2.5 Rubicon Express
Most complete kit out there would buy this again! The ride is great quality parts leaf springs are 5 leaf and very beefy. I looked at other places to buy this but came back to Extreme Terrain because the customer care is second to none and they know what there are talking aboutHelpful (4)

I have had the lift now for 2 months. It was a bit bouncy in the beginning but has since settled in. I only use my YJ for off road play and this lift has been awesome. I did a 1 1/4" shackle lift at the same time and ended up getting almost 6 inches over the old worn out original suspension. Will absolutely buy Rubicon Express lifts in the future. Just bought a TJ that i will start building her soon.Helpful (4)

First lift kit I ever installed and it was pretty easy and straight forward. Ride quality tamed the beast. Went from saggy worn out suspension that still had the factory shocks in the front to an actual comfortable ride instead of what my wife compared to a radio flyer. No instructions were included in the kit, but I was able to find them easily online. The springs haven't fully settled out yet, BUT I ended up with 5.5" of lift as previous owner had extended shackles on them. Because of this I used a TeraFlex mega short sye and a new driveshaft instead of the t-case drop included with kit. Overall it took me approx 10 hours to install as I was mostly laying on the ground using all hand tools. only had to cut 1 bolt to remove the drivers side shock.Helpful (5)

Good suspension kit
This kit comes with most everything you need. Would be nice if it came with front extended brake hoses instead of hard line extensions. Had to cut frame bolts, shackle bolts came out. Nice qualityHelpful (5)

It’s not complete, no matter what they tell you. You’ll need to reuse your shackle and frame bolts, u-bolt plates, and shock absorber bolts. (On the other hand, snock absorber boots are included.) Likewise, frame-to-shackle bushings aren’t included nor are rear shock absorber relocation brackets. (Yes, you will need these.) Also to be considered - at least in my case - the sway bar disconnects sent with the kit are not correct for a YJ. I needed a completely different set. Other than that, it was pretty much a straight swap.Helpful (5)

This lift is a good solid quality product. I ended up with just over 3.5" of lift over my stock springs once everything settled out. The lift will fit 32" tires without rubbing but 33" rub. If running a SYE the supplied 2.5 degree shims do not rotate the rear pinion up enough to eliminate vibration. You will need to install 6 degree shims to get the pinion angle correct. Also you will need the rear shock relocation brackets (RE2005) so the shocks will clear the axle tube (do not run the shocks upside down to clear the axle, they are not designed to be ran inverted). This is the only thing that I think the kit is missing. This lift was really a straight forward installation. The difficulty of installation depends on whether or not your suspension bolts are rusted in place or not. My suspension is relatively rust free and I was able to complete the installation in 2.5 hours. I would also highly recommend not reinstalling the front track bar. The suspension will cycle much more efficiently without it along with providing a better ride.Helpful (6)

Bouncy Bounce Bounce
Had the suspension professionally installed and it is a real clean and beautiful setup except for the extreme bounce. I don't know which is worse. The original flat springs that rode like a tank or the new springs that bounce like nothing I have ever seen before. Perhaps it is the shocks?Helpful (9)

The lift created the angle of the rear shocks to be at a 45 degrees, which gave no room for the shocks to compress. Since this lift was specific to my year jeep the part of the Shock relocator should be required and included. I had to spend an additional $200 to have them purchased and installed .Helpful (6)

It's ok if you get all the part to fit like the sway bar disconnects wrong for 1992.Helpful (9)
I have read they you need the rear shock relocation brackets for this. If you don't use them the rear shocks will rub
The Rubicon Express 2.5 in. Standard Suspension System w/ Twin Tube Shocks will not cause any rubbing if you have aftermarket wheels. However, with the stock wheels, you may see some rubbing yes.
Do I have to weld the new sway bar disconnects or can I install the same as factory?
The Sway bar Disconnects do not need to be welded.
Does the Rubicon 2.5 std suspension system w/twin tube shocks kit utilize Teflon pads between the spring leaves?
This kit will not utilize Teflon pads between the leaves.
do you carry shock boots for the Rubicon express 2.5" shocks in this kit ???
We do offer shock boots which can be found here under "Jeep Wrangler Shock Brackets & Accessories" in our "Suspension" section.
do the Rubicon shocks come with boots like the stand alone shock kit ?
Rubicon shocks would not come with boots no.
This will be Rubicon Express's twin-tube shocks and will fair well off-road.
This kit does not come with new shackle bushings.
The Rubicon Express 2.5 In. Standard Suspension System w/ Twin Tube Shocks will use and come with all new hardware.
The Rubicon Express 2.5 in. Standard Suspension System will not require any additional components for installation.
Thank you for your question! This is a complete kit and you should not need any additional components. However, you can upgrade in the future with front and rear track bars instead of using the provided brackets.
We recommend either a CV driveshaft, or a transfer case drop with the Rubicon Express 2.5 in. Standard Suspension System.
