Today, we're going to talk through the installation of these tail lights, which is a very simple one out of three-wrench install. These are going to be a plug and play tail light, so no wiring is necessary, and they'll attach in the factory mounting location. So the whole process shouldn't take you more than a half-hour to complete, and we'll talk more about that in just a second. We're also going to talk through the construction and a few of the features of these lights. These are for those of you looking to change up the look of your Jeep. Changing out the lights is one way to drastically change the overall appearance of your vehicle, and going with LED can definitely give your Jeep a much more modern feel, as well as being able to customize things. Now, these are going to be the black version of these Axial lights. There are also a host of other colors. Some are going to be different lens colors. Some are going to be different backgrounds to the actual diodes themselves. So you can get a variety of different looks out of these. Now, when you're talking about lighting, there is lighting on all ends of the spectrum. There is your very, very cheap eBay lighting that isn't going to last. You're going to end up with individual diodes going out. You're going to end up with water in your tail light. Or you're going to have to do a lot of cutting and soldering to get the light installed. Then, there is the top of the line stuff that is going to be very high-quality, but also very, very expensive. Recon would fall into that area. Now, this is a light by Axial. It's going to have some similar features, some similar looks to that Recon lighting. However, it is going to be less expensive. This still isn't bargain basement pricing. This is still going to be priced appropriately for the quality that you're getting, because this is a well-built light. But it is going to be a little bit less expensive than the top of the top premium lights. It's kind of where it falls in both the quality and the price range. So it's going to be for those of you looking to change up the look of your Jeep, wanting a quality light, but not wanting to break the bank [inaudible]. As far as the construction goes, this is going to be very similar to a factory housing. However, everything else is going to be completely different. You're going to have individual LEDs on the inside that make up a matrix or a grid for both the reverse and the tail/turn/stop light. You're also going to have a diode and a reflector on the outside of the Jeep, making sure that you're legal and visible from the side as well. As I said, these are going to be a completely plug and play light. So all you have to do is unplug your factory light and plug these in, no wiring necessary, making for a very easy install. So to get these installed, again, is a one out of three-wrench installation. About a half-hour's time is all you're going to need, and the first step is of course removing your factory tail lights. Now, there are four screws around the outside of your tail light lens. The ones toward the inside of your Jeep are the ones that remove the whole housing from the vehicle. The ones from the outside just remove that lens so you can change the bulb. We're not doing that, so just remove those two inside screws. That'll allow you to kick the light at a bit of an angle, and then unclip it from the body. Pull it out a little bit, and you'll be able to see the wiring harness connection. Unplug it. Set your old tail light aside. Take the new one, plug it into your wiring harness. You'll have to set in that left side first, and then kind of hinge the light back toward the body of the Jeep again, and use those factory screws to attach it. The process is very, very simple, very self-explanatory. Again, no wiring, no drilling, no cutting. It's something anyone can do in their driveway, which will have a huge impact on the way your Jeep looks. I talked a little bit before about how these are priced in comparison to the competition, and these are going to come in at right around $240, which by no means is inexpensive for a set of tail lights. But it's also not going to be the top of the price range either. In my opinion, if you're going to get an LED tail light like this, there are a lot of things that can go wrong with a light like this, individual diodes going out, whole boards going out, different sections of the grid going out. You do want to spend a little bit more money on a tail light if you want to get something that's going to last. This is going to be more of a buy once, cry once type situation, spend the money know, and you're going to have it for a long time. You could spend half of this money, but you're going to have to be replacing those lights a lot more often. On the flipside of that coin, you can go out there and you can get the top of the top, the most expensive lights on the market. The quality is going to be there. They're going to be a very well-built light. But you are going to have to come out of pocket a little bit more. I think that this is a really nice balance of high quality and a slightly lower price than those premium lights. So if you're looking to change out the tail lights on your JK to an LED set for a much brighter light, something that's going to last a long time, and get that crisp, clean, modern-looking on and off that only LED can provide, I think this is going to be a nice option.
