I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the Bestop Trektop, fitting all 2007 and up Wranglers. There is, of course, a version of this top available for both the two-door and the four-door JK. Today, we're gonna talk through the installation of this top, which is a very simple one out of three wrenches, and you certainly won't need to take your Jeep to a shop to have this installed. It comes with everything you need, and the installation is very simple. We're also going to talk about the construction and some of the features of this top, as well as the differences between this and the Trektop NX.The Bestop Trektop is a fastback top, which means it has a slant to the back of it which drastically changes the look of your Jeep, especially from the profile view. So for those of you that are looking for that style, the Trektop is a great option. Now, the Trektop comes with everything you need to get it installed on your Jeep. That's door surrounds, bows, tailgate bars, literally everything. So even if you currently have a hardtop on your Jeep and you're looking for a soft top setup, this is going to have everything you need in the box. You don't have to purchase anything additional, which is really, really nice. Now, this is a truly frameless top. The Bestop Trektop NX is also in the frameless category, but it has a bit of a frame because the front two passengers can reach up, unclip a small frame piece, and flip that front section of the top back, giving them the open-air driving experience. This top can also have that open-air driving experience. However, instead of having a frame that you unclip, you actually have to roll the top up and strap it into place. And that's one of the big differences between the Trektop and the Trektop NX. The other big difference between the NX and the Trektop is that this top, the Trektop, does not have removable side windows. The rear window of this top does remove. It zips in and out just like a factory window would, but the side windows are sewn into the top. They're part of it, so you cannot remove those independently. And those are really the two main differences between the Bestop Trektop and the Trektop NX. Of course, the NX is going to be a more expensive top because it does come with additional features. However, if you're looking to save a little bit of money or you're just not interested in those features, the Bestop Trektop is certainly an option. Either way you go, you're going to end up with a very high-quality top because Bestop has been making the OE tops for Jeep for a long time.As for construction, as I mentioned, this is a very high-quality top. This is as high of a quality as any one of the other Bestop tops. Now, the Bestop Twill tops are going to be a little bit higher quality, but just because of the material that they're made out of. But for a top that is made of a standard OEM-quality material, this is going to be a very, very high-quality piece. As far as the stitching, the zippers, the fact that this includes all of the hardware, all the rear windows are tinted, this is a really nice package. It has everything you need to get it installed, it will look like it rolled off the showroom floor with this top on it because it fits so well, and if you're looking for one of the highest-quality tops that you can purchase, I definitely recommend Bestop. To get this top installed is a very easy one out of three wrenches. As I mentioned before, no cutting, no drilling. All in all, it is a very simple install, although it will take you somewhere around two hours to get everything installed, especially the first time. Because these tops are very tight when you take them right out of the box, so it can take a little bit of extra work to get them stretched over the sport cage of your Jeep. Now, the first step in the installation is going to be removing whatever top you currently have on your Jeep, whether that be a hardtop or an OE soft top. And if you have an OE soft top, you're going to be removing every bit of the hardware, including the door surrounds. This setup does come with everything you need. The first step is to take the Bestop door surrounds out of the box and put them on the Jeep. Then you can attach the top itself to the header - again, that comes in the box - attach the header to the top of the windshield, and fold the rest of the material over the sport cage, attaching it to the tub. Finally, you'll put the tailgate bar into your rear window and zip the rear window into place. The whole installation will take you a little bit longer if the top is cold. I definitely recommend warming this top up however you can before you do the installation. Now, if you're doing this on a nice summer's day, lay it out in the front yard for a few hours before you get started. It will pay dividends. However, if you are doing this in the wintertime, I would recommend bringing the top inside where it's heated to let it warm up before you do the installation. It will make things a lot easier. As far as tools go, you'll wanna have a set of traditional hand tools handy to help you remove your factory top, but you really won't need a lot of heavy lifting to get this installed.Because Bestop does make such a high-quality product, they do command a higher price. As far as a fastback style top from Bestop, the Trektop is going to be on the lower end of the price range, with the Trektop NX being a little bit more expensive because it does have some more features. However, I've seen a lot of other fastback style tops, and in my opinion, the quality you get from Bestop is well worth the additional price that you have to pay.So whether you currently have a soft top on your Jeep and you just want that slant back look or you have a hard top and you're looking for something that will more easily give you that open-air driving experience, the Bestop Trektop is a great option. It's also going to save you some money over the Trektop NX that has a few more features. So that's my review of the Bestop Trektop, fitting all 2007 and up JKs, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
