Would this carrier work with a 295/ 70 R 18 sized tire along with OEM/standard rear bumper for 2012 JKU?

      • This will hold the rim/tire but may interfere with your factory bumper.

Will this tire mount hold a 37in tire 13.50 wide with a 20in rim without hitting the bumper?

      • It would depend on the bumper installed with the mount as well as the backspacing/offset of your 20 inch wheel. It is also recommended to reinforce and/or upgrade tailgate hinges as well with a tire as large as a 37".

          Fell apart

This seemed good at first, installed easily, but after a couple months of riding around, the stubs that connect to the tire came off, and gave my tire a crooked appearance. It was still sturdy beyond the nubs, but I am looking to replace this now with something stronger.

          Love it

I bought this to replace my factory spare tire holder since it cracked. I wanted an inexpensive replacement. It was super easy to install. The steel is high quality and very sturdy. I bought an aftermarket third break light with this as the one that is on the factory tire carrier cannot he used with this tire carrier. I bought the LED disc break light they sits behind the spare tire. It gives it a cool too. I am very happy with my purchase.

          Works good

Much better than the stock carrier which cracked under the load of a Mud Grappler.

          Sturdy

It's a lot stronger than the stock tire carrier. I don't think it helps a bigger tire fit. I have 32 inch 255/75/17 that came on the Jeep and after installing this it still almost touches the bumper I have about a inch of room between my tire and the bumper. So will have to see if 35's fit when I get them.

Converts LJ Spare to JK Bolt Pattern

Solution: Spare Tire Mount for a JK rim on an LJ/TJ Took a chance and bought this Olympic 4x4 Extended Heavy Duty Tire Mount for a JK and it bolts right up to an LJ. It moves the tire out two inches and up slightly. So With this, I get a heavy duty spare tire mount and also swap my spare tire bolt patterns to the JK. Very nice piece. I’m mounting some AEV Pintlers on KO2 33s 285/70 17 LRC. Looks like it’s a perfect fit.

Sturdy, but not what I expected

Their tire mount is definitely stronger that the stock mount and does push the tire further away from the tailgate, but it does not raise it up at all. This was for my sons jeep, he has 33 inch tires, and even with this mount the tire still hits the bumper, so we are going to have to get something else to make this work.

Just what I was looking for !

This item is exactly what I was looking for. I upgraded to larger tires and didn't want to spend all that money on a new full spare tire hinge/bracket. I will be keeping an eye on the tailgate to see if weight is an issue but so far so good.

It was not as pictured, when it arrived. I scoured the listing and did not see anything about the item could be different than pictured.

          Spare tire holder

The tire holder works pretty good on my 2008 JK Probably the least expensive option I could find. It doesn't look like the one pictured, similar... It bolts on only using 4 of the factory bolts. ( the factory spare tire holder uses a gasket where it bolts to tail gate) No gasket provided, I made my own to protect paint This tire holder is Heavy This spare tire would be awesome if it were made from aluminum and a gasket was included.

          Excellent Product

Easy install, bolts to mount the tire were a tad off, so you have to use your knee to lift the tire before tightening the lug nuts….But no big deal. Overall product is a great value.

          Customer Service!

As far as the part I ordered goes- it's great, it fits, it's exactly what I needed........HOWEVER- it's the customer service that got me! I went in to get an oil change on my '08 Jeep Wrangler, and was informed my spare tire mount was cracked and could become potentially dangerous. I had no idea what I needed, but Extreme Terrain did! They took their time, were VERY helpful- and the part was shipped out the next day!

          Temporary Fix

This parts continues to put weight on your tailgate and stresses the hinges. It is a short term fix and you will have to replace it with a new bumper with the tire holder or you will have a drop in your tailgate and need new hinges.
