A great replacement for your stock radio.

Hello, I bought this unit and had it installed in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited today. It's a great unit and it does allow you to use your steering wheel controls with just the plug and play of the radio. It looks great in the dash and I find the sound output to be so much better than the stock radio. However, there are some issues which is why I gave it 4/5 stars. First, the unit doesn't plug and play your Sirius XM from the previous radio. I still have my free complimentary year of free subscription active, but I have to wait for a module to become available which will allow me to use the satellite feature. Secondly, I have a second usb port in my front armrest/console which no longer connects to the radio. I would plug my ipod to this port and throw it in the armrest out of sight, but now I have to use the usb on the front face of the unit. Not the worst thing because now I can plug my android phone in the armrest usb and charge it without the radio attempting to connect to it. Third, you lose the function of the uconnect buttons on the steering wheel which is to be expected, but the buttons still somehow control the radio, but I've yet to figure exactly what they control, but they do still have a function. Other than these issues, the unit is really great and the camera is a real benefit. The camera even uses distance lines which is better than just the image of what's behind you. The only true negative for me was the Sirius XM issue. Thanks

    Exellent Product

Purchased this as a replacement for a Pioneer 950BH unit that was stolen from my 2013 Jeep. Installation: Was a breeze. No thanks to the instructions that come with the unit. The instructions are pretty bad and it would be impossible to follow them and have a successful, easy install. There are a few videos on YouTube that show prepping the unit's wiring and one that shows the install into a Jeep. I watched each one 4-5 times and had no issues at all during the installation afterwards. Note that I an a total novice when it comes to installing these sorts of things. Phone: It connected effortlessly to my Samsung Note 3 and my wife's IPhone 5. The unit comes with an external mic, but also has a mic that is built into the unit. I did not install the external as the built in mic seems to work fine. Sound quality on the built in mic was clear, but sounded slightly distant. Still good enough to try for a while before installing the external. GPS: Gained satellite signal immediately and after driving around all day, going to a couple parking garages, I didn't lose signal once. I did notice the maps seems outdated or incomplete as far as finding businesses by search. Radio: Sound quality is much better than the factory unit and seems cleaner than the pioneer unit I had. Very easy interface to use and customize. Backup Camera: Does exactly what a backup camera should. Clean picture, and the unit triggers on reverse instantly. DVD Playback: Nice picture and sound. Parking brake must be applied. Cant just have an automatic vehicle in park. Fitment: Wonderful. This unit looks like it came off the lot factory installed. It looks great and fits perfectly in the dash. I am not a fan of the motorized screen. It tilts down and out of the way of the SD card slot and the CD/DVD player. I am always worried that the mechanism will stop functioning and then I am unable to access those functions physically, or it gets stuck in the down position. The positive with this is that it allows for a larger screen as the DVD player and SD card slot is hidden behind it. Overall I think this is a pretty solid unit and am happy with my purchase!

It may look OE but . . .

that's where it ends. Fortunately Extreme Terrain stood behind the product and made things right. The unit takes a good 30 seconds to boot-up. Raxiom says well that's because it's a computer. Well I don't want to start my car and then wait 30 sends or more to use the back-up camera! The last straw was when my professional installer could not get the unit to operate correctly in my 2016 Wrangler and Raxiom told them I would need to buy an update! The unit was brand new out of the box, paid top dollar and they still want me to pay for an update. UNBELIEVABLE! If after all of this you do decide to buy this unit know that you will need an adapter to use the satellite radio (regardless of what anyone tells you) - yep just a few more dollars. What a fiasco. I am surprised that E.T. actually carries this based on the dealings I had with Raxiom. Best of luck if you decide to buy. Thanks again to E.T. for making this right.

    For "standard sound systems"

I am glad that the information has changed to show that this radio is for the standard sound systems and not the Alpine system. We bought this and found out after several tries to get the sound to work that it wouldn't work on our Alpine system. Had to return it. We loved the product easy to install (if you get more information than what comes with the system). Great factory look. Just hope Raxiom puts together one that can work with Alpine system.

    Great Product

Installed on a Sunday afternoon to upgrade from the basic radio package. I also installed a amp/ 8"sub and Kicker replacement speakers. Not to bad of a job, just a lot of tedious work. The worst part was running the wires and stuffing the head unit back in place. After it was done it was great. Camera works nice. Navigation is also nice. The sound difference is night and day. The internal mic works well, as well as the bluetooth. I am very happy with the complete setup, and recommend it.

    Worked for about 1 year....

After the straight forward installation of the unit I was thrilled with the upgraded audio quality and performance. About half a year later the unit began restarting mid use but it wasn't too often maybe once every 2 weeks. Now it gets stuck with an endless boot loop and once I get it to start and play music it only lasts 2 minutes at most and restarts again with the endless boot loop. *I will update this review after I hear back from customer service and see what they can do to help but for now I am stuck with no stereo

    Raxiom Nav

Just installed this unit in my 2017 JKU Rubicon, and I love it. Bluetooth connection to my phone's (Samsung and Apple) very simple. Installation took about 2 hours, that included the installation of Nav antenna in the sports bar (I put mine on the drivers side by the speaker) the installation of the back up camera, and last the installation in the phone mic (you don't reuse your factory mic). I found it made installation of these items much easier when I removed the drivers side freedom panel and the drivers door. The last part of the install was fitting all of the wiring back into the dash, yes it fits just take your time. Two thing you need to buy if you want Sirius radio, are the Sat. antenna adapter (to reuse the factory Sirius antenna) and the Sat radio module. Over all the steering wheel controls work, I have noticed that the phone buttons only activate the phone screen, they do not work with voice command like the Uconnect does (but I don't like the way Uconnect works) so no lose there. As I said before this is a great unit.

    It's okay

The theory and looks are great, however, the unit does not come with any manuals at all! No installation or user manual. It's been installed about two weeks now and I'm seeing quality issues. On several occasions, the unit has simply shut off and restarted on its own. Quite frankly, I expected more for what the unit costs.

    Very Nice

This is a really nice radio. You can customize the splash screen with the Jeep logo - that's really cool. With normal installation you lose connectivity (but oddly not power) to the USB port in the arm rest. However, you can use the extra rear USB on the unit - there is a connection to the armrest USB - this connect is under where the emergency brake is - pull up that plastic piece and you will see it. Just get on old style USB mini cable about 3' long and run it from the extra USB port on the rear of the unit to the connection under the emergency break. This will bring the arm rest USB in connection with the radio.

    Good but not Great.

This is an amazing upgrade from the basic stock head units without GPS. For the price you get a lot of features you wouldn't get even if you paid over a thousand dollars for the stock unit with navigation. Everything is basically plug n play, and the backup camera is an added bonus. The sound is good, not great but better than stock. Very simple interface and navigating through the menus is a breeze. The gps is a little choppy and not as smooth as the stock one. I had this unit for about a week before I made the tough decision to return it. My cons were that I couldn't get any of my radio stations in clear, they were constantly fading in and out. I had the gps signal drop two times in one week, and though it sounded pretty good, I found myself constantly adjusting the bass, and treble depending on what type of music I was listening to. I would recommend this unit to someone who likes the stock look and doesn't want to cut up the dash to make it fit, but if you are looking for concert sound in your Wrangler look elsewhere.

Nice upgrade at a reasonable price

Very good unit...well worth the money. I would have given it five stars BUT Raxiom sent the wrong wiring harness. (Things happen) Great fit, and a nice upgrade to my jeep. The Nav system and the phone are much better than I expected. I do recommend this system.

    Raxiom Nav Radio

I couldn't wait for my new head unit to arrive. I was a little disappointed at the instructions, but truthfully the swap is so simple, nothing more is needed. The swap took less than 30 minutes with basic hand tools and I was up and running. Plug and play. All functions work great. Took me some time to learn that camera needs to be turned in the settings I'm now using it as the base of my system which includes Alpine 5 channel amp and shallow sub, infinity components in front and 6 1/2 in sound bar, iPod connect and Sirius (adapter sold separately). Couldn't be happier. Great way to add Nav and hands free calling to your base Jeep for not a lot of money.

    Perfect upgrade

Just got this installed in our '13 Wrangler JKU. Easiest installation I've had in a nav/DVD unit. Totally plug and play. I read the reviews and was pleasantly surprised that most of the bugs had been worked out. Our JK is a stick shift. We were worried the backup camera wouldn't work as stated in a couple reviews. A simple click on settings and it looks great and works perfectly. Installed the SVX300 for the SiriusXM. This is a must have. The unit works flawlessly with our IPhones. The best thing we found was you can use Lat/long to navigate. This is very useful since we are members of our county Search and Rescue team. Overall we are extremely (no pun) happy with this unit. The sound is amazing and had features you can only find in this unit.

    Excellent Upgrade over Stock

When I first bought my Rubi I knew I needed to replace my head unit with something since the factory uConnect is sub-par at best. I shopped around for a little bit and really liked the way the Raxiom still had an OEM appearance but had all the upgrades I was looking for (Touchscreen, Backup Camera, GPS, etc.). In addition to the head unit, I opted for the optional backup camera spare tire bracket, and the premium sound harness since I have the Alpine Sound System. This unit has full Bluetooth hands free operation, and retains factory steering wheel controls. Install took about 2-3 hours taking my time and documenting everything. Everything is 100% plug and play. It's a very straight forward install, and just about anyone who works on their vehicles regularly could get this done in their garage/driveway. Look no further for an upgrade of the stock head unit!
