I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the RedRock four by four Curved Oval Side Steps fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. There's a version of these available for the two-door and the four-door, so make sure you get the right ones for your Jeep.Today, we're gonna talk about the construction and the installation of these side steps. These are for those of you who wanna make it a little bit easier to get in and out of your stock or lifted JK but don't have the need for more expensive and much stronger armor. These are going to decrease your ground clearance a little bit, so if you're somebody who does some hardcore off-roading, these are probably not going to be the best choice, and I would recommend taking a look at some Red Rock four by four Barricade, Rugged Ridge, or Smittybilt Armor that has a built-in step with it. However, if you're just looking for some door ding protection and a step and you're not as worried about protection or losing that ground clearance, then these are an inexpensive option that'll definitely get the job done. These steps are made of a tubular stainless steel. And as you can see, these are the oval curved version of these steps. RedRock four by four also has a straight oval version that simply doesn't have these curves at the end. It's really all about styling and what you would rather see on your Jeep. These are covered in a gloss black powder coat, and whether you're getting the four-door or the two-door version, you'll have a couple of stepping pads that are non-slip that make it really easy to get in and out of the Jeep in either muddy or wet or snowy conditions. As I said before, these are going to help protect your Jeep against some door dings. But if you're somebody who's going off-road, these are not going to survive those big off-road obstacles, and they will decrease your ground clearance just a bit.Getting these installed on your Jeep is a very simple process because they're designed to bolt on completely, which means you don't have to drill anything or do any sort of cutting. Getting these installed starts with getting rid of any step that you might currently have on the Jeep, including any sort of Rubi rail or any factory step. After that, you will have a couple of brackets that will bolt onto both the pinch seam and the underside of the tub. Now, Jeep did change the tub design a little bit throughout the years, so some of you will be able to thread a bolt directly into a threaded hole in the bottom of the tub, while others will have to use the nut plate included in the hardware pack to be able to install the brackets. Either your range that you have, you're going to have all the parts necessary to get them installed in the Jeep, and you'll probably have a couple of parts left over. Don't worry, just follow the instructions carefully and you won't have any problem getting this install done. Once you have the brackets bolted onto the pinch seam and the tub, you can bolt the step onto the brackets, and then torque everything down to spec. The whole installation shouldn't take you more than two hours to get both sides installed, and you won't need any specialty tools, just a good set of sockets. I would, however, recommend having a tap and die set handy because the threaded hole in the bottom of the tub, if you have one, can get some mud and rust in it, so running a tap up through it will help to clean it out and keep you from cross-threading any bolts. Also, the brackets that are included in the kit can have a little bit of powder coating on the thread. So if you have the proper die, running it over those threads, again, will help you to keep from cross threading anything. In my opinion, these are very fairly priced for what you get. There are a lot of side steps out there that look very similar to these ones, and they're all right around the same price range. These are going to be toward the bottom of that price range, but they'll certainly get the job done. They're a simple step that are well built and, in my opinion, they look pretty good. So, if you're looking to make it a little easier to get in and out of your stock or lifted JK and you don't have the need for more expensive, stronger armor, this is going to be a really nice option. So, that's my review of the RedRock four by four Curved Oval Side Step fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Problem right out of the box !
The pad on the driver side bar looks like something is trying to protrude through it. Very cheap looking pads. I guess it falls back on me for not reading more reviews on these. I have yet to hear back from the company to find out how to fix this issue.Helpful (0)

2017 JK Gobi Tan Red Rock Side Step
Side steps work very well for the price. Instructions are bad like most things and did not most of hardware since I had different running boards prior to this.Helpful (2)

Seems to be a cheap metal, bends easy . The directions for install suck. The parts were not labeled so it was a guessing game for install for sure. Just ok but look good.Helpful (2)

Did not fit
This did not fit on my 2018 Jk. Had to leave the brackets a little twisted to fit. The brackets fit the holes in the frame and pinch seam but the holes on the bars to the back were 3/4” off. Had to loosen all the bolts and screw in the bar then tighten the frame and pinch seam bolts.Helpful (2)

Noticed rust coming through from under the plastic foot pads after 9-10 months. Not covered under warranty. Quoted "recommend sanding down the areas that are rusting, spray them Rust-Oleum and then re-coat the side steps." I'll take action to prevent complete erosion, but this is a poor quality product. Waste of money. Would not recommend this product.Helpful (3)

Red Rock Side Steps
The Red Rock side steps add a finished looked to my 2015 JK and are very useful in getting in and out of the Jeep. The installation was very easy, however, i had to purchase some of my own hardware to complete the install because there was not enough included to install the 4 mounting brackets.Helpful (2)
I have a 2018 JKU Rubicon, can I keep my rock rails on and still install this side step rail.
No, these side steps will mount to the same location the rock rails are already installed to.
I notice that most side rails sit very far forward, almost inside the front fender well. Is it possible to mount them slightly further back so they will not interfere with front mud flaps? I drive mostly gravel roads where mud and rocks are thrown up onto the handles, doors and rear fenders. I want to put side rails to protect from the rocks, and mud flaps to stop the mud and cow manure from covering the handles and hinges. Can they be slid back slightly?
These would not be able to be slid back without modification to the kit.
Can the rubber step part be replaced? One of ours is breaking off cracking.
Unfortunately RedRock 4x4 doe not make a replacement plastic step cover.
This product will fit a 2018 4 door Rubicon limited edition?
The RedRock 4x4 4 in. Straight Oval Side Step Bars will fit your 2018 Wrangler Rubicon JK.
I have the Mopar mudflaps. Will these step bars still fit?
These side steps will work on your JKU but you may see some rubbing with the mud flaps when used together.
Hi, the RedRock 4x4 4 in straight oval side step bars are meant to be a fixed installation.
The RedRock 4x4 4 in. Straight Oval Side Steps does not specify a weight limit at this time.
The RedRock 4x4 4 in. Curved Oval Side Steps are sold in pairs, so it will include both the passenger and drivers side. There is always a "Whats in the Box" section on our item pages as well, should you have any questions on what is included on other products as well.
Unfortunately the RedRock 4x4 4 in. Straight Oval Side Step - Textured Black (07-17 Wrangler JK 2 Door) will not fit with your factory rock rails. An Item that should work with your factory rock rails would be the BARRICADE ROCK SLIDERS (07-17 WRANGLER JK 2 DOOR); Item #J100288, Which can be found here: http://www.extremeterrain.com/barricade-rock-sliders-jk-j100288.html.
Hello, for the RedRock 4x4 4 in. Curved Oval Side Step - Gloss Black (07-17 Wrangler JK 2 Door) if you have the Rubicon Rails you will have to remove them to install the Side Steps.
