I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review of the Rugged Ridge Fuel Cover fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This cover is available in both black and a chrome style finish, in aluminum or stainless steel, and in a locking and non-locking version. So whatever you need for your Jeep, we have you covered. The fuel filler cap on our JKs is left exposed which can give it a little bit more of that rugged Jeep look and also follows in line with its ancestry, but if you're one of those people who thinks that looks a little bit unfinished, a fuel cover is a really nice option. While this is mostly a visual modification you can get a locking version of this which will add some function if you have concerns about people getting into your fuel tank.I like this fuel cover in particular because they do offer different materials, finishes, and functions, and they do it all at a really fair price. Once you decide to go with a Rugged Ridge Fuel Cover you will have a couple of decisions to make. As I mentioned they offer this in both stainless steel and aluminum. Now a low grade stainless will rust if it's exposed to the elements, and aluminum will oxidize if it's exposed to the elements. So to be honest I don't see a huge benefit of purchasing one over the other, and the prices are only marginally different. So you choose which ever one you like. After you choose the material you will choose the finish. I prefer the gloss black, but there's also a chrome style version available. Being honest I would like to see Rugged Ridge offer this in a textured black powder coat finish because I think it matches a lot of the black plastic accents on the Jeep a little bit better than the gloss version does. Finally you'll decide if you want the locking or non-locking version of the cover. The locking version offers some added security that a lot of people like while others find it inconvenient to need a key every time you fill up your Jeep.If you decide to go with the non-locking version you'll have a magnetic clasp to make sure that the door stays closed when it should, and all the versions feature a rivet pattern around the outside which gives the door a little bit of style. Getting these fuel doors installed on your Jeep is a really simple process. All you need to do is hold the fuel door up over the factory fuel cap and make sure that it's level. Once you have it leveled and positioned where you like you can mark the four holes, and drill four small pilot holes into the plastic bezel around the fuel filler. After that all you need to do is install the four screws that are included in the kit and you're done. The whole process shouldn't take you more than half an hour and all you'll need is a drill, a drill bit, and a screw driver. Now even though this is mostly a visual modification unless of course you get the locking version, and you have that additional function, I do think that these are fairly priced. They drastically change the look of the Jeep and you're able to get a lot of different options, and really customize what you want for your vehicle when you go with the Rugged Ridge version of the fuel cover. They're a lot of other versions out there that are right around the same price that may or may not give you quite as many options. It's important to note that the factory Mopar version of the fuel door cover is available for only a few dollars more. So it comes down to what you want for your Jeep.So if you're one of those people who doesn't like the look of the exposed fuel cap on the side of your JK, and you want something that's gonna finish off the look. But you also want options for finish, material, and locking versus non-locking I think the Rugged Ridge Fuel Cover is the way to go. They offer all of that at what I think is a pretty fair price. So that's my review of the Rugged Ridge Fuel Cover fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

      Description

Key Features. If you're looking to add a tough, rugged edge to your Jeep, this Rugged Ridge Gas Cap Door is a simple and affordable way to do it. Made out of durable stainless steel, painted black and treated so resist gasoline, it will stand against the test of time, so you can enjoy the modification for the long term. The door doesn't lock, making for quick and easy access whenever you stop for gas.

Construction. The steel construction is durable enough for the Gas Cap Door to maintain its shape, even after you open and close it several times a week for years. It's designed to fit right over the existing opening for a customized look. The semi-gloss black powdercoat finish is specially formulated to resist fading when exposed to gasoline or other chemicals. Durable self-tapping screws with the same semi-gloss black powdercoat finish are included.

Installation. Installation of this Rugged Ridge Gas Cap Door does require some drilling for the self-tapping screws, so you need a marker to designate the drill points while holding the door against the side of the Jeep. You'll also need a Phillips screwdriver, but no other parts. Unlike some gas door kits, you don't need to remove the taillight or other components as part of the installation process. The job should take you about an hour to an hour and a half to complete. Before starting the installation, it's a good idea to open the door and ensure it works properly. An installation guide is available.

Application. Rugged Ridge specifies that this Gas Cap Door is made for all 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler models (JK).
