The JMS PedalMAX Drive By Wire Throttle Enhancement is for those of you that have a 2007 and up JK and are looking for a little bit more of a sporty feel from your JK. Now, this is not a tuner, this is not a calibrator. This is not going to actually give you any more power, or any more horsepower, or any more torque, but it is going to give you a slightly sportier feel by taking that lag out of the pedal. Right out of the factory, when you hit the throttle of your JK, there is a little bit of a lag, a little bit of a slow pickup. That's going to help with miles per gallon, and it's just how the JK is tuned from the factory, but if you don't like that, if you want to get rid of it, and again, have a little bit of a sportier feel, this is going to be a pretty nice option for you. Now, as far as these types of modules go, there are a few different ones out there. There is another version of this, not made by JMS. It's gonna come in right around the same price range, and that unit does have a lot more flexibility built into it, right out of the box. That unit's actually designed to stay right up on the dashboard. It has a bunch of different settings that you can go through and change, sort of on the fly. This unit comes out of the box calibrated in one way. It does come with a jumper so that you can change that calibration a little bit, and you can also purchase an additional knob or dial so that you can have even more customization, but this unit here is really designed to be set and then left that way, not changed on the fly, and not changed all the time. So, if that's what you're looking for, this is going to be a great option. If you want to be able to have something that you change on the fly, again, there are other options out there that are gonna be right around the same cost. Most of these modules are going to be designed in the same way. This is going to go in line between your throttle pedal itself and the wiring harness that's in your Jeep. You simply unplug those two connections, plug this into the middle, and this is going to do what it needs to do to essentially tell the Jeep that the throttle is in a different position than it is, and give you that little bit of additional throttle response, especially when you're just coming off the line, taking off from a red light or from a stop sign. Now, this does have the ability, as I mentioned before, to plug in an additional knob to give you a lot more variability with exactly how much throttle response you're getting, but right out of the box, this is going to come preset with just a set of jumpers that can detune that to about 60%, so again, not quite as much flexibility, especially on the fly. This will have a couple of LED indicator lights built right into it, which is going to give you an indication of if it's working, if it's turned on, and to make sure that everything is set up and working properly, as it should be.Now, one of the nice things about this unit here is that it is stackable with most other OBD2 tuners and calibrators, so you can have this installed and also have a Flashcal or a Flashpaq, or one of the other tuners or calibrators on the market. This is going to play well with those, not going to cause any issues. So, again, very simple one-out-of-three wrench installation, probably not going to take you any more than 15 minutes to get this installed. And aside from the included miniature screwdriver that comes right in the box with this, you're not going to need any tools at all. All you need to do is climb underneath the dash of your Jeep, unplug the factory wiring harness right from the throttle pedal. You'll plug your PedalMAX into the wiring harness and plug the other end of the PedalMAX into your pedal, and you're pretty much done from there. You'll start the Jeep up, check the indicator lights on the JMS PedalMAX, also check for any check-engine lights or anything else that may have happened. If everything is working properly, you get in the Jeep, you go, and you have that more powerful feeling with a very easy install. The PedalMAX comes in at right around $300, where the Pedal Commander is going to be right around the same price, and again, have that more on-the-fly switching ability with just a set of buttons, don't have to buy anything additional to really fine-tune it. And like I said before, it really comes down to how you want to use this unit. A lot of people just wanna be able to set it and forget it, have it all set up, not need to have something additional on their dash, and they aren't going to be playing with this thing all the time, and for that, this is going to be a better option. However, if you like the ability to, on the fly, change your throttle response, then the Pedal Commander is probably going to be a better option. You're gonna have that module on the dash that you can change on the fly. So, it comes down to what you want on your Jeep, but both are going to be priced right around the same price range, and they're both going to work very well. So, if you're looking to eliminate a little bit of that throttle lag, this is going to be a really nice option for you, and you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.
