Installation. Give yourself one to two hours to complete this job. You'll need to start by removing all hardware from the inside of the tailgate. Pry the tailgate cover off next, then carefully peel back the plastic lining underneath to expose the OE lock cylinder. Use a screwdriver or needle nose pliers to pop out the old retaining clip, then reverse the procedure to install the new lock cylinder. You'll need an array of basic tools, including a screwdriver, small pry bar, and needle nose pliers. The job isn't difficult to perform, but it can be time consuming for anyone who's never taken apart a door or tailgate.
