Hi, I'm Dave from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation video of the Daystar Hood Hold Downs for 2007 and up JKs. I give this a one out of three wrenches on our installation rating guide. It's gonna take you less than an hour and you're just gonna need some simple hand tools to get the job done. We'll show you how to do that installation, coming up in just a minute. These hood hold downs are gonna be for anybody who needs to replace your hood latch, or because the hood flutter on your rig has become officially annoying, and doing things as simple as removing the spring from underneath your hood didn't help out. Now, these are gonna be the inside, so the rubber part of the latch. So that means that you're gonna be able to leave any after-market, or just the original latch in place. So, that's all you're replacing, is the rubber that gets worn out. And let's face it, whether it's an older Jeep that you may have, or if you live in an area that has a lot of elements like salt air, or if you have heavy winters where you live, you know that these can wear out a little bit sooner. They create a little more play, and that makes that hood flutter when you're driving down the highway. Plus, they turn that kind of ashy gray color, so depending on whether you wanna change it just for the look, or the practicality of making sure that your hood is nice and secure when you're driving down the highway and not fluttering up and down, this is gonna be a nice solution for that. These hood hold downs are made of polyurethane, and there are two included bolts. Those are gonna be made out of powder-coated steel, so that means it is going to fit any after-market latch that you may have put on your hood, or if you're still running with the original equipment, these are gonna work for those as well.At the beginning of the video, I indicated I'd give this a one out of three wrenches on the installation guide because it is pretty easy to pop on. Now, you are going to need some simple hand tools, and it should take you less than an hour, depending on the rust situation on a couple of your bolts. If they're fairly new, you're gonna be set and ready to go. Now, one of the things, before we even get started with the installation, that I wanna share a little bit of experience with you is I always like to work, especially with working with polyurethane or anything rubber, is to try and do it on a day that's 70 degrees or warmer, or if you got a garage or an area that you can work. Let these sit overnight and actually warm up. They'll be a little more pliable and easier to work with the first couple of times you're trying to latch your new hood latch onto your Wrangler. So, a little piece of advice from me to you. Now, to get started, it's very easy. Go up to your hood latch, and you're basically gonna look at the top bolt and the bottom bolt of the hold down. You're gonna take off the top bolt, then you're gonna unscrew the bottom bolt, it's that simple, and install your brand new hold down. Just do it in reverse of what I just mentioned, and you'll be set and ready to go.When you compare replacing the hood hold downs with an entire hood latch, you can certainly at least begin to see the value of just kind of switching those out, especially if they've turned gray from wear and tear over time, or if they've become a little bit loose and your hood is fluttering. That's gonna be a good reason to make the change and know that when you go down the highway, you don't have to deal with that hood bouncing up and down. And you get to upgrade the look just a little bit, and all you're doing is changing out the hold down without having to spend the extra cash for a latch. So, this is gonna be a good solution if you have worn out hood hold downs on your JK, and you want to update them to keep the hood from fluttering. And at the same time, if they've turned that ashy gray color because of where you live or how much wear and tear that you've actually put on your JK, this is a very simple upgrade to be able to change and to put in. And with it being just one out of three wrenches and simple hand tools, it should be fairly easy for just about anybody to install them themselves. I'm Dave, and that is my review and installation video for the Daystar Hood Hold Downs made for 2007 and up JKs, and you can check them out on extremeterrain.com.
