      The Hauk Off-Road Exhaust Skid System is for those of you that have a 2018 and up JL that are looking for a way to protect your factory exhaust system. If you have an aftermarket exhaust system, this is probably not going to be a very good fit for you. But if you do have that factory one, you wanna keep the factory exhaust system and you wanna keep it from being crushed when you're off road, this is going to be an excellent choice for you. This is a nice easy one out of three wrench bolt-on installation, comes with all the brackets and the hardware that you need, and we're gonna show you how to get it installed in just a second. So, since the JK, the exhaust system on the Wrangler has been in a spot where if you're doing some aggressive off-roading there's always a chance that you're going to ding it up or bang it up, and that led to the aftermarket coming out with a lot of off-road and more aggressive-sounding shorter systems that will dump sometimes even in front of the rear axle, really tucking everything up out of the way.But as I mentioned before, if you are interested in keeping the factory exhaust system, you don't want to change it up, but you do want to protect it, that's where something like this comes in. Hauk Off-Road is known for making some really high-quality armored products, and this is no different. This is a nice heavy duty 3/16-inch steel. Everything is completely welded here. As I said before, comes with all the brackets and the hardware. So overall, it's just a very, very nice piece, and it's at a very nice price as well. In my opinion, this is very fairly priced at right around that $250 mark. Again, if you were looking into swapping out the exhaust system on your Jeep either because you damaged it, or changing it to one of those more high-clearance systems so you don't damage it, you're going to be into it for more than $250. So, if you want to keep that factory system and protect it, I do think this is going to be a pretty good deal for you. I mentioned before, this is a nice easy one out of three wrench installation. Now, let's show you how to do it.Tony: Tools used for this installation are as follows. We have an impact gun and a ratchet, a 19-millimeter socket, a 15-millimeter socket, and a short extension. All right, now let's get started with the installation of our new skid plate on the back of our new JL Jeep. Now to begin, we're gonna have to put on the brackets first. The forward-most brackets are actually gonna bolt to where our sway bar mounts bolt to our frame. All we have to do is sandwich the bracket in between our sway bar mounts and our frame, and reinstall the factory bolts and tighten them down.But we're not going to tighten them down right away. We're still gonna leave them a little loose, this way we can adjust the brackets to get our skid plate in place. Once everything is bolted in place, then we'll go back and we'll tighten everything down properly. Now, with a 15-millimeter socket, we're gonna remove the two bolts that attach our sway bar to the frame. And I'm just gonna loosen up the other side for now. Now, just take your new bracket and sandwich it in between our frame and sway bar bracket, and reinstall your factory hardware.Now, with these installed, we're just gonna leave them loose till we get both of them in and our skid plate in place. All right, now we're ready to get our rearward brackets on. And if your Jeep did not come with the factory steel bumpers, just like ours didn't, you're gonna want to make sure that you have your tab nuts that come in the kit. If you don't have them, you can always call Hauk Performance and get them, they will send them out to you right away.Now, we just have to slide these up into the frame. We're gonna utilize this oval-sized hole right here, and we're gonna utilize this hexagon hole that is in our frame. That's right where this tab nut's gonna line up and our brackets are gonna bolt to. Once it is lined up in the hole, we're gonna put our new brackets in place with our hardware. Don't forget your washer.We're only loosely installing these now to still have movement when we get our skid plate up in place. Then just go ahead and slide your flag nut up into place. And just gonna go ahead and get that, shift it around where it needs to be. You can go ahead and just use a screwdriver and line them up. Now we're ready to get our skid plate in place. Now, as you can see, I have a trans jack here with our skid plate on top of it, lifted up into place. Well, if you're doing this down on the ground on some jack stands, you can use a regular floor jack. I had to use a trans jack. While it's a little bit taller, the skid plate is not light by any means.But, that means it's gonna be nice and sturdy to protect your muffler when you're bouncing it off some rocks out there on the trails. Now with it lined up in place, just make sure that your brackets go to the inside of your skid plate before installing your hardware. Now, once all the holes are lined up, we can get our hardware installed, get our brackets tightened down to our skid plate, then we'll go back and tighten all our brackets down to the bottom of our Jeep. Now, with your bolts supplied in the kit, don't forget your lock washer and your regular flat washer.Now, just install your forward bolts. And we can go ahead and tighten those all up, and then we'll go back and tighten our brackets to our frame. Now, with our 19-millimeter we'll finish tightening up the rest of our bolts on our skid plate to our brackets. Now, just tighten up your sway bar brackets back up with your 15.Now, with all your bolts tightened up and everything lined up where it needs to be, we are complete with our installation.
