The JMS PedalMAX Drive By Wire Throttle Enhancement is for those of you that have a 2007 and up JK and are looking for a little bit more of a sporty feel from your JK. Now, this is not a tuner, this is not a calibrator. This is not going to actually give you any more power, or any more horsepower, or any more torque, but it is going to give you a slightly sportier feel by taking that lag out of the pedal. Right out of the factory, when you hit the throttle of your JK, there is a little bit of a lag, a little bit of a slow pickup. That's going to help with miles per gallon, and it's just how the JK is tuned from the factory, but if you don't like that, if you want to get rid of it, and again, have a little bit of a sportier feel, this is going to be a pretty nice option for you. Now, as far as these types of modules go, there are a few different ones out there. There is another version of this, not made by JMS. It's gonna come in right around the same price range, and that unit does have a lot more flexibility built into it, right out of the box. That unit's actually designed to stay right up on the dashboard. It has a bunch of different settings that you can go through and change, sort of on the fly. This unit comes out of the box calibrated in one way. It does come with a jumper so that you can change that calibration a little bit, and you can also purchase an additional knob or dial so that you can have even more customization, but this unit here is really designed to be set and then left that way, not changed on the fly, and not changed all the time. So, if that's what you're looking for, this is going to be a great option. If you want to be able to have something that you change on the fly, again, there are other options out there that are gonna be right around the same cost. Most of these modules are going to be designed in the same way. This is going to go in line between your throttle pedal itself and the wiring harness that's in your Jeep. You simply unplug those two connections, plug this into the middle, and this is going to do what it needs to do to essentially tell the Jeep that the throttle is in a different position than it is, and give you that little bit of additional throttle response, especially when you're just coming off the line, taking off from a red light or from a stop sign. Now, this does have the ability, as I mentioned before, to plug in an additional knob to give you a lot more variability with exactly how much throttle response you're getting, but right out of the box, this is going to come preset with just a set of jumpers that can detune that to about 60%, so again, not quite as much flexibility, especially on the fly. This will have a couple of LED indicator lights built right into it, which is going to give you an indication of if it's working, if it's turned on, and to make sure that everything is set up and working properly, as it should be.Now, one of the nice things about this unit here is that it is stackable with most other OBD2 tuners and calibrators, so you can have this installed and also have a Flashcal or a Flashpaq, or one of the other tuners or calibrators on the market. This is going to play well with those, not going to cause any issues. So, again, very simple one-out-of-three wrench installation, probably not going to take you any more than 15 minutes to get this installed. And aside from the included miniature screwdriver that comes right in the box with this, you're not going to need any tools at all. All you need to do is climb underneath the dash of your Jeep, unplug the factory wiring harness right from the throttle pedal. You'll plug your PedalMAX into the wiring harness and plug the other end of the PedalMAX into your pedal, and you're pretty much done from there. You'll start the Jeep up, check the indicator lights on the JMS PedalMAX, also check for any check-engine lights or anything else that may have happened. If everything is working properly, you get in the Jeep, you go, and you have that more powerful feeling with a very easy install. The PedalMAX comes in at right around $300, where the Pedal Commander is going to be right around the same price, and again, have that more on-the-fly switching ability with just a set of buttons, don't have to buy anything additional to really fine-tune it. And like I said before, it really comes down to how you want to use this unit. A lot of people just wanna be able to set it and forget it, have it all set up, not need to have something additional on their dash, and they aren't going to be playing with this thing all the time, and for that, this is going to be a better option. However, if you like the ability to, on the fly, change your throttle response, then the Pedal Commander is probably going to be a better option. You're gonna have that module on the dash that you can change on the fly. So, it comes down to what you want on your Jeep, but both are going to be priced right around the same price range, and they're both going to work very well. So, if you're looking to eliminate a little bit of that throttle lag, this is going to be a really nice option for you, and you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Eliminates Pedal Lag. The drive by wire gas pedal of the 2012-2018 Jeep Wrangler is well known for lag. You have most likely noticed a delay in throttle response when speeding up to merge with traffic or when trying to feather the throttle to navigate up a rocky trail. On older Wranglers, the gas pedal was attached to a mechanical cable that ran to the throttle body or carburetor to provide instant feedback. However, on modern Jeeps, the accelerator pedal is electronically controlled, similar to a dimmer switch, which has to send the signal to the ECU, which in turn sends the signal to the throttle body causing this momentary delay. To eliminate this annoying delay, JMS created their PedalMAX Electronic Throttle Enhancement Device.

Maximum Throttle Response. Out of the box, the PedalMAX Throttle Enhancer is preset to provide maximum increase in throttle response. If you find the stock setting to be to aggressive for your driving needs, you can insert the supplied 4-pin RED de-sensitizing plug into the device. The RED de-sensitizing plug will reset throttle response to about 60% of the maximum setting. However, with the optional Remote Throttle Control Knob (part# BX-6999), you can adjust throttle response from zero to maximum or anywhere in between to match your specific driving style.

Stackable. The JMS PedalMAX can be stacked or used in conjunction with other aftermarket OBD-II programmers and monitors such as: SCT, Diablosport, Hypertech, Superchips, Bully Dog, and Edge as well as JMS' own BoostMAX Performance Booster.

Modern Electronics. The PedalMAX Drive By Wire Throttle Enhancement Device features JMS's exclusive state of the art digital technology housed in a proprietary sealed enclosure. The PedalMAX comes complete with plug and play wiring harness using OEM connectors for a quick installation.

Easy Plug & Play Installation. The PedalMAX Throttle Enhancer simply connects to the factory stock pedal position sensor using an OEM style connector with no permanent modifications required. PedalMAX is 100% reversible making it warranty friendly.

Application. This JMS PedalMAX Drive By Wire Throttle Enhancement Device is designed for use on all 2012-2018 Jeep Wrangler JKs.

    Ask a Question

Does it include the sensor/adjuster knob with the package? and how does it affect fuel economy?

    AliA

    • The JMS PedalMax Drive by Wire Throttle Enhancement will not include the optional single pedal knob. This is available separately, but at this time we do not offer it. You should not see any change in fuel economy caused by the JMS PedalMax Drive by Wire Throttle Enhancement, however due to the much more aggressive nature of the pedal, it may be hard to hold back from taking advantage of the increased sensitivity for some more spirited driving, which can effect fuel economy.

Can this product be used in conjunction with Sprint Booster V3 Power Converter (07-18 Wrangler JK)? If not is one superior to the other? https://www.extremeterrain.com/sprint-booster-v3-power-converter-0717-jk.html

    QuestionGuy

    • These devices can be stacked, however, they both are only adding to the throttle response of the Rig. They would not add much to throttle response when being used in conjunction. This would be better paired with a general programmer or tuner like the FlashPaq.

Will this module diminish fuel economy?

    RonH

    • The JMS PedalMax Drive by Wire Throttle Enhancement should not diminish fuel economy if using the same driving techniques.

      A noticeable improvement

It works well and is very much set-it-and-forget-it. For a manual transmission I find it makes the throttle response much more consistent and immediate, giving me better control. For the standard, I found the 100 setting a bit too responsive but the 60 has been perfect. After a couple hundred miles, you'll be completely used to it. While I don't know the ins and outs of how it works, it seems like it (and all similar items on the market) are quite overpriced, but if you can pay more than you should have to, it does the job without being fussy.

      Instant response

I do 100 miles a day in my jeep and the pedal lag was the worst part of my commute. The pedal max took that lag 100 percent away. Instant response. Install was very easy just alittle tricky of a area to get two hands in.

      Night and Day

As others have mentioned, not sure why this isn't a standard or at least part of a "package" at the dealership level. Took about a half hour to install. The minute I took it for a test, noticed a dramatic difference. I had a much better response by a long shot. You will never, ever go back to stock. No need to mess with the option of lower the percentage. Keep it at a 100. Highly recommend!!

      Finally!

Finally, immediate response from gas pedal. Still using at 100. I don't want to desensitize it any. At 60, still would be a night and day difference. Plug and play. Helpful tip, understanding how plugs fit before attempting to install . You'll be somewhat blind , so stay at it. It'll be worth it!
