      1 Top Rated Question

Trying to decide between Hyline and Spyder louvers and currently leaning towards Hyline since there does not appear to be any logo vs. the spyder logo. Any other things that should stand out, quality-wise i.e. rust proof, fading, etc.?

      • Both of the louvers are pretty nice and well made, I have not heard of any fading or rusting of either one of these hood louvers. I personally like the non-logo version myself, but it really comes down to personally preference.

          Great Fit / Looks Awesome

Excellent directions and template. I used a grinder with a cutting wheel and a hand drill. Buy extra small drill bits for the pilot holes. Careful to not over tighten the pressed fittings.

Just put it on. Looks great

I had the same issue with the screws as another reviewer, also was sent the wrong template so it was a little of a guessing game. Luckily one of the customer photos showed where he cut out the hood. Overall it looks great and and serves as a very functional addition to your jeep, especially when towing your boat

My 2017 purchase of Hyline Hood Louver

The instructions are great. The template, you CANT go wrong. First time doing something super drastic to my hood. I would definitely recommend a Dremel with the metal cutter. The wheel is thiner and cuts a lot faster with more control. One thing I didn't really do was mark where the support is for the hood and ALMOST cut it completely off. The wheel I used was a 4" and you couldn't really cut through because it's thick. It almost melted the hood metal instead of cut which is why I recommend the Dremel. I did have some issues with the screws this comes with, as soon as I began to tighten the nut, the screw spun with the nut and there really isn't a way to hold on to the screw because it comes attached to the louver to give it a sleek look. That happened with 4 nuts. Besides that, it was an easy install and fun. I gave it a 4 star because of those loose screws.

          Vents really function well!

Install was easy, the steel template pretty much eliminates any chance of messing up the hole placement. There are a lot of bare steel edges after all the cutting and drilling. I put two coats of primer and one coat of paint on everything. I also put a thin bead of black RTV sealant around the perimeter to help seal it to the hood. It looks great, lays perfectly flat on the hood and lets so much heat out. Before the vent I could barely hold the prop rod, now its only warm so the under hood temperatures are much lower.
