Key Features. When the temperature sending unit on your Jeep wears out, you can get a reliable replacement part via Omix-ADA. The original manufacturer specifications have been used in the production of this part, making them direct OE replacements, so there is no worrying about proper fitment or performance.

Construction. Made of brass with a rubber gasket, this Temperature Sending Unit is built to last a long time. In fact, it meets or exceeds OE standards, eliminating the risk of a faulty part leaving you stranded. The thread portion measures 1/4 inch.

Installation. Plan to spend about 2-4 hours installing this part, depending on your skill level. One potential problem you might run into is that the threads are corroded, making removing the Temperature Sending Unit far more difficult. Before attempting to remove the component to be replaced, it is necessary to drain at least some of the coolant from the system. You should have moderate to advanced mechanical skills, plus need basic tools including a socket wrench. Teflon tape to wrap around the threads of the replacement Temperature Sending Unit is a good thing to have on hand as well.

Application. This Temperature Sending Unit from Omix-ADA is designed to fit 1987-1990 Jeep Wranglers 2.5/4.2, 1986-1991 Jeep Cherokees 4.2, 1986-1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneers 5.9/6.6 and 1987-1990 Jeep Cherokees 2.1/2.5.

        1 1987 Wrangler - TomJr

        Wrong sending unit for YJ

4th sending unit i've tried, and still not the right one for this YJ. I guess i'll try to locate one in a junk yard.

        4 1989 - RussC

Did the job, but made me wonder.

I didn't shop around a lot before I ordered, but the price with shipping seemed pretty fair here. Shipping was fast, and even though I chose standard shipping, it was at my house 2 days after I ordered. I pulled the old one out and went to put this one in - and this one didn't want to go down far enough for the threads to engage. I pulled it out and compared and this one has a slightly larger diameter on the part that sticks into the engine. I tried again and shoved it on down, and got the threads to start. Made sure it wasn't cross threaded but it was tight the whole way in. Reconnected the wire and went for a test drive, and was glad to have temperature reading again. It works! This was on a 2.5L 4-banger.
