Ryan: The Bestop Trektop NX Glide in Black Twill is for those of you have a 4-door 2007 to 2018 JK that are looking for a top that has a ton of features, a very high build quality, as well as a very high quality of materials. This is going to offer you a ton of flexibility with different configurations that you can run the top in, and as I said before, a quality that is going to last a very long time. This top is going to be a one out of three wrench install and we'll talk a little bit more about that in just a second. So when you're shopping for soft tops, you're really going to find three different categories. Two are going to be factory-style tops. One of those is going to be all of your soft material and your windows if you already have a good functioning soft top frame and that top is going to be a replacement top and it just goes on your existing frame. The other is going to be a complete soft top that's going to include the frame and all the hard materials as well as the soft materials and that's going to be for those of you that don't currently have a soft top, are coming from the hard top, or have a soft top that's not in great condition and you just want to replace everything. And, of course, that's gonna be more expensive than a replacement top. Those complete replacement tops including additional components a little bit more costly. And then you're gonna step into a whole another category which is a non-factory style top so that's going to offer the fastback styling. It's going to offer a bunch of other different features that you won't get out of a factory top and that's what we have here from Bestop. This is going to have the fastback styling, also going to be a convertible top, also going to have the removable windows so it easily converts into a Safari-style top and this does have all of the frame and the door surrounds and all the hardware that you need to make this thing work even if you currently have a hard top on your Jeep. So again, this has a lot going for it. This is also the black twill material so this is akin to the premium material available directly from Jeep so it's a very high-quality material, looks good, nice and quiet, holds up really well. Again, a lot going on with this top. Now, for all of the stuff that I've just mentioned, you are going to pay a premium. This is not going to be an inexpensive top. But if you're looking for all the features that it offers, it's going to be a great choice. So let's talk about some of the features of this top because you can even tell just reading the name of it, Bestop Trektop NX Glide, that there's a lot going on here. So this is going to have the fastback styling of the Trektop, so it's gonna have that slanted back to it that gives the Jeep a more aggressive style. You'll lose a little bit of cargo space when you do have that slant back but I know that's still a style that a lot of you guys are after, that fastback styling, and this is going to offer you that. Now, the Bestop Trektop does have that styling. The NX has that styling and removable windows. This is an NX top so it does have removable three windows so you can take the back window out and the side windows out, making this basically a Safari top once those windows are removed. Now, this is also going to have the Sunrider feature up front so you can very easily unclip the top from the top of the windshield, flip that front section back to expose the area over the two front seat passengers, giving you that Sunrider feature. And the fact that this is a Glide means that the top will slide all the way back, fully exposing the front and the rear seat passengers to that open-air driving experience. Now, that's not something that the regular Trektop NX has, the glide feature is what's going to give you that. So, again, a ton of different configurations you can run this top in and a ton of different functionality that you get from this top. Now, the fact that this is twill is also a very big deal. This is going to be a very high-quality, very thick materials. This is a 30-ounce material, again, very similar to the premium material offered directly from Jeep with those premium soft tops. This top, it just looks better. It feels better. It wears better. It's going to hold up very, very well. It's gonna be very quiet because it's nice and thick so it's not going to flap in the wind it all. It's a very, very nice material for a top. If you're somebody who plans on running your soft top year-round, you want one that's gonna hold up really well and you have the budget for it, I would definitely recommend springing for the twill. If you're only running the top in the springtime and the summer, you're throwing a hard top on when the weather gets bad, or maybe you're not expecting to keep the Jeep for all that long, you just want to throw something less expensive on there, certainly go with the black diamond material. If you want premium, twill is definitely the way to go. As I said before, this is also going to include everything that you need to get it installed on the Jeep, so whether you're coming from a hard top or a soft top, whether you have any components from your previous soft top or not, what condition they're in, none of that matters. You take this out of the box, you're gonna have everything you need to get it installed on your jeep. Oftentimes, a premium product comes with a premium price tag and that is absolutely the case with this top from Bestop, this is a $1,400 top. As I said before, if you're running it year-round, you want the highest quality, you want a ton of features, I think this is absolutely worth the cost. Now, we'll have a member of the install team will show how you get this installed. Man: The first thing we're gonna do is remove the windows. You're gonna want to open up your rear door, peel back the Velcro, and unzip the window and you're gonna do the same exact thing on the other side. All right, guys, now, to remove the rear window, the first thing you're gonna want to do is open your tailgate and then unzip the window. Once you have your window unzipped, you're gonna lift up on your tailgate bar and pull it away from the Jeep. Now, that we have the window and tailgate bar out, we're gonna ahead and remove the tailgate bar brackets. You do that by lifting up on the back tab and pulling forward. Once you have your windows out, you're gonna want to go to the front of the Jeep and disconnect the header from the windshield before putting the top back. Now, that we have our header disconnected from our windshield, we're gonna go ahead and flip our top back to the halfway position and then we're gonna unlock it from the halfway position and put it all the way back. Now that we have our top fully disconnected, we're gonna go ahead and put it all the way back. Now, that we've got the top all the way back, we're gonna go ahead and disconnect the top from the brackets using the quick disconnects. We're gonna go ahead and take the top out of the Jeep. The next thing you're gonna want to do is remove your rearmost brackets using a T30 Torx bit. If you already have a Bestop top installed, you do not have to do this step but the last step of the uninstallation would be to remove your door surrounds. As long as your door surrounds have the cable guide as well as the halfway lock, you do not have to replace them. All right, guys, now we're ready to install our tailgate bar brackets. Just a quick note, they are side-specific. As you can see, you're gonna want the thicker edge to the outside of the vehicle. Now, to install these, you're gonna clip them on the back side first and pull forward. You're gonna want to do the same thing on the other side. Now, we're gonna install our bow assembly bracket using the provided hardware. The provided hardware is a T30 Torx bit. Now, we're gonna go ahead and install our top arches. For reference, the front arch is slightly shorter than the rear. Now, we're ready to assemble our top. The first thing you're gonna want to do is remove the two screws on each side of the header securing the fabric. You're gonna want to set these screw aside for later use. Once you have the four screws removed, you're gonna go ahead and flip your header forward. With our header flipped forward, we're gonna go ahead and install our side bows using the provided hardware. Now that we have side bows installed, we're gonna go ahead and flip our header and our bow assembly into the proper orientation. All right, guys, now that we have our header and side bows flipped the correct way, we're gonna go ahead and use the provided hardware and secure it from the top. All right, guys, now we're gonna go ahead and put our flaps back to their original location. To do that, you're gonna use the hardware we took out earlier and secure it back down. Now, I found it a little bit easier to put the screw through the fabric as well as the metal for both holes before securing it down. All right, guys, now we're gonna go ahead and install our number three bow assembly. It simply just mounts to the brackets using the already installed quick disconnects. All right, now, we're gonna install our bow stop. The orientation of this is the slant goes towards the front of the Jeep. Once, you have it in position, you're gonna use the provided screws and secure it to the third bow assembly. Now, we're gonna go ahead and install our number four bow assembly. With the help of a friend, I'm gonna go ahead and throw the top on the Jeep. All right guys, now we're gonna attach our side bows to our third bow assembly using the provided hardware. Using a T30 Torx bit, you can go ahead and tighten it up. You're gonna repeat this process on the other side. All right, guys, now we're gonna install our next bow assembly onto the frame. You're gonna want to use the two plastic spacers as well as the provided hardware and secure it to the frame. Once you have your front done, you're gonna go ahead and repeat the process on the rear. Once you have all four locations secured, you're gonna go back and tighten everything up. Now, we're gonna secure our stay straps to the fourth bow assembly. Now, there's three holes already marked out on your stay strap that will line up with the three holes on your fourth bow assembly. I found it a little easier to use the provided hardware and screw it through the strap before securing it to the fourth bow assembly. Once you have your three screws started, you can go ahead and line it up with your bow assembly. It's a little easier if you work from the inside out and not fully tightening down the stay strap. Once you have all three screws started, you can go ahead and tighten them the rest of the way. Now that we have our entire frame assembly assembled, we're gonna go ahead and flip the fabric over the frame. Now that we have our fabric laid over our frame, we're gonna go ahead flip the top back halfway. Now, guys, with our top flipped back, we're gonna go ahead and attach our tension spring to the third bow assembly. We're gonna do the same thing on the other side. Now that we have our spring attached, we're gonna go ahead and secure the fabric to the frame. You're gonna want to flip your number four bow assembly up and back, you're gonna take the inside flap from your rear and fold it over the bar, making sure everything lines up where it should. There is predrilled holes in the fabric that should line up with your number four bow assembly holes. Once you confirm everything is a close fit, you're gonna go ahead and put screws through the fabric and then into your bar. Now that we have our screws through the fabric, we're gonna go ahead and secure it to the number four bow assembly. Now, we're gonna secure the fabric to the third bow assembly with the provided Velcro location. Now that we have the fabric secured to the top in two of the three locations, we're gonna go ahead and flip the top forward and secure it in the final location. The frontmost point will secure the same as the middle by using Velcro. Now we're ready to install our windows. They mount almost like a factory top. But instead of using zippers, they have these nice channels that slide into the top. You're gonna take the front of the window and wrap it around into the channel like you would on a factory top. Once you have your top secured on the front as well as along the top, you're gonna go ahead and put this pin through the grommet on the fourth bow assembly. Now you're gonna want to tuck this plastic right into the channel. You're gonna want to repeat the same process on the other side. All right, guys, now we're ready to install our rear window. It's the same type as the top of the side windows, just the channel it slides into. All right, once you have your window slid across the top, you're gonna go ahead and secure it to the side windows. On the back of your rear window here there is a little channel, they interlock. Once you have your top in the sun a little bit, it will go on much smoother. Now we're gonna mount the tailgate bar to the rear window. It's the same thing as the rest of the top just a nice C-channel that slides right in. Once you have your tailgate bar slid in, you're gonna go ahead and line the channel up with the bracket and clip it in. Now we're gonna go ahead and secure the header to the windshield. And with everything tightened up, that completes our review and install. You can check out more at extremeterrain.com.
