills. The Stereo fit great, had all of the right connections in the standard harness and it was easier than expected to run the camera/antenna cables. I purchased the optional SiriusXM tuner online as well. I had the Jeep Connectivity Package with SiriusXM and Bluetooth and I can confirm that the Premium Harness is NOT required. Also, there are two Bluetooth mic's (internal and external). I ran the external mic to the original Jeep overhead location but later found that the internal mic on the front of the stereo works the best and actually has the best placement. Also, the reverse camera was crystal clear (don't forget to enable it for automatic on in reverse in the stereo settings). The steering wheel buttons all work as well. On Windows Phone 8.1, the UConnect Button actually calls Cortona (think Siri for Windows Phone) if you press and hold it which is way better than the simple UConnect voice control!!! One warning, Bluetooth is limited for Windows Phone 8.1 which is why I'm giving it only 4 stars. It works fine for phone calls but A2DP (music over Bluetooth) does not work at all. After a bit of troubleshooting and research, it appears this only affects Windows Phones so I'm hopeful the problem goes away when I upgrade to a new Windows Phone 10 device in a few months. For now, I'll just us the Audio In port which works just fine. I did use the Wrangler Expert chat for a few questions and found them very helpful. In total, a great device for a great price with simple plug-n-play installation.

Great Upgrade that is Really Worth It!

I have a 2015 JKUR with the stock system and on my last jeep I had the 430 unit with nav. I have to say that even though this system costs less than the factory 430N, it has the same OEM fit and finish, but is way better in terms of functionality and quality. The backup camera is great and clear. The navigation works and it is true what they say about this head unit. It really wakes up the factory speakers! I have installed car stereos in many of the cars I had in the past, but this was bar far the easiest. Great product, and great pricing, and great customer service!!!!

    upgrade head unit

I was looking for an upgrade head unit and came across this. I a little disappointed that it isn't compatible with windows phone. The navigation part looks really nice. The backup camera was a little tricky only because I have an oversized tire carrier.

Great product...but be ready to figure it out yourself

Decided to get this professionally installed since I decided to use a third party back up camera that would work with my XRC bumper set up. (black box mounted under my tire) Overall, very happy, minus the time it takes to learn everything. I have found it to do pretty much everything you would expect and it powered my Alpine speakers well. Also love the Jeep icon on the Nav, nice touch... Tip: Really get to know the settings, most everything is doable, but the factory settings, tend to be all over the place. i.e. speed warning, phone bluetooth sounds setting way to low...etc Overall would recommend and the read the other reviews, they were helpful and spot on for me during my research.

Good unit but room for improvement

First the good, I this radio looks great in my 2012 Wrangler Rubicon, it looks totally stock and the sound is a great improvement over my factory radio. I also think that you get a lot for your money with this unit considering that it includes a backup camera with the unit. The backup camera is great, the resolution and low light ability is very good. It would have been nice to have some information on how to wire it into the reverse lights though. The GPS is serviceable and gets me where I need to go although the route it picks is not always the shortest. 3 small issues, the clock readout is TOO SMALL, I have a hard time reading it without resorting to my reading glasses. Also, I have not yet been able to get the steering wheel controls to work with the radio so I will be working on this in the near future. Also, in order to get back from the camera display you need to go back to the radio to navigate to other options which is kind of a pain. The install was pretty straight forward, but no thanks to any directions received with the unit. If it wasn't for YouTube I would have had to take the unit to an installer. Also, there were no instructions whatsoever on how to install the camera. I bought the backup camera bracket which made the install much easier Overall for the price that I paid, I am happy with the unit and the features that I got. It is pretty cool to be able to watch The Outlaw Josey Wales while I am waiting to pick up my son from Wrestling practice!

Lots of advantages over the factory radio

I had some problems with the first unit that shipped. Extreme Terrain shipped a replacement that works properly. I see complaints by other reviewers about several issues. The back up camera not working when you shift into reverse. This is a settings issue. It does turn on the camera if you tell it to. Also the thing tells you when you are speeding (always!) this can be adjusted or turned off in the navigation settings menu. And lastly the Ipod issue. One of the reasons I wanted this unit is the USB port eliminating the need for an Ipod and the wires that go with it. Just get a flash drive and load your mp3s on it. No more charging wires. My Ipod is in my desk drawer. I installed this in a 2011 Wrangler Sport. The factory radio in the Jeep had no extras. No Bluetooth, no Sirius, no nothing. Its nice to have all off the extras.

    Very disappointed in Raxiom

The Good-Nav works well, radio and CD work as advertised. Now I have in-dash Nav and kind of a back-up camera. The Bad-Back-up camera is not automatic when placed in reverse, the camera is activated (powered up) when jeep is placed in reverse, but does not automatically show up on screen, I have to select "camera" from menu to get the rear view to show on screen. Phone hook up is intermittent at the moment, still working on it. The directions for installation are horrible. Steering wheel controls do not work, but I guess they might if I purchase additional harness and splice. I'm very disappointed for the price of this unit.

    • Response from ExtremeTerrain

I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed in this unit. The camera function can be changed through the nav's settings menu to come on automatically. As for complications with the phone connectivity, feel free to contact our customer service line and they should be able to assist in trouble shooting.
