Review shared from Dana Spicer Rear Dana 44 Ring & Pinion Gear Set, 5.13 (07-16 Wrangler JK)

      5 2010 - JeeperCreeper

I lifted my JKU 4.5 inches (AEV) and added 37 inch tires. It drives like stock, but first I needed to calibrate the computer to know the configurations of the new gear set and tires. I think it surprises other drivers how much torque my JKU can pull off on the highway, especially going uphill. Really can't see how a more expensive set would have made a difference. The shop asked me to come back after 2 weeks to tighten it up a bit more and, according to the mechanic this is inevitable, so consider this a heads for you out there. Oh, one last thing: I lost 2 mpg since the mods were installed, which is nothing really

Is this all that is needed to convert a JK Sport 3.2 ratio rear axle to 4.1? Does it also require the front Dana 30 axle gear? If there are other parts, can you provide a list? With factory 245/75R16 tires, will the speedometer function (with resetting), or would 17" rims be needed (factory Rubicon size)? Thanks!

    • Hello, the Dana Spicer Dana 44 - 4.10 Rear (07-17 Wrangler JK) would be all that you would need to change the gears, you would also need for the front axle as well. Unfortunately we do not have the Dana brand for the front Dana 30, but we do have several different brands and you can use that same brand you choose for the front, also for the rear. For the front axle you will need a larger carrier, the stock carrier will only accommodate 3.73 gears or smaller, unfortunately we do not sell that. Although that should be all you need, we also advise, since you will have everything open, to get an install kit for the front and rear axle. There are several different kits for different year ranges of the JK Wrangler, make sure to get the correct one for your Jeep here: To be able to make sure that your Jeep will read the correct gears you are about to change and give you the correct reading on the speedometer, you will need to get a Superchips Flashcal F5 (07-17 Wrangler JK) which you can find here:

I currently have the factory 3.73 ratio gears on a non-rubicon (Dana 30 front and 44 rear). I can go to 4.10 without modification, correct?

    • When using the OEM 3.73 carriers, you are able to go to a 4.10 without changing carriers.
