Vision X Backup Light Receiver Bracket (87-18 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ, JK & JL)
I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the Vision X Backup Light Receiver with two LED lights, fitting all 1987 to 2016 Wranglers that have a two-inch receiver. A lot of aftermarket and even some factory hard and soft tops come with tinted windows. And when you have a large spare tire in the back window, it can make it difficult to see when backing up, especially at night. So, having some additional light back there is a good thing. This kit comes with a bracket that requires no drilling and two really bright lights. This is definitely a premium product that comes at a premium price tag, but it's really well built. I would not however recommend this setup for somebody who does a lot of hardcore off-roading with their Jeep, because chances are, the lights would not survive trail obstacles and rocks because of how low they hang down. This kit comes with a bracket that'll clamp on to any two-inch receiver and allow you to mount two light pods that are included in the kit, without the need to drill anything. The bracket itself is really high quality and it's built of 6061 aluminum. The light pods have a diffused light pattern and they're incredibly bright, producing over 1,000 raw lumens per pod, which means you're going to get a lot of scattered light out of the back of the Jeep, making it a lot easier to see at night when you're backing up. Now, even though the bracket requires no drilling to get the lights installed, you will have to do a little bit of wiring with this kit. The kit does include a harness that will connect both of the lights together, and a two wire pigtail that'll allow you to power it from a variety of different sources. Now, there are a lot of different ways to wire this setup. The pods together only draw about one amp, so there's a chance you could wire these into your factory reverse light circuit without a problem, especially if you swap out those factory incandescent reverse lights for LED ones that have an even lower draw. Another option for getting this wired up is to power them off of a relay that can be triggered off of your factory reverse lights circuit or off of a switch on the dashboard so that you have a couple of different options to turn these on. The wiring is really up to you, but getting the kit itself installed is a breeze. So, to get the bracket installed, all you'll need is an allen key to remove the two socket head cap screws, put the bracket on the top and the bottom of your two-inch receiver, and re-tighten those screws. From there, you can make the adjustment on your light pods to get light thrown exactly where you want it to, and then start with your wiring. The whole process of installing the bracket itself shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes. However, depending on how you decide to get this thing wired up, it could take an hour or two to get your wiring finished nice and clean. I have to say, I was really impressed with the quality of this kit when I took it out of the box. From the quality of the bracket, the milling and the finish to the hardware and the lights themselves, everything is really thought out well, and really well built, including all of the pigtails with the weather tight connectors. However, the price of this kit is a little bit high for me. The kit allows you to mount two light pods without the need to drill anything, however if you were to just buy a couple of light pods and use another bracket, or drill a couple of holes in your factory bumper, you could get away a lot cheaper than this setup, and still have a ton of light. So, if you're looking for a really high quality and bright reverse lights setup that doesn't require you to drill anything, and you have the budget for it, I would recommend taking a look at this reverse lights set up. So, that's my review of the Vision X Backup Light Receiver with two LED pods, fitting all 1987 to 2016 Wranglers that you can find right here, at ExtremeTerrain.com.

I have a Hidden Hitch that measures 2 1/2 inch X 2 1/2 inch. Will this fit? What are the dimensions of the opening?
The Vision X Backup Light Receiver Bracket will work on 2" hitches, that's the inner diameter of the hitch receiver but the outer diameter of 2 inch receivers are usually 2.5" x 2.5" but that may vary by manufacturer. So, this item may fit depending on which dimensions you had provided. If your inner diameter of your hitch receiver is 2.5" x 2.5" this most likely will not fit properly.
How easy is this to wire up if your current hitch mount currently has no wiring?
The Vision X Backup Light Receiver Bracket is only the bracket to hold the light pods but if you do not have any wiring currently for the light pods, I would suggest purchasing a wiring harness with a switch that you would be able to control the lights. If you have a moderate amount of technical expertise, it shouldn't be too difficult of an install.

Not a great fit
It's a high quality bracket but the fit is not the greatest. I bought it for my Wrangler YJ and noted it didn't quite fit. Tried it on my wife's X-Terra and couldn't get it in there. I made some modifications to make it fit, but it doesn't look quite right. Not falling off though.

I was looking for a modification to increase light visibility this was the perfect fit . The fit is perfect around the tailgate hitch and mounting the light or a piece of cake. I have not taking it wheeling yet but it looks like I should be safe from damage
