Ryan: The Bushwacker textured DiamondBack rocker panels are for those of you that have a 1997 to 2006 TJ that are looking to change up the look of your Jeep a little bit, and add a little bit of light protection as well. These covers are going to go over the rocker area of your Jeep so if you have maybe a tubular sidestep, these can still be used in conjunction with that. And when you step on that sidestep if the toe of your shoe normally hits the rocker it can cause some damage. This will protect against that. You already has some light damage, some scratching that you wanna cover up, this is gonna do that as well, but if you have scratching down to the bare metal make sure you use some touch-up paint first or you're gonna be hiding some rust that will come up again later. This is also going to be something that will make your Jeep look a little bit like a factory Rubicon Jeep. From the factory the Rubicons came with a set of metal rocker guards that looked similar to these ones. These of course are just plastic covers, they are less expensive, easier to install, but they do give you that look of the Rubicon just a little bit. As I mentioned this is a very easy install, one out of three wrenches, these are just going to attach with some 3M adhesive and we'll show you exactly how to do that in just a second. If you are looking for some very light rocker protection against some scratching, looking for something to cover up some damage and you don't have the need or the want for some actual steel rocker guards that are going to give you some real offer of protection, this is going to save you a lot of money versus going with something that's metal that you don't really need. A lot of you will know the Bushwacker name because they make a lot of fender flares. So they know how to make these plastic, molded plastic components that are gonna hold up really well out in the elements. So just like the fender flares, these are going to be molded plastic, they're not going to fade or get chalky in the UV. They're going to fit really well, install very easily and just in general be a very high quality option. These are gonna run you $80 for a pair of them, I think that's a pretty good deal. I usually don't like to spend over $100 on things that are more of an appearance piece and a little bit less functional. These still have some function to them, they're a very easy install, they fit really well, they change of the look of your Jeep. If that's what you're looking for, I do think these are a pretty fair price. Now a member the install team will show you how to get these installed. Instructor: Before you start your install, you wanna check to make sure that you're grabbing the correct side rocker panel. They're labeled L and R, we're working on the left side of the Jeep so I grabbed the one that's labeled with an L. Got an L here and we got a L at the end of our part number. Next thing we're gonna do is prep the surface, this is one of the most important parts of the install to ensure that the 3M tape sticks and lasts. We're just gonna clean it with some Windex. Next thing we're going to do is use an alcohol wipe to further prep the surface for the 3M tape. All right, we can now prep our rocker panel for install. What I'm gonna do here is peel a corner of the 3M backing tape back about two inches or so and tape the corner of it to the front of the rocker panel. So before we pull the rest of the backing tape off of our rocker panel, we're gonna go underneath of the Jeep and get a couple of our provided pushpins started. We have three holes here on our rocker panel and they're gonna line up with three holes that are already on the Jeep. Okay so we're gonna get our rocker panel in place here. And since these holes are slotted, you have a slight left to right movement so get it centered right where you want it and we're gonna put a pushpin in the center hole. Now we can put our pushpins in the rest of the holes. And we got one more in the back. And last thing we can do now is pull the red backing tape off of the 3M and we're gonna push firmly all the way down the rocket panel here to ensure our 3M sticks properly. All right, we're gonna pull back the tape. And peel back the red backing tape off our 3M. And we're gonna go all the way down and push firmly to ensure we get a solid adhesion to the paint. That's gonna wrap up our review and install of the Bushwhacker side rockers. Be sure to check out more at extremeterrain.com.
