Off Camber Fabrications by MBRP Full Width Front Non-Winch Bumper Package w/ Formed Light Bar (07-18 Wrangler JK)
I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com and this is my review in installation of the Off Camber Fabrications by MBRP Front Full with Bumper available for all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This bumper is available in a couple of different configurations. You can get it with this formed light bar mount, that is designed to accept any industry standard 20 inch LED light bar, or a more traditional bumper hoop on the top that has a couple of light mounting tabs for individual lights or light pods. It's also available with and without the winch mount on the front of it, and you can get it in a couple of different finishes. This bumper is also available in a stubby version if you're looking for something a little bit shorter. Today, I'm gonna talk about the construction, some of the features and of course the installation of this bumper. This bumper is for those of you who are looking for a front bumper that is really well-built and has a little bit of a unique style, at least in a few of the different configurations that it is available in. If you get this formed LED light bar, it does have a little bit more of a unique look than a lot of the other light bars and bumper hoops that you can get on a lot of other bumpers. This bumper is going to be a lot more expensive than a lot of other bumpers on the market. This is just a front bumper and while it does have a lot of the features you would expect to see on a front bumper, there isn't anything else really standout about it. However, the price is going to be considerably higher than a lot of other ones. In my opinion this bumper is for those of you who really like this style, who fall in love with this bumper and have a large budget for it. This bumper is both from three-sixteenth inch steel and the mounting brackets up here are made of a quarter inch steel, so they are going to be very beefy and they are going to have no problems using this bumper for recovery. As I mentioned before, the bumper is available in a few different configurations, one of those is no light bar or no light mounts or bumper hoop and no winch mount, just a standard front bumper. Then you can get it with a built-in winch mount, that will accept almost all 9500-pound winches and some 12,000pound winches depending on the manufacturer. This winch plate does have a couple of different holes drilled into it to allow you to move the winch around a little bit, and make sure that it fits into the bumper in the best way as possible. However, because this is a bit of a sunken winch, look some larger body winches may not fit in this. Then you have different options for the light mount as well. As I mentioned, this is what Off Camber Fab is calling their LED formed light bar mount, and has a couple of different holes drilled in the bottom, for most of the industry standard 20 inch LED light bars. Then there is a more traditional round bumper hoop that just has two light mounting tabs on it if you're more interested in putting some light pods on your bumper instead of an LED light bar. The round tubing makes this bumper look a little bit more run of the mill, a little bit more like a lot of other bumpers on the market, but this more squared off formed LED light bar mount does give this bumper a little bit more of the unique look. Down here, you do have slots to mount your factory fog lights, which is always a nice feature in my opinion, no matter what type of aftermarket auxiliary lights you're looking to add, I always like to be able to retain the use of a factory fog light or a replacement light that is designed to fit in a factory location. It also has a couple of slots down here that are dedicated hi-lift jacking points. As we all know hi-lift jack can be a little bit dangerous, but having a spot for the tongue of the jack to fit into inside of the bumper does make it a little bit safer to use. Aside from that as I mentioned before, you have these very beefy d-ring mounts, the bolts are gonna go through the d-ring mounts through the bumper, and right into the frame horns like most aftermarket bumpers, giving you a really strong connection. Something else that's a little bit unique about Off Camber Fabrication is that, they do offer their bumpers, Line-X from the factory. Line-X is traditionally a bed liner for pickup trucks, but it's a very strong material that you're not gonna have to worry about rubbing off, chipping, flaking, feeling any of that is gonna be a very very strong finish. The bumpers are also available in a powder coated finish like you see here. Now this is gonna be a very easy install onto your jeep, it bolts on like most other aftermarket bumpers, which means you don't have to drill or cut anything. It bolts right in a factory location making the install very, very easy. Now one thing that you will have to do with this bumper because it has this sunken winch plate mounting point, is relocating your vacuum pump. That's usually something that's reserved for stubby bumpers which create a lot less room in the bumper, and you just don't have room for a vacuum pump. Even though this is a full width bumper, you will have to relocate your vacuum pump if you have a 2012 to 2016 JK. It just isn't room with this winch mounting point for it to stay in the factory location. We do offer a couple of relocation kits, so it's really not too big of a deal but it is something you're gonna have to purchase separately, and it is a step that you don't always have to take with some of the other full width bumpers on the market. Now the first step in the installation is to remove your factory front bumper. In order to do that, you'll have to get the splash shield out of the way by removing the plastic clips, then remove the eight nuts holding the factory bumper in place, and unclip your fog light wiring harness from the bumper itself. After that, the bumper will just come right off. You can remove your factory fog lights from the factory bumper and install them in your new bumper, as well as installing any light bar mount or formed LED light bar mount that you might get with this bumper, and also installing a winch if you purchased a winch bumper. Now, this whole package is gonna be very heavy and very difficult to hoist on to the Jeep. However, it's very, very difficult to get to the bolts for the winch and also for the light bar if you don't do it when the bumper is on the ground. You do have to put it together all as one package, and then hoist up onto the Jeep. If you have an extra set of hands around, it's not going to be a big deal. It is a little bit heavy or if you have a set of jack stands, you can set it on there yourself if you don't have a friend to help or even an engine hoist and use, that makes things really easy. After you have the bumper set up over the frame horns, it's just a matter of putting the d-ring mounts in place and bolting everything through the d-ring mounts, through the bumper, through the frame rails giving you that really solid connection. Then all you have to do is wire up your lights in your winch, and you're finished. Getting the bumper itself installed shouldn't take you more than an hour, and you won't need any specialty tools for this job just some hand tools. Although some of the factory nuts are a little bit difficult to get to, so is some extensions and some universals will make that easier. Now as I said before, in different configurations if you're gonna get this bumper with the sunken winch mount, if you're gonna get a Line-X from the factory and you're going to get this formed LED light bar mount, the bumper does have some unique features that make it a little different from the other ones, and start to rationalize the price tag that comes with it. However, in my opinion, if you're looking to get a bumper that doesn't have some of those features, maybe just the full width front bumper, no light bar mount, no winch mount. This will look pretty similar to some of the other bumpers on the market and in my opinion, some of those other ones are a little bit more reasonably priced. However, if you like the Off Camber Fab brand, you like MDRP and you want something that's really well-built, and you like the style in particular, I've nothing bad to say about this bumper, it's very well-built. If you have a big budget for a front bumper, and you're looking for something that's available in a bit of a unique setup, I would definitely recommend taking a look at all the different options you can get from Off Camber Fab.
