    Video Review & Installation

I'm Ryan from and this is my review of the Artec Industries Nighthawk Series Rear Bumper fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. Artec Industries is known for making some really high-quality products and this is another great example of that. Along with the extremely high build quality, the design and the quality of the materials comes a higher price tag. If you have the budget for it and you're looking for something that's super heavy duty and a little bit unique, this is a nice option. However, if you don't have the budget for this, there are plenty of other rear bumpers on the market that have the same features as this one. In fact, there are bumpers out there that include a tire carrier for right around the price of this bumper alone. This bumper is built from eighth-inch laser cut steel with three-quarter inch shackle mounts that are welded and bolt directly through to the frame giving you a ton of strength. As you can see, the design of this bumper is a little bit unique compared to a lot of the other ones on the market, and that is something that makes this bumper desirable, again, if you have the budget for it. The bumper has internal gussets giving you plenty of strength. But, as you can see, it does come in raw steel so you will have to get it painted or powder coated when you get it home. That's nice if you want to give it a custom color or a custom finish. Or, if you're doing a lot of off-roading and you plan on nicking up the finish a lot of guys will prefer to just hit it with a rattle can so that you can easily touch it up. However, if you're somebody who wants to take it out of the box and put it right on the Jeep, that is an extra step that you may not want to have to deal with. One of the features of this rear bumper that I do like is the very large cutout here for a large spare tire. If you do have a tub-mounted tire carrier, you can get that tire nice and low and not have to worry about a clearance issue with your bumper. That'll give you maximum visibility out of your rear window. Again, it's just a different styling cue that some bumpers don't have. Getting this bumper installed on your Jeep is going to be a really simple process. The first step is to remove your factory bumper. That'll come off by removing the two bolts on either frame rail and the two bolts that are into the rear cross member. From there, that factory bumper will pop right off and you can install this one. A lot of other bumpers on the market will have an internal nut plate that you'll slide into the frame rail of the Jeep, and then there are tabs on the bumper that go on the outside of the frame rails that you bolt through. This is a little bit different. There are no nut plates that go inside the frame. This bumper is designed to bolt directly onto the frame with threaded holes into really heavy steel right on the back side that's welded through. The design isn't any better or worse than having a nut plate, but it is a little bit different. The whole installation process for this bumper shouldn't take you more than an hour. It comes with all of the hardware you need to get it bolted up. You'll just need a socket set and you'll be good to go. Like I said before, this is probably one of the best-built bumpers that I've ever come across, however, along with that comes a high price tag. If you're looking for something incredibly strong and with a unique style and you have a budget for it, I would definitely recommend this bumper. There's nothing that I don't like about this except for that price tag. If you are on a bit of a budget, you can find a bumper that has even additional features, like I said before, that come with a tire carrier for right around the same price as this one. It comes down to what you want for your Jeep and what your budget is.If you're looking for a unique rear bumper solution on your Jeep and you don't have the need for a built-in tire carrier, I would definitely recommend taking a look at this bumper. It is going to be a higher price point than a lot of other bumpers on the market but it has a unique design and it is incredibly well built. That's my review of the Artec Industries Nighthawk Series Rear Bumper fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs.
