This MBRP Black Series Cat-Back Exhaust system for your 2007-2011 4-door JK is going to be for those of you that are looking to maintain the single outlet exhaust system, but give you a lower exhaust note and additional exhaust volume. This system is going to be a little bit less expensive than some of the other ones on the website because this is a system that's made of aluminized steel that's covered in this high-tech black coating instead of being a stainless system, so it will save you a little bit of money while still giving you that lower exhaust note and additional volume. Now, if you are looking for a system that's a little bit more high clearance, MBRP does offer a system that will relocate the muffler from the back of the Jeep here to an area closer to the catalytic converters, almost in the same area that the factory resonator is in on the newer JKs, so you have a little bit less stuff to bang up on with rocks. So, if you are somebody who goes off-road a lot and you're considering having a little bit higher clearance, that can be a good system to look at. As it says in the name, this is a Cat-Back system and it is going to replace all of the piping and your muffler from the catalytic converters all the way to the back of the Jeep. This system does come in a couple of different pieces which will make it easier to get it installed on your JK. So, you are going to have your extension pipe, your over axle pipe, your muffler, of course, and then your tail pipe. This system is going to be a steel system covered in that high-tint black coating. This is 16-gauge steel. The tip itself is a 304 stainless. That's also covered in that same high-tint black coating. This is going to utilize all of your factory exhaust hangers so there is no major modifications to the jeep necessary to get this installed and it will come with all the clamps that you need to get everything installed. This is going to be a one out of three wrench install that will take you right around an hour to complete. If you do have some rust on your '07 to '11 JK, make sure you spray everything with a good penetrating oil well before you get started, including all those factory hangers. That's going to make it a lot easier to get this thing installed. Exhaust systems are notoriously rust magnets, so spray everything. It will definitely help. Now, the first step in this install is going to be removing all of the factory piping from the catalytic converters back and you can do that by removing the factory clamps, the factory hangers and then just prying, pulling, jiggling, whatever you need to do to get that factory system apart. Again, this can cause a little bit of a headache, but if you spray everything ahead of time, it will definitely help. Then you can go ahead and start to install your new system. First, you'll install the extension piping to the catalytic converter collector pipe and that does have a hanger on it. Of course, using the clamp that's included. That will go into your over axle pipe which will lead into your muffler section. And finally, your tail pipe and your tip. You can leave all of your clamps loose until you get everything aligned exactly how you want it. Then go back through starting at the front, working your way to the back and tighten down all of your clamps. Like I mentioned, this is going to be a $375 Cat-Back system. This is the least expensive single outlet system that we offer on the site that includes all of the piping that this one does. Now, because this isn't going to be a stainless steel system, you do have to worry if you live in the rust belt about rotting. However, this does have that high-tint black coating which is definitely going to help keep the longer life in the exhaust system. So, if you want a lower exhaust note, you want a little bit more exhaust volume, you like the blacked out look, but you don't have a big budget for exhaust, I think this one is worth looking into. So, if you're looking for a budget black single outlet exhaust system, I think the MBRP Black Series Cat-Back is a good option for you and you can find it right here at

Construction. MBRP's Black Series is designed to withstand rigorous conditions on and off the road, and this system's high temperature black coating fends off corrosion and contains heat within the exhaust. 2.5 inch diameter, 16 gauge tubing features Mandrel bends calculated to precisely enhance horsepower and torque. The system is fabricated from stainless steel, as are the 4 included band clamps, which provide a snug fit. The T304 stainless tip is removable.

This Black Series exhaust system combines precisely balanced performance, a handsome look, and deep throated yet melodious engine notes. The muffler mounts high for maximum clearance while rock crawling, and its chambered design makes it highly water resistant.

Application. MBRP backs this system with a three year warranty. This system fits the 2007 - 2011 4 door, JK Wranglers.

Noise? Describe or can you compare anything? I have a soft top. Let me say this-_When I bought it, i didn't know the tires hummed. Next day, a new set. This exhaust system, does it sound deep or just loud? Like one of those rice jets annoying you as they pass you? Wouldn't mind getting more power, torque. Any ideas for me and the misses would be appreciated.

        • The MBRP Cat Back Exhaust - Black (07-11 Wrangler JK 4 Door) features a very throaty and loud (yet fairly conservative compared to others) sound. This system may not be preferred when running a soft top.

            A bit disappointed!

I received this exhaust today, when I opened the box, 2 of the 5 parts that completes the exhaust are silver and not black like it shows on the website pics. I will now have to spray paint them with heat resistance those silver parts. That defeats the purpose of saving time to install other Jeeps parts. I won’t buy this item again for my next JK project.

Very easy installation hardest part of the job is getting the old exhaust off. After the old exhaust was off took me about 45 minutes. Great sound not over bearing but still gives you a great low rumble. For the price would def recommend

            Easier Than I Thought

I really didn't want to deal with this, but since I was temporarily laid off I felt I had no excuses. Follow the directions and it is quite easy. I did not remove the skid plate brace as advised in the directions, as I was able to gitter done without doing so, however, it would have only taken another minute or so to remove it. Also, the Jeep has a lift kit and large tires, so no jacks/stands were needed. In total, it took me about two hours, but I wasn't trying to get it done quickly. Saved over $360 based on the estimate I got to have it replaced. Nice growly sound to the muffler, too.

4 2012 Rubicon - DougS Installation Time: Afternoon

            Very well made!

The installation was easy and well explained, although I am a ASE technician, I tried to look at the instructions as if I knew nothing. The sound is a little bit too "tuner car" than I would prefer, but it is a single out on a V-6, so it's what I would expect. Hopefully, the sound will mellow out as the exhaust burns in. Overall, I'm very pleased. The quality is very very good for the price point the look is great, and the installation was nice and easy!!

            Love I!

I love the sound of this new exhaust, it has a nice low throaty growl and it's not obnoxiously loud when the hardtop is off. I would have given it 5 stars but the exhaust pieces all needed to be widened at the ends to make them fit together. I'm not sure if it happened during shipping or if it was right from the factory but the openings were all just a little too small and one of them was just slightly squared off. Nothing that a good size piece of pipe and a little muscle didn't cure though. The hardest part was taking the factory exhaust off. I had to remove the skid plate to pull the longer factory section off. I would recommend having a pair of exhaust pliers to remove the exhaust from the rubber hangers, if you don't have a pair then have a friend help you (I did). It's almost impossible to do by yourself. Having said that I have a 4" lift with 35" tires, so I did not hoist the jeep, I just crawled underneath it. Otherwise I am very happy with the quality and sound, can't wait to take her for a spin into the desert!

Not loud but throaty, they know your coming!

Good improvement in tone, especially on exceleration ,remembering, this is a 6 cylinder it sounds good.thought it might sound like a rice burner, I was alittle concerned, but no longer!. I can not evaluate increase in mileage yet as it was just installed. If you have access to a lift or have good mobility, self installation is easy.I observed the shop do it took about 30 min.and was an easy install. Shop way over charges for the job. If I had good knees could have done this myself max. Time an hr..From the rear looks great, nice clean look.A surprise to me my wife likes the tone. Happy with this purchase, and price
